TO STRENGTHEN P APER CUP AS A FURNITURE COMPONENT A series of folding and interlocking method is studied. The weakest part of the cup, the section with the largest diameter, is folded into star shape. By interlocking the folded cups a piece of flexble furniture is created.

By looking into the production crew structure and the daily routine of the filming crew, the fast and rapid living style is observed. 3rd Place, Competition of Intergrated Design School for the Socially-aware education, Social Design Foundation COLLABORATE WITH Nam Wu & Kenton Lam Architects design space that we live. Under the undeliable fact of globalization, architects build out of their own countries. However, we all come from different countries with different backgrounds and experiences. Decisions in architectural design are deviated by our different values. It is a potentially dangerous move. Without clear understanding of the city itself and its citizens, those buildings may not be effective to the users or even give adverse effect to them. At this age, socially aware design education should be based on close contact with the users, with clear picture of the city fabric. A mobile school, travelling over the world,giving totally different insight to students from different backgrounds, initiating close interaction with the locals is our proposed tool for developing design student’s social awareness. 1 Scale of Travelling school

Pop up cells connected by Vertical Automatic Delivery System Traditional carparks are marked as dark and unwelcomed. To reverse this condition, programme weaving of car parking space is our solution. The complexity of site context is addressing the potential of different city life during different times of a day. highzone

Central - next to one of the most busy street in Hong Kong, Connaught Road - next to City Hall, cultural icon - connected to central commercial destrict - convenient access to public transportation. We are proposing an automatic car delivery system as a response to the need of quick access with high density. And we also benefit in having control of the location of occupied car slots, the system can flexibly rearrange the cars so as to provide extra space for any pop-up activities.

The top floor restuarant is equipped with a fixed kitchen with flexible seatings, the parking lots can be occupied as seatings when there are more people come to the restuarant. The pop-up studio space is a key component of the self suitainable maintanance of the building. By renting out the unused car lots, income generated could be used as the maintainace cost of the highly mechanical system of the car park tower.

Good architecture brings happiness. We believe all people should have the equal opportunity to enjoy, partake in and have access to the design of architecture and environment. IDEA Project is a NGO in Hong Kong aiming at exploring solution towards sustainable design and community participation. We would like to set up a good example of sustainable architectural design and particiaption. We aimed to improve the livelihood of the villagers in remote areas, and empower the underpriviledged and the poor in the developing world with design opportunity.

The temperature difference between outdoor and indoor stimulate the growth of bacteria, especially in hot and wet season.

PRET A DINER BERLIN 2012 (2011 - 2012)

Pop up Restaurant design for Pret A Diner 2012, Berlin, Germany NOVONO. Project role : assist the designer on concept brainstorm and drawings

The project is to design and build a pop up restaurant in an old building in the city centre of Berlin. The Pret A Diner restaurant travelled around the world and stayed three months in every city. The construction time is one week.

The design concept of Pret A Diner Berlin was inspired by the architectural feature of the building. There are lots cage-liked window frames in the building, with the very limited lighting supply of the building the site looks like a prision. The design play with the escape from the cage. Flying birds and spots of light are the main elements to play with.

the flipped models with different concave-convex relationship were remodelled. And panelized by pepakura series of experiments on deforming the buttons were carried out finally a set of relationship between “points on curve” and “panel” was explored Through drawing curves with ten control points but with different curvatures. Different density of panels were found. This tessellation methodology was carried on for further development.

the task is to design a public bathhouse in Dumbo Pearl Sqaure, New York. The bathouse comprised of two different kind of bathing experience, the fast and the slow one. The strategy is to create an interlocking pathway relationship enclosed by a water structure.

the smooth envelope of those paths were panelized by pepakura. Same methodology used in the button project applied here too. By manipulating 2D panel pattern, the smooth surfaces were broken.

The structure transported water of different temperature around the whole bathhouse. The envelope is the skin as well as the core. The 2D manipulation from pepakura pattern maintained the general pattern of the skin and the same time provided little gaps for lighting and ventilation. This situation is perfect for public bathhouse as it created a semi-private conditions. pepakura pattern 1/8"=1'-0"

<<How to Draw : I earned a smile>> This thursday when I were Bingbahn-ing again, an old woman sit opposite to me. She bent her brows all over the journey. I always love to draw wrinkles therefore of course this woman is on my drawing list. After I draw I felt like I wanted to give the drawing to the woman, i thought for while as I like the drawing very much. Finally I wrote something and gave this to the woman : Teach me draw, Brooklyn, New York

1.How big is your home? Do you like living there and why? 2. What do you want to do when you are 60? 3. How big is your ideal home? And what has to be inside? global research since 2010, participants from 17 countries until now

Yes, people from all over the world know this. The crazy housing price in Hong Kong also led to a pessimistic thought among the citizens. “What are we working for? We work day and night for 3o years but all our salaries go to the rent.” I collaborated with “Think Big, Act Big” on this housing workshop on rethinking how much space do we actually need and try to explore the potential of housing within the limited space supply in Hong Kong. I criticized on the typical flat units of Hong Kong’s housing system. People have different lifestyles today so their needs of space differentiated. The improvement of information technology also allow us to live in small space with a computer. Of course we want a big house. But this time I am asking “How much do you want to pay for your house?”
