ueled By Ramen rock giants Paramore have announced “Paramore: Writing The Future,” an intimate evening of music that is set to hit prestigious theatres such as The Beacon Theatre in New York City, The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, and The Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles beginning in late April. "It feels right to bring the Self-Titled era to a close,” said Paramore lead singer Hayley Williams. "We've had a very personal and hugely triumphant journey with this one. What wouldn't feel right is saying goodbye to this time in the band's career and not celebrating it with our fans in some special way. So we've decided to do one last little run with it. Smaller shows, beautiful theaters ... and we're not calling it a tour, by the way. Each night will be a little event, or as we said just a few seconds ago, a celebration." Tickets are now on sale for all stops on the tour at livenation.com. The tour dates will also see the

45 Years Of Texas Rock At NYCB Theatre At Westbury Hall Of Fame. It’s a remarkable achievement that guitarist Billy F. Gibbons, bassist Dusty Hill, and drummer Frank Beard are still very much together after more than 40 years of rock, blues, and boogie on the road and in the studio. The band’s impressive list of hits dates back to 1973, when “La Grange” – still one of the band’s signature pieces today – catapulted them to national attention. Since then, they’ve recorded such classics as “Legs,” “Sharp

Williams (formerly of The Civil Wars). The release also includes the never-before-heard 2012 demo, “Tell Me It’s Okay,” two bonus tracks, “Escape Route” and “Native Tongue,” and eight live tracks recorded this past summer at Denver’s world famous Red Rocks Amphitheater. Paramore recently earned a Grammy Award nomination for “Ain’t It Fun,” the RIAA platinumcertified Top 10 hit single from the Paramore album, receiving a “Best Rock Song” nod for the 57th Annual Grammy Awards. In addition, Williams was named the first winner of Billboard’s “Trailblazer Award,” honoring her as a standout female artist who breaks from convention to make a unique mark and pave the way for new talent. The Trailblazer Award was presented last month in New York City as part of the ninth annual Billboard Women In Music Awards. The band's self-titled album exploded to the apex of the SoundScan/Billboard 200 upon its April 2013 release – the band’s first #1 album to date. The album also showcased a string of smash singles, including two Top 40, platinum-certified hits, “Still Into You” and the aforementioned “Ain’t It Fun.” The latter track proved one of Paramore’s biggest singles to date. Dressed Man,” “Tush,” “Gimme All Your Lovin’,” “Got Me Under Pressure,” “Sleeping Bag,” and “My Head’s In Mississippi.” As a touring unit, they’ve been without peer over the years, having performed before millions of fans throughout North America on numerous epochal tours as well as overseas where they’ve enthralled audiences from Slovenia to Italy, Australia to Sweden, Russia to Japan and most points in between. Their iconography – beards, cars, girls, and that magic key chain – seems to transcend all bounds of geography and language. In the 1980s, powered by numerous hits from their diamond-selling (which means sales of more than 10,000,000 copies) album, Eliminator, ZZ Top were video icons, playing a kind of Greek chorus in videos that highlighted the album’s three smash singles: “Gimme All Your Lovin’,” “Sharp Dressed Man” and “Legs.” The follow-up album, Afterburner,

continued their chart juggernaut. ZZ Top had become a certified rock institution, contemporary in every way, yet still completely connected to the founding fathers of the genre. The band has released several albums since, adding to its legacy, including La Futura – its 15th studio album (and first in nine years) – in September 2012. The project received widespread critical acclaim; they since released a newer “best-of” disc. The elements that keep ZZ Top fresh, enduring, and above the transitory fray can be summed up in the three words of the band’s internal mantra: “Tone, Taste, and Tenacity.” ZZ Top’s music is always instantly recognizable, eminently powerful, profoundly soulful, and 100 percent Texas American in derivation. These true rock icons have sold millions of records over the course of their career. But, against all odds, they’re really just doing what they’ve always done: Playing on as one of the most rocking R&B and blues bands in history.

