Sotogrande se prepara para una temporada histórica

The new measure by the Ministry of Transport modifies the traditional exits in the area.

En las páginas de esta edición de El Periódico de Sotogrande, la correspondiente al mes de febrero y la segunda de nuestro calendario de publicaciones 2024, tristemente tenemos que recoger algunos testimonios y homenajes a personajes que han formado parte estrechamente y de una manera directa a esa gran concepto ideal que es Sotogrande, forjado a través de poco más de seis décadas.

Por un lado, la triste noticia del fallecimiento de Doro Plana, sin duda uno de los nombres propios de la historia de Sotogrande ya que ésta misma, la conocemos, la podemos contemplar e incluso podemos conservarla, a través de las miles de imágenes y fotografías que captó con su objetivo a través de todo el desarrollo de la urbanización durante décadas. Un personaje muy particular, con una vida de película y que su propia historia personal le hizo convivir de muy cerca con algunas de las personalidades más célebres del pasado Siglo XX. A muchos los fotografió, con mucho compartió anécdotas para el recuerdo y con otros tantos no llegó nunca a contar lo que vivió.

También, de una manera muy apesadumbrada nos tocó despedir al querido y cariñoso Marcos Alonso. Toda una leyenda del fútbol en este país, con una trayectoria más que laureada en equipos tan importantes como el FC Barcelona o el Atlético de Madrid y que tras su retirada, eligió como uno de sus destinos dorados, disfrutar de la magia y especialmente del golf en Sotogrande. Muy vinculado a esta casa, un fijo en los torneos de golf de El Periódico de Sotogrande, transmitir también el más sentido pésame a toda su familia y amigos.

Para cerrar la terna, también el fallecimiento del gran árbitro británico de golf John Paramor. Un nombre con mayúsculas en el desarrollo de este deporte en el viejo continente, con su papel de árbitro jefe del Circuito Europeo y con míticas y emblemáticas anécdotas de juego en Valderrama, bien con Seve Ballesteros o incluso con el propio Sergio García.

Sotogrande camina hacia un lugar espectacular, muy adaptado al mundo moderno y con numerosas posibilidades de crecer internacionalmente. Pero conocer su pasado, su tránsito y todos estos personajes que a su manera contribuyeron con la enorme imagen, en todos los sentidos, es especial y de recibo. Qué menos que presentar los respetos y dar luz a todo lo que aportaron a este rincón único en el mundo.

In the pages of this edition of El Periódico de Sotogrande, corresponding to the month of February and the second of our calendar of 2023 publications, we sadly have had to include some testimonies and tributes to people who have been a close and direct part of the great ideal concept of what Sotogrande is, forged through a little over six decades.

On one hand, we have the sad news of the passing of Doro Plana, undoubtedly one of the big names in the history of Sotogrande as we can know it, view it and even manage to conserve it, through the thousands of images and photographs that he captured with his lends over the course of the entire development of the resort over decades. A very particular character, with a life worthy of a film, and his own personal story led him to coexist very closely with some of the most famous figures of the 20th century. He photographed many of them, shared memorable anecdotes and with many others he never told about what he experienced.

Also, in a very sorrowful way, we had to bid farewell to the beloved and affectionate Marcos Alonso. A real football legend in this country, with a career packed with titles in teams as important as FC Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid and after his retirement, he chose as one of his golden destinations, to enjoy the magic, and especially the golf, of Sotogrande. Very linked to this firm, a regular at the golf tournaments of El Periódico de Sotogrande, we also want to pass on our heartfelt condolences to all of his family and friends.

To conclude the group, we also have the passing of the great British golf referee John Paramor. A big name in the development of this sport in Europe, with his role as head rules official on the European Circuit and legendary and emblematic playing anecdotes in Valderrama, both with Seve Ballesteros and even with Sergio García himself.

Sotogrande is heading towards a spectacular place, very adapted to the modern world and with many options to grow internationally. However, knowing about its past, its journey and all of these characters who contributed in their way to the great image, in every regard, is special and relevant. No less than to offer our respects and shed light on everything that they contributed to this unique place in the world.

