There are a number of advantages to Geisel Privathotels. Guests at our exclusive hotel group enjoy the kind of personalized atmosphere and individual service that the big chains simply cannot provide. All the hotels are also unique in today‘s hotel business because all four establishments are personally managed by members of the same family – and not executives from multinational conglomerates who lack hands-on experience in hotel management. The Geisel family‘s personal approach benefits from more than 100 years of experience handed down over the generations. This knowledge contributes to the creation of unique hotel concepts and helps maintain the creative space necessary for continued development.

1. We‘ll handle that. At Geisel Privat hotels, our professional service begins before you even enter the building. At the Hotel Königshof, the doorman plays a key role in providing the personalized service you can expect at a genuine family-owned hotel. 2. Rooms have numbers, people don‘t. The Geisel family knows the importance of treating each an every guest in a personal, yet discreet and courteous manner. 3. The brothers Carl, Michael and Stephan Geisel plan to carry on the tradition of family-owned hotels with the same innovative creati vity and professional commitment that characterizes the Geisel success story that began more than 100 years ago.

Since the early 1990‘s, Carl, Michael and Stephan Geisel, the fourth generation to manage the family business, have successfully carried on with the rare tradition of familymanaged hotels. Their personal commitment and innovative concepts follow directly in the footsteps of the Geisel family. It took courage and vision for Karl and Maria Geisel, the grandparents of the current owners, to rebuild the severely damaged Hotel Königshof after World War II. They installed full bathrooms throughout the hotel, making it one of Europe‘s most modern hotels. Carl Geisel and his two brothers were also planning for the future when they opened the anna hotel and equipped the business rooms of the Hotel Königshof with wireless LAN and free high-speed Internet access. Or when they opened the exclusive wine shop „Geisels Weingalerie“. Their approach has paid off. Editors from Germany‘s popular "Architektur&Wohnen" magazine rated the anna hotel as one of Europe‘s top 100. The Gourmet Restaurant Königshof, which was awarded 18 out of 20 Gault Millau points and one of the coveted Michelin Stars, has become recognized as one of the best restaurants in Germany. These are only a few examples of what makes family-owned hotels so very special.

A lot has changed since 1900. And we can hardly wait for you to join us in writing the next chapter in our long history.

The history of Geisel Privathotels dates back to the turn of the century with the management of the Löwenbräu beer tent at the Munich Oktoberfest, the world‘s biggest fun fair. At the time, no one imagined that this would eventually lead to the establishment of a group of exclusive hotels. This achievement would never have been possible without a vision. When Anna and Karl Geisel opened the "Pasinger Weinbauer" restaurant during World War I, they had already established themselves as pioneers. Introducing a wine restaurant was a bold venture back then, especially in a town like Munich where beer drinking is a tradition. The family

their first hotel, the "Rheinhof", conveniently located near the main station. A wide range of innovations, including an in-house laundry, butcher shop and an ice-making machine helped the Hotel Rheinhof become established as one of the most modern hotels in Munich.

business has always been characterized by an innovative spirit. And wine has continued to play an important role in the history of the Geisel family, paving the way for other new dining concepts.

In 1936, Anna and Karl Geisel purchased the Hotel Excelsior, which quickly became the best hotel in the city. Just two years later, they bought the Hotel Königshof, the third hotel in their exclusive portfolio.

The success of "Pasinger Weinbauer" led to the establishment of three other taverns. In 1935, the Geisel family opened

By this time, the Geisel family began to realize that they were writing their own chapter in the history of Munich.

Unfortunately, no one can singlehandedly control the course of history. World War II opened a very different chapter, ending with the confiscation or destruction of the Geisel family‘s life‘s work. But true pioneers can put even these kinds of setbacks behind them. Three generations later, Geisel Privathotels are a shining example of service and comfort. Anna and Karl Geisel would have been very pleased.