All Eyes Will Be Smilin’:

A Guide To St. Patrick’s Day Fun

St. Patrick's Day can be an enjoyable holiday even for those who may not be Irish or even ale or beer drinkers. Actually, the day's “alcoholic” bent is now an old bromide; many St. Paddy's celebrations now feature the best in Irish cuisine and music, and there are family themed events aplenty all over. Here's a look at selected area St. Patrick's events (note: some are earlier or later than the actual date of the holiday, so read carefully):

or call (516) 804-9925. More bar, pub, and club-related fun: Mr. Beery's in Bethpage welcomes nationally touring Lo-Pan on St. Patrick's night. Of course, Long Island has more Irish-themed venues and watering holes than you can shake a shillelagh at. The Nutty Irishman has locations in Bay Shore and Farmingdale; Phat Daddy's Pub is an Irish-happy, always-happy place in Oceanside; Irish Coffee Pub in East Islip is a luxurious upscale eatery. Other choices: The Twisted Kilt in

Bohemia; Shandon Court in East Islip, a haven for live sounds (Irish music events on March 8 and 15); Napper Tandy's Irish Pubs in Smithtown, Miller Place, and Northport (which will host the annual St. Baldrick's Foundation

Bay Shore Parade

hair-cutting event on March 14); McCann's Pub in Massapequa; Lily Flanagan's in Islip and Babylon (the home of national recording artist and the New York Mets' favorite Irish singer, Martin Flynn); Irish Times Pub in Holbrook; Hunter's Pub in Carle Place; Finnegan's Taproom in Huntington; and more. Upcoming Long Island-based St. Patrick's-themed parades will take place in Bay Shore (The Greater Bay Shore 2015 St Patrick's Day Parade & Irish Heritage Event, on March 15 in Miller Place); the Montauk St. Patrick's Day Parade on March 22; the Westhampton

Beach St. Patrick's Day Parade on March 22; the St. James St. Patrick's Day Parade on March 14; and parade events in Bayport (March 22), Hampton Bays (March 21), Glen Cove (March 22), and Rockville Centre (March 21). Contact your local town fathers for times and routes. One of the biggest and best-organized annual events is the The Hofstra Irish Festival, to take place this year on March 15 from 11 am to 5 pm at Hofstra University in Hempstead. It's a bargain, too, at just $6 (and $5 for seniors, totally free for kids); the Irish Festival will continue to celebrate the Irish gifts of

music, food, and culture to America. There will be a number of music and dance performances throughout the day, as well as a variety of vendors and authentic Irish food. All net proceeds benefit the Hofstra University Scholarship Fund. For information, call (516) 463-6582 or log on to hofstra.edu. Something different: Enjoy a St. Patrick's-style dinner at The Custer Institute Observatory in Southold on March 15 beginning at 7:30 pm. Offered will be a home-cooked Irish feast prepared by Chef Chuck O'Cardona (and you can add your own culinary touch, as guests are free to bring their own favorite dish or dessert to add to the table). Observing, weather permitting, will follow; to learn more, call (631) 765-2626, or log on to custerobservatory.org. “Irish Comedy Night” takes over The Smithtown Center for the Performing Arts on March 13 at 8 pm, featuring six standup stars, all of Irish descent. For more information, call (631)724-3700, or log on to smithtownpac.org.

NYC/Queens: Of course, the event that attracts the most publicity is the annual New York City St. Patrick's Day Parade, which will likely become its usual public vomit-fest by its end; it kicks off around 11 am and will be broadHofstra cast on WNBC (Channel Irish Festival 4). The massive parade can be viewed on 5th Avenue between 44th Street and 79th Street. Expect super-heavy bus and subway activity both before and especially after the parade's end; bring your galoshes. Unbeknownst to some, there were other St. Patrick's parade options: The annual Queens County St. Patrick’s Day Parade is a smaller yet enjoyable affair … that gets missed by thousands as it takes place on the NYC Parade

first Saturday in March, a full 10 days before the actual holiday. Of course, Manhattan is packed withthe most famous Irish pubs Martin Flynn outside of County Cork: McSorley's Old Ale House, Tír Na Nóg, Finnegans Wake, Dempsey's Pub, Doc Watson's, The Wheeltapper, and Paddy Reilly's Music Bar spring to mind. Most of these venues also serve authentic Irish cuisine to go long with brews and ales from the old country. Just remember: If you imbibe, be safe getting home.

Hot Tub Time Machine 2

Starring Craig Robinson, Rob Corddry, Clark Duke, Chevy Chase, Adam Scott, Collette Wolfe, Kelle Stewart Directed by Steve Pink Paramount/MGM

