Assisted 116 Local Government Units in the segregation at source and segregated collection.

Assisted 386 Local Government Units in the establishment/operationalization of Materials Recovery Facility.


SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT NATIONAL ECO-SAVER’S PROGRAM

Implemented in the 764 public elementary and high schools in Metro Manila. Students are required to bring recyclables in school. The recyclables are weighed and recorded with corresponding amount in each student passbook as peso savings.


SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT RECYCLING AND NO TO PLASTIC PROGRAM

Ecological Solid Waste Management Program for Homeowners’ Associations in Metro Manila – This targets 1,000 homeowners’ associations in Metro Manila where they are required to establish their Ecological Solid Waste Management Programs with recycling and compositing components.


SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT RECYCLING AND NO TO PLASTIC PROGRAM

10 provinces have issued ordinance on “No to Plastic” policy.

In Metro Manila, 13 out of 17 cities and municipalities are implementing the “No to Plastic” policy.


ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION “The state shall promote national awareness on the role of natural resources in economic growth and the importance of environmental conservation and ecological balance towards sustained national development.� - Republic Act No. 9512 or the National Environmental Education and Awareness Act of 2008




ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION FORMAL SECTOR

Organization of the National Search for Sustainable and Eco-friendly Schools. The Search has awarded 96 regional champions since 2009.


ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION NON-FORMAL SECTOR

ďƒź

Development and publication of information and educational materials, including the holding of exhibits, workshops, camps, training programs on environmental management, and mobilization campaign.


INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION 

The Philippines for the 1st time was categorized as strong performer with the rank of 42nd among 132 countries.

Outranking Australia (48), USA (49), Singapore (52), and Israel (61).


INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION Gained perfect scores in indicators for:

Protecting forest cover

(logging

ban)

Growing forest stock (National Greening Program)

CO2 per capita (for increasing carbon sequestration by growing forest)

Agricultural subsidies for lowland and upland farmers

Reducing outdoor air pollution