1900 The success story began four generations ago with the management of the Löwenbräu beer tent at the Munich Oktoberfest, the world‘s biggest fun fair. 1923/24 Anna and Karl Geisel opened the "Pasinger Weinbauer" and "Zum Brüderl" restaurants and boldly introduced wine to a beer-drinking town. Both restaurants were major successes. 1933 The Geisel family opened "Bürgerbräu" on Kaufingerstraße, a restaurant with a wine cellar, butcher shop and an ice machine. It quickly became the regular meeting place for the Bayern Munich soccer team and the city‘s prominent citizens. 1935 The Geisel family opened the "Hotel Rheinhof", conveniently located near the main station. With two restaurants, a beer bar, an ice machine, laundry and butcher shop, it was one of Munich‘s most modern hotels. 1936 The Geisel family took over the "Hotel Excelsior". Under the direction of Anna and Karl Geisel, it quickly became the best hotel in the city. 1938 With the purchase of the "Hotel Königshof", the Geisel family were well on their way to becomming leaders in the privately-owned hotel business. 1943 The "Hotel Rheinhof" was damaged beyond repair. The Victorian style "Hotel Königshof" was almost completely destroyed. 1945 The "Hotel Excelsior" survived the horrifying bombing raids and was used by the Allied Forces as a command headquarters. 1950 Karl Geisel Jr. and his wife Maria began to rebuild the "Hotel Königshof". 1956 Once the American occupation was over, the "Hotel Excelsior" was returned to the Geisel family who began immediately with full-scale renovations. 1959 With extensive renovations completed in time for the Oktoberfest, the Geisel family reopened the "Hotel Excelsior" with a spectacular ceremony. 1970 Helga and Carl B. Geisel assumed management of the "Hotel Königshof" and began general renovation work in close cooperation with the famous interior designer Sigward Graf Pilati. Two years later, in time for the Olympic Games, the Königshof was reopened as a new luxury hotel for the visiting celebrities. 1973 The Gourmet Restaurant in the "Hotel Königshof" was awarded with a coveted Michelin Star 1978 Completely redesigned, the "Gourmet Restaurant Königshof" became a trendsetter in Munich with nouvelle cuisine. 1986 The "Hotel Excelsior" was completely remodeled. Following the successful redecorating work in the Königshof, Helga Geisel worked closely with Sigward Graf Pilati to develop a totally new interior design concept. 1989 The "Hotel Excelsior" played a key role in establishing the "Summit Hotels & Resorts" cooperation agreement. 1991 The Geisel family‘s long tradition of selling fine wines led to the establishment of "Geisel‘s Vinothek". 1995 The Geisel family ventured again into new territory when brothers Carl, Michael and Stephan, the fourth generation in the hotel family, opened the "Cosmopolitan Hotel". This 3-star city hotel in the heart of Munich‘s fashionable Schwabing district was specially designed to meet the needs of a young target group. The hotel was completely furnished by Ligne Roset. 1996 Once again the "Hotel Königshof" underwent major renovating work. During the ambitious first phase of construction under the direction of interior designer Jochen Dahms, the number of rooms was reduced from 103 to 90 to create more spacious bathrooms, living rooms and bedrooms. 1998 The internationally renowned restaurant guide Gault Millau awarded the "Gourmet Restaurant Königshof" with 18 out of 20 points. 2000 Stephan Geisel, the youngest of the three brothers, opened "allaboutwine", a fine wine shop located on the ground floor of the "Hotel Königshof". On the third floor facing an inner courtyard, an exclusive wellness area was built with sauna, steam bath, whirlpool and gym. 2001 During the second phase of renovation at the "Hotel Königshof", the number of rooms was further reduced to 87 and two new categories were added: "Superior" and "Deluxe" combine modern business rooms with timelessly luxurious styling under one roof. 2002 The Geisel family once again made history by opening a design hotel dedicated to their great grandmother. The "anna hotel" became the fourth Geisel establishment located directly on the Stachus. Designed by Jochen Dahms, this new hotel features interiors by Donghia and an innovative lighting concept with LED technology. The hotel was acclaimed by Germany‘s popular "Architektur & Wohnen" magazine as one of Europe‘s 100 top design hotels. 2003 The "Hotel Königshof" was added to the exclusive list of "The Leading Hotels of the World". 2005 Hotel Königshof has been chosen for the "Hotel of the Year 2005" award. 2007 The lobby of the Hotel Königshof underwent major renovation work. Interior Designer Jochen Dahms created a luxurious and ageless place to welcome the guests of Hotel Königshof. 2008 Carl, Michael und Stephan Geisel received the award "Hoteliers of the Year 2008". 2009 “All about wine” is converted into “Geisels Weingalerie”. With this change of name, the interior of Stephan Geisel´s wine shop located on the ground floor of the Hotel Königshof is remodeled. 2011 The lobby of the Hotel Excelsior underwent renovation work. Furthermore, the youngest Geisel establishment, a restaurant located in Schwabing opened. The Geisels Werneckhof invites guests to enjoy high class seasonal cuisine with international influences. 2012 The conference rooms of the Hotel Excelsior are redecorated and expanded. In addition to room one, room two and room three, two new banqueting rooms, room four and room five are formed. During further renovation work, the number of hotel rooms is augmented to 118. Besides the anna hotel, anna´s next door is created. An additional double room and a generous suite with kitchenette invite guests for longer stays.