We said it at the end of our review in our last issue for the truly dispicable The Wedding Ringer, and we'll state it again now: It's beginning to feel that there hasn't been a truly funny or memorable comedy made in at least two decades. Hollywood has reached the point where if it issues anything at all, it's a repeat – which brings us to Hot Tub Time Machine 2, the humor equivalent of a clogged toilet. Apparently, Paramount realizes this insipid sequel is a dog; the day before the film's release, the movie's actual hype website proclaimed “Coming Christmas 2014,” which means they delayed the opening of this waterlogged wreck. The only person connected with the Hot Tub Time Machine franchise that seems to have smartened up here is John Cusack, the original cast member who didn’t participate in the re-do. Cusack's role of Adam has been replaced by blank-faced Adam Scott – who has starred in everything from HBO's desperate sex drama “Tell Me You Love Me” to “Parks & Recreation” – as, well, Adam Jr. The fact that Adam Jr. seems to be about four years younger than Adam Sr. is

only the start of the problems. It really doesn't matter who attempts to act in this sordid type of weak comedy, since “acting” only means standing there between dirty jokes and doing one of three things: screaming, ogling, or swearing. Robinson, who is a born second banana but who somehow has been thrust into lead roles of late, is the new Dudley Dickerson, famous for

showing up in Three Stooges films just to comically scream in terror; Robinson seems to be cast in movies solely for his ability to yell or howl at least twice per movie, because heaven knows he had the thespian chops of a broken jacuzzi filter. Oh, yeah, the magical hot tub that can take people back in time; gee, what a funny concept – only this time, the tub can go into the future! Cars think for themselves! Dogs ride hover boards! Laughing yet? No? Well, just wait – our four “ hilarious” lead characters are ripped from their new successful lives, reunited, and get shot into 2025, where they encounter more scantily clad babes and tasteless groin-related humor than in an entire season of “Jackass ...” ... which is what you'll be if you spend $12 on this swill. Rather than wasting your time reading any more about this junk, here's a photo of bit player Bianca Haase in her underwear. There, saved you some time.

“Touring is probably the most rewarding thing we do as a band,” said TBS lead singer Adam Lazzara. “Being able to look people in the eye and see what these songs means to them as you are playing them is an experience that is hard to describe. We’ve done a lot of festival and co-headlining dates since Happinness Is was released, but we are really looking forward to our upcoming headlining

Suddenly, like a breath of fresh air, they’re everywhere: Power popsters The Ting Tings have returned, more glamorous and high profile than ever. Seemingly, the sexy duo continues to set trends and make headlines everywhere it goes; it sold out Bowery Ballroom just a few weeks ago. Returning for the first time since 2012, The Ting Tings – Katie White and Jules De Martino – have released Super Critical, their first album since setting the music world on fire. The album was recorded in, of all places, Ibiza, which seems natural for this glamorous, globe-hopping group. “We’d been to Berlin to make the second record and done nothing but get high and look at great architecture,” said De Martino. “Going to Ibiza had party written all over it. Obviously we were going to get nothing done.” Fans were first given a glimpse into the group’s new direction when it released the album’s first single, “Wrong Club.” “It’s about being in a club at 4 am and having to have a word with yourself

We wanted to make a song that felt exactly like the opposite of that. It’s very Ting Tings to do a sad song with uplifting music. That’s just who we are.” Since the album broke, The Tings have been as high profile as any act in the music world. They will perform at Moves Magazine’s “Kick-Off Party”

he world can rejoice now that Floyd Mayweather has agreed to fight Manny Pacquiao in Las Vegas on May 2. Since Pacquiao already has some losses on his record, it’s crucial to the boxing and pay-perview industries that Mayweather stay undefeated at all costs ... for now, at least. My guess is that Pacquiao will outbox Mayweather, but the judges will award the fight to Floyd in a split decision. The inevitable outrage from the public and the media, which the promoters and fighters will be counting on, will spur a rematch which will even do better business. When I asked King at the time if he was fun to be around, and it’s a shame that Knicks worried about badly mortgaging the future by fans never got to see the dominating player surrendering a lot of first-round draft choices that he was when he starred on the Phoenix for veteran NBA players as Joe Johnson, Paul Suns. He certainly gave it his all as a Knicks Pierce, Jason Terry, and the aforementioned player, and that is why you never heard him Kevin Garnett, he said that he wasn’t worried booed – and that’s in spite of his hefty contract, which never matched his limited proAmare duction due to injuries that he endured. Madison Square Garden CEO, Oyster Bay Stoudemire resident, and loyal Good Times reader James Dolan was ripped by nearly every media outlet for sending a nasty email back to a disgruntled Knicks fan named Irving Bierman who attacked his stewardship of the Knicks. Yet, I’ll defend Dolan: “JD” could merely have ignored Bierman’s screed of a letter to him and there wouldn’t have been a story. Instead, Dolan showed both passion in his response and that he was a regular guy and not some out of touch rich man. Dolan is visible in the front row at most Knicks games, and it’s clear that he takes the losses personally. I would rather have him as an because Prokhorov didn’t care about salary owner than absentee Nets CEO Mikhail caps and that he could acquire free agent playProkhorov, whose team has more ers. CLASSIC ROCK

