When you attend an audition or go see, you should have the following items, your heels, portfolio (Physical/Digital) and your Zed Card (Comp card)

The Lemonade Detox

Health & Fitness

So we know that you are always looking for ways to stay healthy and fit and we think we have come across a way to doing both. The Lemonade Detox aka. [The Master Cleanse], was founded by Stanley Burroughs, who published it initially in the 1940’s but became widely known 2008 due to Beyoncé crediting this method to lose 20 lbs for her role in the movie Dreamgirls. But do keep in mind that this cleanse is something serious and you should prepare yourself mentally with meditation and prayer before attempting it. The normal amount of time to be on the detox is 10 to 12 days, in which time you will cleanse your body of toxins. At which time you will need to consume 6 to 8 glasses of the lemonade, and in the evening drink salt water. So if you are ready and brave here you go: Ingredients

  

2 TBSP organic fresh squeezed lemon or lime juice (do not use canned or frozen or bottled juice) 2 TBSP organic maple syrup or sub with Pure Honey 1/10 TSP organic cayenne pepper 10 oz medium hot water (cold water may be used if preferred)

While you are on this detox, you should not consume any solid foods (if you can’t do this, eat small meals) and even after, you should ease back on to solid foods. On your first day off, drink fruit juice, a smoothie, protein shake. Day two off, try your luck with soup. Day three move on to something like a salad, but nothing too heavy or high in fat. Do remember that you started this cleanse to detoxify so make a conscious effort to change you eating habits for the better. Warning: You will experience cravings, aches, pains, mental irritability and fatigue. These are symptoms of your body’s detoxification. TIP: Add some light workouts to your routine, maybe stretching, yoga, or sit ups. Nothing to exhausting because of your energy levels. Also drinking water works well with this. Good luck! Healthy Eating!

Eating healthy can sometimes be a drag, No LIE! But here are a few meals that may make it more enjoyable !

BREAKFAST Vegan Breakfast Scramble In a frying pan over medium-high heat, combine ½ cup tofu (crumbled), a handful of spinach, ¼ cup chopped red peppers, 1/8 cup chopped onion, 1/8 cup chopped vegetarian bacon, and a few dashes of paprika. Sauté until veggies are cooked and tofu is heated through. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

LUNCH Mediterranean Pita Split open a whole-wheat pita and spread one side with 2 tbsp. hummus. Add 1 large roasted red pepper (sliced), 1 tbsp. crumbled feta, 1 tbsp. black olives, 5 slices cucumber, and a small handful of mixed greens.

DINNER Portobello Burgers Preheat a grill or grill pan. Whisk together 1 clove garlic (minced), ½ tbsp. balsamic vinegar, 1 tbsp. olive oil, and ½ tsp. fresh basil (finely chopped). Drizzle half the sauce over 1 Portobello mushroom cap. Grill the mushroom for 3 to 4 minutes per side, covered. Meanwhile, combine the remaining sauce with ½ tbsp. light mayo and spread on 1 whole-wheat bun (lightly toasted). Place the mushroom cap, 1 tomato slice, and 1 lettuce leaf on the bun.

Cover Story

11

“Ever since the age of ten I have always had a fascination with the camera and performing arts. My parents placed me in drama and dance classes. Then as I became more involved in Church activities it wasn’t long before I was participating in skits and plays.” —It was not until a family friend asked DeAnna to Model for a popular hair show that DeAnna turned her sights to modeling. “When a family friend asked if I would be interested in modeling for him, I was ecstatic but nervous because I had never Modeled. So I agreed, and to my surprise I did a good job and several other people were interested in utilizing me. After that experience, I had a true interest but I honestly did not know where to start or what to do next. So I did what most do, I Googled.” —She giggles as she regains her composure.— “I did not know what I was looking for but I came across an ad calling for Aspiring Models and responded. 12

That ad brought me to my current mother agent and model group, GB Model Group. When I walked in to meet with the Founder, Bianka, I did not know what to expect. She had me fill out an application, and walk for her. The application I did well, the walk, not so much. I was all over the place but when I was done Bianka sat me down and asked me what was it that I wanted to do? I was like um...model? She then asked what else? And I told her my passion for filming and production. She explained to me that Modeling had its ups and downs but as long as I utilize it correctly to help me accomplish my goals that, that was the big picture. Not too mention, I am only 5’3 so Modeling solely may be challenging because it’s an industry ran by Giants. I understood what she meant and assured her that I was ready to put in the work.” — For 24 plus weeks DeAnna went through a transformation, from a rugged tomboy to a poised lady who stood at 5’3 but walked the Catwalk like she was 6” tall. When she started going on auditions she really got to put what she had learned to the test.— “I remember on one of my first auditions I was nervous, but didn’t let it show of course, I walked in, handed them my Zed Card, walked the Catwalk and the first thing they asked was how tall I was, clearly I wasn’t 5’7 or taller so I answered, how tall do you want me to be? They burst out laughing and even though I wasn't the required height I suppose my personality, my walk and presentation got me in. During the rehearsals, the organizer used industry terms that some of the other Models did not understand and I did, that was reassuring, at that moment, I realized I was equipped with what I needed to know to succeed. I took that mindset and ran with it, I am more confident and comfortable with displaying that. My experiences are not always pleasant, sometimes no matter how good I think I did, I don't get chosen. Now that I am branching out into other markets outside of Atlanta, I am seeing that there are levels to this industry and I am just scratching the surface.” —So how do you handle those situations when you aren’t chosen?— “My intention is to approach situations positively and get in where I fit in. Like I said, there are levels to this industry, currently, I am expanding my resume to hosting, acting and being an on camera personality, and have started honing those skills.” CONTINUE TO NEXT PAGE 13

“Always be yourself, it sounds cliché but honestly, your personality is unique to you.” —What was the most difficult thing for you to adjust to when you first started?— “ Makeup! I never wore makeup, it was completely foreign to me. I didn’t understand how to us it, put it on, or what the difference was between foundation and concealer. After one of my classes during my development process, I started playing around with it, broke out a few times and eventually got better at applying it and finding the right type for my skin.” —What advice do you have for Aspiring Models?— “Always be yourself, it sounds cliché but honestly, your personality is unique to you. You can always change your looks, hair, body and style, and those things can be imitated. Also, practice, practice, practice. Practice makes perfect and if this is something you really want to do you have to be ready to put in the work. Like I’ve mentioned before, there are levels to this industry, so you always need to be on point and open to learning new things. —How long do you intend to Model?— “Good question, I’ve modeled for almost 2 years now, so until it no longer serves me. I’m making sure I use every opportunity afforded to me to accomplish greater things. —What are your thoughts about doing FREE shows?— “If the cause is aligned with my goals then I have no problem doing them. When you are NEW doing FREE gigs is how you build your confidence, brand, network and so forth.” 14

—What advice do you have about photo shoots?— The best way to approach photo shoots is not take yourself too seriously. The more fun you have the better the shots. —How important is social media for your modeling?— “Now-a-days it is the first introduction of you to the World. So what you put out is very important to how you will be perceived.” —It has been a pleasure hearing your story and learning more about you, where can people find and book you?— “Thank you, I can be found on Instagram, @DeAnnaW_Model and if you want to book me for a shoot, show, or hosting contact GB Model Group at 678.632.2363 or by email info@gbmodelgroup.com.” —GBMG