Appealing to exquisite tastes is simple when you settle for nothing less than first class. Along with the attentive service and exclusive atmosphere in Munich‘s luxurious Hotel Königshof, this is exactly what you will find in the Gourmet Restaurant Königshof, winner of a coveted Michelin Star.

A relaxed atmosphere

Plays an important role in the success of an event – whether it’s a business meeting or private celebration. The Hotel Excelsior offers the perfect setting with a comfortable ambience and most importantly, a professional conference staff dedicated to give your guests their undivided attention.

1+2+3 Room one, room two and room three are ideal for conferences, workshops and presentations for up to 50 guests. Cover page: Conference in room four & five and workshop in room four.

"Salon Hubertus" and bar (See overleaf for floor plan)

"Geisel‘s Vinothek" (See overleaf for floor plan)

Room one, room two, room three, room four and room five

Room four & five offers space for up to 120 guests.

An open staircase in the center of the lobby leads to the spacious "Salon Hubertus". In an exquisite ambience of more than 160 square meters featuring honeycoloured stone pine paneling and matching fabrics, you can host up to 120 guests for a company party, wedding, Christmas celebration or gala dinner. The unique atmosphere is reminiscent of an exclusive country estate.

Invite your friends or business associates for a taste of Italy in the middle of Munich. The exclusive "old country" atmosphere is enhanced by a wide selection of topquality Italian wines and original Mediterranean cuisine.

Following such an array of culinary highlights, it’s time to focus on work. With the room one (55 sqm), room two (62 sqm), room three (36 sqm), room four (55 sqm) and room five (57 sqm), you have five quiet conference rooms with natural lighting at your disposal. There is a variety of seating arrangements ranging from the classic u-shape, to block or classroom-style and row seating for lectures and seminars.

Of course, there is the option of using the rooms in combination.

"Demonstration Kitchen" (See overleaf for floor plan) This fully-equipped restaurant kitchen is a unique event location in Munich. You will find complete details in our special "Hotel Excelsior Demonstration Kitchen" brochure available from our banquet department.

You can also reserve the adjoining bar complete with your own personal bartender.

When it comes to planning and organizing your event, we are at your service with our special knowhow and many years of experience.

"Design is art in a functional form"

This maxim appeared on a poster for the New Munich Collection in 1984. Almost 30 years later, you can relax, eat and sleep surrounded by exclusive design in the anna hotel. A new-generation design hotel where the main focus is on genuine comfort. Anything else would be less than "functional".

23

The anna hotel is one of "Europe‘s Top 100 design hotels"

according to Architektur&Wohnen, a leading German architectural magazine. "Instead of pretentious interior design and exaggerated luxury, the anna hotel focuses on total comfort with huge beds and rain showers that feel like a tropical waterfall. The five original tower rooms are especially attractive". A&W special, issue 5/03 1 You're always welcome at the anna hotel: 24-hour check-in/check-out. 2 Instead of conventionally cool design concepts, interior designer Jochen Dahms works with warm colours and materials. 3–5 Luminous moments in the Suite "001": pretty in pink, matrix green, cosmic blue, juicy orange … 6 Panorama room on the upper deck with balcony and breathtaking view over Munich Cover page: Luxurious Suite "001"

Unique design presentation:

Sometimes the ambience for an event should be a bit more ambitious than that typically found in a Bavarian country inn. For example, like the ambience in the „anna hotel restaurant“. The anna hotel was rated by Germany‘s renowned Architektur&Wohnen magazine as one of Europe‘s top 100 design hotels.