Boz Scaggs

Still Rockin': Boz Scaggs will release a new studio album, A Fool To Care, on March 31 via 429 Records. This new collection of songs is the follow-up to the 2013 album Memphis, which hit the #1 spot on the Billboard Blues Chart and the Top 20 on the Billboard 200. On the album, Scaggs tackles Li'l Millet & The Creoles' Def Leppard "Rich Woman," as well as The Impressions' "I'm So Proud." Produced by Steve Jordan (Stevie Nicks, Bob Dylan, John Mayer) and recorded over four days at Blackbird Studio in Nashville, A Fool To Care features special guests – Bonnie Raitt contributes slide guitar and sassy vocals on the original song "Hell To Pay," and Lucinda Williams trades vocal lines with Scaggs on The Band's "Whispering Pines." The core band joining Scaggs on A Fool To Care is Willie Weeks (bass), Ray Parker Jr. (guitars), Jim Cox (keyboard) and Steve Jordan (drums). Scaggs delivered a riveting show at NYCB Theatre At Westbury a few months back … Def Leppard returns to the road this summer for an extensive North American tour. The Live Nation-promoted tour, hitting nearly 50 cities across the U.S. and Canada, will feature the band performing at Nikon at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh on July 23 … The ultimate tribute to Frank Zappa – Zappa Plays Zappa, featuring Frank's guitar hero son, Dweezil – returns to the area on July 25 at The Beacon Theatre in New York City … Legacy, Sony's label that focuses on classic artists of all genres, will issue a remastered 30th anniversary edition of Judas

Favorites & Legends Rock On Priest's Defenders Of The Faith today (March 10); March 24 brings a new CD/DVD documentary on Kansas, entitled Miracles Out Of Nowhwhere, as well as a reissue of The Staple Singers' Freedom Highway Complete - Recorded Live at Chicago's New Nazareth Church, on that same date … Terry Manning has long been one of the legendary classic rock producers and engineers – he's worked with Al Green, ZZ Top, The Staple Singers, Albert King, Shakira, Lenny Kravitz, and more artists than we can list here – but many people seem to have forgotten that Manning was an artist in his own right before concentrating on production. Now, Manning is again stepping forward as a recording artist, walking to the other side of the glass for his new album, Heaven Knows. "I got into music initially as an artist, and to be an artist," said Manning. "I just got diverted somewhere along the way in making the records for, you know, like a hundred other artists." Manning's recent road back to being the artist he started out as began in 2013, with his tribute album to mentor Bobby Fuller, West Texas Skyline. Manning's new album is available now.

After a slightly longer than average hiatus, I’m back to give you the low-down on what you wanna know. Lots of stuff has been happing in recent weeks, including the 24-hour DJ set from Jack U and the release of their new album on iTunes. Although the release date was supposed to be later, they dropped this surprise on us during their day-long set which got cut short by the police after 18 hours. But anyways, first I want to talk to ya’ll about the Datsik show I went to the other week. It was a very well rounded, powerhouse lineup of Kennedy Jones, Barely Alive, and Datsik at the F Shed in Syracuse, NY. It had the mixture of trap and dubstep that I like to see in shows, giving you the ability to go crazy but to also get down and dance if you want to. One thing I really like about Datsik is that he doesn’t just stick to EDM. He often tends to throw in old school hiphop and popular songs and then takes them and mixes them up with EDM songs. Datsik also has a certain flow about him. His transitions are smooth, yet he someone crosses over different genres with different BPMs. He also brought his signature lighting/stage setup, DJing from within his Vortex of video mapped screens. Unfortunately, the show ended rather early at 11 pm. Luckily for me though, Barely Alive was playing a set at the Westcott Theater; not too far away from the F Shed. My friend and I headed over there fore a more intimate experience. The F Shed venue holds several thousand people in it where the Westcott Theater can only accommodate a few hundred. With that smaller space comes a closer experience with the artists. You feel immersed in their set and you can literally make eye contact with the artists themselves. Kennedy Jones joined in on the fun, making it a set run by the two artists who preceded Datsik at the F Shed. One thing I really liked about the after-party was the fact that it actually had a party vibe. I didn’t feel like I was

at a concert, I felt like I was with a large group of people just having fun and interacting with each other. There were a good amount of people on stage and everyone was just enjoying themselves. That’s what I like to see in a concert and I definitely felt the trip to Syracuse was worth it to see this crew of artists. With that being said, I will be checking out Excision this week and will promptly update you on how that goes. With all this free time I’ve had in the past, I’ve been able to explore lots of different songs and sounds and get some new music to share with you! Now, this would be a column without me making a plug for myself, right? Anyways, I’ve been working with my friend for a while and we’ve finally released our edit of “Most Pit” by Flosstradamus. It’s a twerk edit of the original and goes hard; exactly what you want. You can check it out at either my Soundcloud account (soundcloud.com/Schwaygar) or his (soundcloud.com/bigmakmuzik). I’ve definitely been getting a lot more into trap and twerk recently and that can easily be seen in the music that I’ve been downloading. I have very high praise for RL Grime’s new album, “VOID”, which has its set of bangers as well as more mellow, chill trap music. Fun fact: If you like the song “Kingpin” feat. Big Sean, that was produced by RL Grime. There’s a solid variety on that album and I consistently place “Core” and Will Sparks