En la pasada edición de El Periódico de Sotogrande del mes de noviembre [la edición 419 si la quieren consultar en nuestro ISSUU], podrán repasar con un poco de perspectiva algunas de las conclusiones de la última edición del Foro Empresarial que organiza esta casa. Entre los ‘topics’ más destacados y referenciados por ponentes y asistentes al evento, se reincidía en la carencia y necesidad de encontrar personal operativo de cualificación, preparación y alto nivel de servicio en la zona. Algo que a todos luces debería ser sencillo, por el estatus, pero que no siempre se consigue y se logra. A las pruebas y conclusiones me remito.

Si pretendemos potenciar y mostrar eventos y entornos de muy alto nivel (seguridad, comunicación, marketing, diseño y arquitectura, hoteles de máxima calificación, establecimientos gastronómicos de primer nivel, entidades y clubes deportivos de élite, atención y/o servicios de primera calidad); disponer y contar con un personal adecuado por cualificación y preparación es indispensable. No se puede entender ni ofrecer lo uno sin lo otro. De ejemplos variopintos también podemos hacer una buena lista en la zona. Todo no vale y esencialmente, no todo se puede copiar, afortunadamente.

En esta tesitura, desafortunadamente, se ven muchos empresarios en estos días al inicio de al temporada, tener que ampliar o completar plantillas con personal que no siempre viene con la determinación y definición de características apropiadas para ejercer y actuar en un destino y entorno de tan exigentes servicios como Sotogrande.

Incluso en esta propia edición damos luz y taquígrafo a una tan grata noticia como es que el Hotel SO/ Sotogrande, un resort de referencia de cinco estrellas, plantea nada menos que la contratación de medio centenar de personas para su equipo de máximo perfil. Probablemente una de las mejores noticias de todo este 2023; que una entidad privada plantee el compromiso de contratación de más de medio centenar de personas a una plantilla, ¿quién puede igualar una apuesta así?

Lo que toca ahora es velar por ese buen criterio selectivo, en todos los sectores (lo del hotel es sólo un mero ejemplo de la gran apuesta y contribución a la generación de empleo en la zona del tejido empresarial local de Sotogrande); por ofrecer ese alto segmento de calidad. No hay victoria sin sacrificio y esfuerzo. Sin vendemos calidad y alto nivel, debemos estar preparados para hacerlo.

Mientras tanto, desde Grupo HCP Sotogrande, seguimos apostando por crear. Por fin podemos dar las fechas y calendario de pruebas del X Circuito de Golf Sotogrande. Cumplimos ya 10 temporadas desde el año 2013. Seguiremos apostado por lo mejor.

In the last edition of El Periódico de Sotogrande in November [edition 419 if you want to consult our ISSUU], you can review some of the conclusions of the last edition of the Business Forum organised by this publishing house with a little perspective. Among the most notable and referenced topics by speakers and attendees at the event, there was a repeated emphasis on the lack and need to find operating staff who are skilled, prepared and the high level of service in the area. Something that apparently should be easy, given the status, but that is not always attained and achieved. I refer to the tests and conclusions.

If we aim to boost and show events and areas of a very high level (security, communication, marketing, design and architecture, hotels of the highest level, first-rate gastronomic establishments, elite entities and sports clubs, top class treatments and/or services); having suitable staff in terms of skills and preparation is essential. One thing cannot be understood or offered without the other. We can also produce a good list of varied examples in the area. Not everything goes and essentially, not everything can be copied, fortunately.

In this regard, unfortunately, there are lots of business people at the start of the season who are having to increase or complete workforces with staff who do not always arrive with the determination and defintion of suitable characteristics to work and act in a destination and environment with such demanding services as Sotogrande.

Even in this edition, we are shedding lots of light on the great news of Hotel SO/ Sotogrande, a leading five star resort, that is planning no less than to hire fifty people for its top level team. Probably one of the best pieces of news of all of 2023; for a private entity to consider the commitment of hiring more than fifty people for their staff, who can equal a commitment like that?

Now it is time to ensure that good selection criteria, in all sectors (the hotel is only an example of the great commitment and contribution to the creation of employment in the area of the local business community in Sotogrande); to offering that high quality segment. There is no victory without sacrifice and effort. If we sell quality a high level, we should be prepared to do so.
