The Power That

Heals!

Luke 5:23-25 “ Whether is easier to say Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk? But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise and take up thy couch, and go into thine house. And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house glorifying God.”

n studying the Gospels, it doesn’t take much to see the power of God demonstrated in and through the ministry of Jesus. In fact the very ﬁrst sermon Jesus preached emphasized on how the power of the Lord is present and available to do mighty works. In Luke 4:18-19 Jesus declares: The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me because He has anointed me to preach the Gospel to the poor, he hath sent me to heal the broken hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, recovering of sight to

the blind to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.” The word anointed here means to give power. What Jesus literally said here was that the Spirit of the Lord had given Him the power to free mankind from the bondage of sin. We see this power in action in Luke 5:2325. Here Jesus used that power to forgive someone of their sins. Jesus went on to say that forgiving someone’s sins, is just as easy as healing their bodies. Why? Because they are both done by the same power.

Luke 5: 17 tells us that while Jesus was teaching, the power of the Lord was present to heal. But no one in the house where Jesus was teaching received their healing. Even though the power of the Lord was available to heal, no one beneﬁted from it. But when another man, who was sick, came into the house, Jesus used the power to heal, that was present, to forgive the man his sins.

To beneﬁt from this power that liberated you, all you have to do is believe it. (John 3:16)

Imagine that! The scriptures say the power to heal was present, not the power to forgive. What was Jesus thinking? In fact some of the Scribes and Pharisees that were sitting in that house listening to Jesus, questioned among themselves this very thought. They literally thought who does this man think he is? Why does he think he take the power of God and release someone of their sins. The principle I want you to grasp is, they understood that it would take a power to release someone from the wages of their sin. Jesus knew that the power to heal was present, and He used that power to forgive the man his sins. Now notice this. Once the mans sins were forgiven, then Jesus used that same power to heal his body. Jesus proved to them that the mans sins were forgiven by healing his body. That’s what healing the body does. It proves that sins are forgiven! The same is true today. Jesus took the power that God entrusted to him, and has already forgiven you of your sins, by dieing on the cross. You’re FREE! To beneﬁt from this power that liberated you, all you have to do is believe it. (John 3:16) The same is true with the healing of your body. You and I can tap into that same power of forgiveness that is now available, and receive healing for our physical bodies by simply believing! I was preaching in a service one particular time, on the subject of HEALING. The Lord told me, a long time ago, during a time of prayer, that He had placed His Word in my mouth. He went on to say that when I minister His Word, His power would begin manifesting to heal. God made it clear to me that if the people would just believe,

�� He would begin healing them and delivering them through the ministry of His Word. Now don’t misunderstand me, the Word of God says to lay hands on the sick, and they will recover, so this ministry continues to obey that Word. What I am talking about is an anointing that brings DEFINATE Glory to God. I mentioned this to the congregation that day, while I was ministering. Not one individual came forward with their testimony of healing. I didn’t get upset or down, instead I went right on with the laying on of hands at the end of the service, with salvations and physical healings following. Later on that week, a woman who was in that service came up to me and reported to me of an aliment that she had suffered with all of her life. During that sermon, she began to feel a tingling sensation all over her body. She stated that she had never felt this type of sensation before. She said that she began to believe that God was healing her. She wanted to see the evidence on her body before she would testify what God had done. So when she got home that

afternoon she saw that the condition was gone. Glory to God, she experienced a dramatic healing, while being under the ministry of the Word. The critics of Gods healing message today need to understand that the same power that God used to forgive and release them from their sins, is the same power that He uses to heal their bodies. If you have received Jesus as Your Lord and Savior the power to forgive your sins has been released into your spirit. You are now free from the bondage of sin. That same power now, can be released into your body to bring freedom from the bondage of sickness & disease as well.

what God wanted Him say, and He only did what God wanted Him to do. God wants people free, so Jesus set people free. Never once did Jesus put sickness on someone. He took the power of God and forgave people of their sins, healed their bodies, and brought Glory to God It is time for the body of Christ to do the same today. It is time to hear the Word of God preached, take the power of the Lord that is manifested, forgive people of their sins, heal their bodies, and give God the Glory!

All it takes is you and I believing! Just like that man who came into the house where Jesus was ministering. The Scriptures say that Jesus saw their faith! Faith taped into the power of the Lord that was present that day. Faith caused that man to receive forgiveness of sins, and faith also caused that man to receive healing for his body! We need to begin ministering the Word of God, just like Jesus did when He was physically on this earth. Jesus was God manifested in the ﬂesh, and He only said

e has put His Spirit and Word inside you, and you know you are supposed to ﬁght and win this battle. You know you are supposed to be a winner and not a quitter—you have an inheritance in Jesus Christ to possess.

prepare everything for them. Those big guys had built beautiful houses with atriums and gardens, and they had plowed the ﬁelds and had grown all kinds of wonderful fruits and vegetables to eat. God used those giants to prepare everything for His children!

When I found out about my inheritance, I said, “Wait a minute! Those giants are sitting on my stuff! That land belongs to me.” If the children of Israel had lined up their imaginations and thoughts with God, they would have realized that He had had those giants

The problem was, the children of Israel did not see their potential in God, and they did not see the giants as God saw them. Instead, they had a grasshopper image of themselves and saw those giants annihilating them.

The other ten spies brought back an evil report. They measured their lives by their natural abilities instead of God’s Word and power. They saw themselves as grasshoppers, and God called that evil.

I had a similar experience when God called me to quit my job and go into full-time ministry. I had a great job that paid well and had good beneﬁts. I had a family, a mortgage, and the cars to pay for. All my bills seemed like giants to me. How could I quit my job Continued page on 4

and go into the ministry? That was where my thinking was at that time. My imagination was ﬁlled with pictures of me ministering full time in failure, poverty, and defeat. I began to wrestle with these images in my mind. The Holy Spirit was telling me to leave that job! In desperation I began to meditate this verse of Scripture: Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life. (Mark 10:29-30)

ministry that ministry was all I wanted to do. I became completely dissatisﬁed with my job even though it was a good job and everyone treated me right. One day I just picked up the phone, called my wife, and said, “I’m quitting my job!” She said, “Well, praise the Lord!” God had already prepared her heart, and we were in agreement that it was time to take that step of faith. I shudder to think what might have happened if I had not meditated on God’s Word and never allowed Him to change the picture I had of His faithfulness and my potential in Him. You see, I could not go where I could not see!

From this day on, let God ﬁll your imagination and thought-life with His Word and His will for your life.