“Scylia” when I DJ as those have the hard-hitting bass needed to get the crowd going. In on the topic of hard-hitting bass, the “Party UP (GTA Remix)” is the go to song to get any show jumping and dancing. There’s so much energy in this song that it’s pretty hard to contain yourself when it gets played. Some other songs to check out that go in are “Take U There (TroyBoi Remix)” by Jack U, “Trifecta (If You Don’t)” by DJ Sliink, TWRK, and Green Lantern, “BingBong 2.0” by NYMZ, and the TJR edit of “Ah Yeah” by Will Sparks. Contact me at richiegtechno@gmail.com. Keep raging my friends!

Another national act performs there in Parmalee, one of country's hottest acts featuring the charismatic brothers Matt Thomas and Scott Thomas, who perform with cousin Barry Knox and Josh McSwain. The hits: “Carolina” and “Close Your Eyes,” which was in the country Top 20 just a few months ago; their new hit is “Already Callin' You Mine.”

Steel Wolf Hot Honey Liquor Independent

Who: One of the area's longest-lasting hard rock acts, Long Island's Steel Wolf, returns with 11 new original tracks. Band members include Mark Adomaitis (lead vocals, percussion); Mike Jaillon (electric and acoustic guitars, piano), Al Kezys (drums, vocals), and Ed Kezys (bass, acoustic guitar). The Artists & Their Sound: There's nobody like Steel Wolf; they continue to shake the walls while keeping their tongues firmly in their cheeks. This

time out, whimsy such as opener “A Little Nutty” and “Slip Of The Nip” rest side by side with “Three Hole Punch” and (the acoustic ... and bongoladen!) “Forty-Five Minutes In The Bathroom.” Mix The Ramones (though, to be honest, this band has more chops) with “Weird” Al Yankovic and dip them in Red Hot Chili Peppers, and you get Steel Wolf. If you like your hard rock with a side dish of silly raunch, this is for you. This album was recorded at Islandia's REI and Garden City's Lyric Studios, and was mixed and mastered by Joseph J. Fogarazzo. The sound quality is major league throughout. The Songs: “A Little Nutty,” “Slip Of The Nip,” “Sunday Morning (Where's The Krupnikas?),” “The Devine Warrior,” “Three Hole Punch,” “Forty-Five Minutes In The Bathroom,” “Hot Dog Stand,” “Tex-Mex Sex,” “Lurning Disabilitys,” “Eye Don't Wanna See You,” “Salmi Of Wild Birds.” To Learn More About The Band: According to the band, this new music is available at iTunes and Spotify; they told us to tell you that “more about the band can be learned on Wikipedia and Facebook.”

Geri DeJohn Four-Song Demo Independent

Who: Geri DeJohn, a member of Long Island Cabaret Theatre, became a local media sensation last year for self-produced YouTube videos that attracted thousands of views. She's also a member of Flyboy, which also consists of Alex Calvo (her

guitarist and manager), Annie Calvo, John Collins, and Darrin Jenkins. According to a press release, DeJohn is on the cusp of signing a development deal; stay tuned for more news. The Artist & Her Sound: These songs were written and produced Geri by Alex and DeJohn Annie Calvo and DeJohn. This time out, the sound is a clearly bit more upbeat and upfront, with pleasing results. “Karma” is radio friendly with more of a gritty sound, but the more sedate “It's Over” has a grabbing hook that makes is a possible hit single. “Rude Awakening” is easily the most rock-oriented track we've heard from the velvet-voiced DeJohn yet, and we're eager to hear more. To Learn More About The Artist: This “minialbum” is now available at iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, and all other major online stores. Find Geri DeJohn at Facebook, or contact her management at wheresringo1@aol.com, or call (516) 318-4055.

Dust Off That Guitar: Be A Musician In 2015

Gizmos, Gadgets, & The Latest Trends Photo: Guitarist by wixphoto.com

After seeing their favorite band or guitar hero live, many people are inspired to play the guitar. However, often that very guitar is now lying untouched and gathering dust in the corner of a room. A New Year's resolution for aspiring guitarists in 2015 should be to dust off that guitar and get playing again. “The key to successfully learning the guitar is structured lessons and regular daily practice,” according to Anthony Pell, the author of the book Learning To Play The Guitar – An Absolute Beginner’s Guide. “For beginners, the first few weeks are critical to develop fingertip calluses and coordination to play the main guitar chords,” said Anthony. Once these goals have been reached, people can begin playing songs and actually have fun playing the instrument. Structured lessons ensure that the student gets over these initial playing hurdles by providing specific tasks and goals to achieve. Otherwise, beginners can be overwhelmed with the vast amount of guitar lesson information available online and lose focus – or worse, have no idea on how to start playing and give up. Structured guitar lessons with a private

teacher or by attending group guitar classes are a great way to learn. However, these can be

expensive and many try to save money by learning from guitar lesson videos on YouTube and other sites. However, these online video lessons tend to lack structure. They can also

miss vital topics and techniques that beginners need to learn to prevent bad habits forming which can limit their future guitar playing abilities. Another solution that provides structured lessons are good quality beginner guitar books, either in print or eBook format (a good source for guitar instruction books are area music stores). With any guitar book, ensure that it uses a structured lesson plan designed to help a beginner’s progress. Also, before making a choice, check for positive reviews, topics appropriate for beginners, and that it is easy to understand. Choosing the right beginner guitar book can be the difference between success or failure ... and ensuring that the guitar remains dustfree in 2015. For more information: learningtoplaytheguitar.net. Here's another way to go: Check with your favorite Long Island music store about personalized, one-on-one lessons, which can be both encouraging and educational – as well as surprisingly affordable. You learn baseball from former professionals, and pro music teachers can give your interests a big lift as well.

Get Scarlette Fever:

Hot UK Rocker Touring U.S.

UK rocker Scarlette has joined the “2015 Passport Approved West Coast USA” tour currently underway; she's appearing alongside New Beat Fund, Buffalo Sunn, These Reigning Days, and Forest Blakk. Since emerging in 2011, Scarlette has built a live following helped by support tours with Caro Emerald, Mike + The Mechanics, and Roachford. Unlike many of the new women of pop music, Scarlette is a rocker to the core; she's scored consecutive BBC Radio 2 playlists for her singles “Crash & Burn” and ”Elated.” Her slot on the current tour is not her first venture to the U.S.; she's performed multiple times at The Hard Rock Café in Hollywood and The Viper Room on the Sunset Strip. The artist is currently putting the finishing touches on her upcoming album, Attack Of The 6ft Woman. Learn more at scarlettefever.co.uk, or find her on the social media sites Facebook and Twitter.

Kid Rock:

Kid Rock's summer tour to support his new album, First Kiss, will once again price most of the tickets for the trek at just $30 – all the more remarkable as Foreigner will open on all stops of the tour. Rock did that same thing during his 2014 as well. The tour kicks off June 24 in Hartford, includes six nights in Detroit, and wraps September 5. Tickets for this tour will be handled as they were for the last run, with every effort made to keep fees down and scalpers at bay.

“Shoulda Coulda Woulda” is available at iTunes now. “Shoulda Coulda Woulda” was written by Storm and longtime collaborator and music veteran Frank Greenfield (Timbalnad, Usher, Kelly Rowland). “People want to stay in that happy place, put their heads in the sand … and that’s what the song is about,”said Storm. “Being in denial, staying in a relationship that’s not very good. There’s a line, ‘Take me to that place where I forget your lies,’ and that very much embodies that struggle, wishing we could go back in time, knowing that we can’t. Needing to move on.” For more information visit: christinestorm.com.

The Perfect Storm: Christine’s New Hit

Pop/rock artist Christine Storm has released a new single, “Shoulda Coulda Woulda (The Remix).” The pop/rock track features vocals by Storm with traces of the classic rock which has influenced her and the dance-infused pop sound of her new music.

Debbie Harry will perform a 10-night residency at Café Carlyle in New York City from Tuesday, March 24 through Saturday April 4, marking her debut at the famous cabaret inside the historic Carlyle Hotel on the Upper East Side. Her show will be of material that she doesn't usually get to perform with Blondie – much of which will be from her solo albums – mixed with a few surprises. Some of the co-writers of the songs will be sitting in occasionally. Audiences will be treated to rare live performances of cuts from Harry's solo catalog, and she will also divulge the range of moods and inspirations behind these songs in an intimate, stripped-down setting. Meet Guantanamo Baywatch

What’s In A Name:

No gimmicks here: Portland, Oregon's Guantanamo Baywatch has built its reputation on wrangling up a ribald mishmash of classic surf instrumentation and brash garage rock; their new album, Darling … It's Too Late, hits stores on May 12. “Oldies weren’t lo-fi,” said Guantanamo Baywatch guitarist and vocalist Jason Powell. “We really wanted a mixtape compilation sound to the record.” That approach can be heard in both the songwriting and the production; according to Powell, each song was approached with all the amps and the EQs on the recording console zeroed out. That meant that every song was recorded with a new template. The title track and lead single, “Too Late,” captures this aesthetic. Stream “Too Late” on SoundCloud; learn more at guantanamobaywatch. bandcamp.com.

Country Mary Sarah In Serious Demand: The just-ended year of 2014 was quite the productive one for country music newcomer Mary Sarah. At just 19 years old, she has already sung a lifetime of country music. The proof is in Bridges, the Texas native’s album of 12 duets with the architects of the country genre. The list of names on the album is dizzying: Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Vince Gill, Tanya Tucker, and the late Ray Price are among those who, duly impressed and charmed by Mary Sarah’s voice, lent their own to the album. “Mary Sarah is a beautiful young lady with a beautiful voice,” said Willie Nelson, who sang with the future star on his Mary Sarah timeless ballad, “Crazy.” It’s songs of that caliber that make up Bridges, from Haggard’s “The Fightin’ Side Of Me” and Vince Gill’s “Go Rest High On That Mountain” to Parton’s “Jolene,” and Tucker’s “Texas (When I Die).” The Oak Ridge Boys, who collaborate on “Dream On,” were among the first legends to recognize the poised teen’s talent, praising her “impeccable” voice that “soars like an angel” after seeing a performance by Mary Sarah — who already has amassed thousands of followers on Twitter — on YouTube. “I got to where I’m at through social media and miracles,” says Mary Sarah with a smile. “I’ve been singing since I was 8 years old, touring and posting my performances on YouTube.” Floored by what he heard, the Oaks’ Joe Bonsall tweeted Mary Sarah an invitation to join them at their show — and later surprised her by asking her onstage. “They asked me to sing at their concert that night. It was incredible,” she said. “My love of the legends of country music grew, and that’s how this project was born.” A disciple of classic country storytelling, Mary Sarah found a mentor in Freddy Powers, the songwriter behind such staples as

COMEDY Haggard’s “I Always Get Lucky With You,” as well as a friend to some of country’s biggest names. As executive producer of Bridges, he helped Mary Sarah assemble her duet partners and realize her dream: introducing these songs to a new audience. “While I was recording the album, I’d say, ‘I got to sing with Merle Haggard.’ And my friends were like, ‘Who?’” she said. “I couldn’t believe that someone might not know who Merle Haggard is. Which is why we named the project Bridges. I see it as something that spans now and then, and brings that music back over to this generation.” Yet, the album is also a tribute of sorts to Freddy Powers, who is

suffering from Parkinson’s disease. The final track, “All I Want To Do Is Sing My Song,” features Mary Sarah's duet with an old vocal track of Freddy’s. “I just wanted him on this album,” she said. “Freddy Powers took a chance on me and miracle after miracle, artist after artist, signed on.” Chief among them was Dolly Parton, who was the first to jump onboard. “When we sat down in the studio, I was shaking,” said Mary Sarah. “She walked in and I couldn’t believe it. I was about to sing ‘Jolene’ with Dolly Parton herself!” At its core, Bridges is all about songs like “Jolene.” Whether performed by the artists who made them famous or an 18-year-old ingénue, the dozen tracks of the album are timeless compositions. “I want to bring back just a little bit of the old country and let people know about these songs,” said Mary Sarah. “It’s what I love and I want to connect listeners to it.”

The Hart Of Comedy: Entertainer, actor, and comedian Kevin Hart – who couldn’t be hotter, as he’s appeared on everything from “Saturday Night Live” to PBA bowling to starring in several films during the past 18 months – has announced a massive North American arena tour. The “What Now?” tour will take the awardwinning comedian to 45 cities throughout the U.S. and Canada. Promoted by Live Nation, what is being billed as “the biggest comedy tour in history” kicks off on April 9 in San Antonio, Texas at AT&T Center, and includes dates at New York City’s Madison Square Garden as well as a stadium date in Philadelphia (his hometown) at Lincoln Financial Field. Melody Rose

A Long Island Treasure Goes National With New EP

Who: Pop/soul singer/songwriter Melody Rose – a longtime area favorite – recently released her self-titled debut EP, available now. Her soulful vocals blend with her jazzinfluenced pop music. "Last Call," one of the lead singles from the debut EP release, premiered with rave reviews on Pop Dose, which proclaimed: "There's a quirky quality to her singing that makes her brand of pop so appealing." Raised here in Long Island, Rose attributes her unique vocal style to her various musical influences, training classically in opera for nine years and in jazz for seven. Rose continues to hone her craft as a singer/songwriter, which has led to the release of her debut album with producer Ryan Lerman. The Artist & Her Sound: During the past several years, area fans have heard Rose sing virtually every music genre during her shows, which have taken place everywhere from VFW halls to New York City’s Rockwood Music Hall. Now, she’s forming her own sound, which merges pop, R&B, funk, jazz, and rock into her own original style. “For the past couple of years i have been focusing on my original music, and my influences come from a variety of genres,” said Rose, whose amazing voice can run the gamut from full-throated to silky smooth. “I have a jazz and classical background in my training as a musician, but I am also a huge fan of rock & roll. Some of my favorite artists include The Beatles, The Beach Boys, David Bowie, Billy Joel, Ella Fitzgerald, and Stevie Wonder, and I'd like to think my music encompasses some of the elements of my musical influences.” After performing covers for years – a seeming prerequisite for getting gigs in Long Island – it can be a daunting task for a young artist to present original material. Rose, however, doesn’t seem fazed at all by the challenge. “I work at a lot of places around the Island as a cover band/cover artist, and I am very familiar with that whole scene,” she said. “I think that it is hard to break into Long Island as an original artist unless you play covers. I play my original music at all of my gigs, but I mix them in with a set full of cover songs. It helps build my following for sure. More Long Island cover artists should do both.” When asked where she’d like her career to be five years from now, her answer was as solid and smart and the performer herself: “I'd like to keep performing and recording my music. As long as I am still singing my songs, I will be happy.” To Learn More About The Aritst: Log on to melodyrose.net (her new EP is available there), or find her at Facebook and Soundcloud (listed as “Miss Melody Rose”). Rose’s next area performances are March 19 and 26 at Milk & Sugar Café in Bay Shore.

RHYTHM TRACKING

By Jimi LaLumia

Still A Wonder: It is an ongoing topic at Rhythm Tracking that, for whatever reasons, many mega-stars of Motown never truly get the accolades they deserve. The Marvelettes are still not in The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame; The Supremes never received a Grammy Award, nor did a solo Diana Ross (though the Grammys finally gave her a "lifetime achievement" award in more recent times). The true musical genius that is Stevie Wonder has never really received the attention that he is due – but Lesley that all changed when CBS Gore devoted a two-hour special talent. She brought the tuxedoed featuring current stars paying audience to its feet, and brought homage to his music. Beyoncé, Andrews (who can no longer sing Lady Gaga, John Legend, Ariana because of vocal chord damage) Grande, and Jennifer Hudson to tears. All those who claimed were among many standout perthat Gaga is a talentless freak formances. As a result, Wonder's show were transformed into album sales increased by 200 stone, into pillars of salt. There is percent after the broadcast, with no stopping her now, and, as if to Songs In The Key Of Life and rub it into everyone's faces, she greatest hits titles jumping into the Top 10 of Amazon's Best Seller has signed to star in the next edition of "American Horror Story." charts. Maybe she'll break out one of the Such A Lady: As if Gaga's old costumes for that. Go, Gaga! performance on the Wonder A Legend Passes: It’s always special and her chart-topping sad to hear of the passing of team-up album with Tony Bennett another 1960s pop star (I was a weren't enough to solidify her teenager back then), but nothing resurgence/self-reinvention, she knocked things out of the ballpark struck me the way that teen queen Lesley Gore's death did. She was with a tribute to Julie Andrews the bright face of a quite dark and The Sound Of Music on the decade; always another uptempo, recent Oscars broadcast. Wearing bubbly Top 40 hit to make everyan elegant gown and a steely determination, she sounded like a thing seem right. She remained a closeted lesbian until more recent pop opera star, hitting and holdtimes, which made her "I'm in ing notes that even the auto tune love with a boy" tunes all that robots couldn't duplicate, and more ironic – although she did casting a spell with her organic cut a track back then called Lady "Sometimes I Wish I Was a Gaga Boy"; oh, dear. But it's the classics that endure: "It's My Party," "Sunshine, Lollipops And Rainbows," "She's A Fool," "You Don't Own Me," "(Isn't That) The Look Of Love." She also peformed on the old Batman TV series as Catwoman's sidekick, and belted out "California Nights." Rest in peace, Lesley, and thank you for the sunshine.
