“PALIN PANDEMONIUM”

the Riveter with the iconic slogan, “We can do it!” and posters decreed “Read my lipstick!” A lone sticker plastered on the concrete floor of the pavilion simply showed an unflattering head shot of Barack Obama with the word “Scary” written over it. In her 20-minute speech, Palin reprised the greatest hits of her Republican National Convention speech. She presented herself as a reformer, insisting the “good old boy network of lobbyists” had no place in Alaska. She promised to end corruption in Washington, lower taxes and increase domestic drilling, inspiring chants of “drill, baby, drill” from the audience. She delivered her “thanks, but no thanks” riff about the Bridge to Nowhere, and the claim that she’d put the Alaska governor’s jet up for sale on eBay. Pledging that a McCain-Palin presidency would “shake up Washington” and “end corrupt practices,” she drank in the adulation of her throngs of supporters, a sharp contrast from her discomfort last week fielding Charles Gibson’s questions. Some Palin rally-goers started lining up at 8 a.m. in the 90-plus degree heat to get into the 5 p.m. speech, which took place in a facility that hosts pickup roller hockey games, inspiring Palin to give a shout-out to her sister “hockey moms” in the crowd. In this capital city of 50,000, where even the local Safeway has slot machines, the pavilion stands just down the block from the El Mundo Latino Western Wear store. The overwhelmingly white crowd that gathered to see Palin speak included Boy Scouts, single moms, high school cheerleaders, retired oldsters and multigenerational families with infants and grandmothers in tow. Recent polls show Nevada very much in play this November. In late August, a CNN/Time poll showed Obama up by 5 in Nevada. But a Rasmussen in early September showed McCain with a 3-point lead over Obama. An average of recent polls gives McCain a

minuscule lead of just 1 point in Nevada.

I want you to notice that the Word declares that prosperity and success belong to people who are hearers and doers of His Word. So to make this simple, if we are not hearing the uncompromised Word of God constantly, we cannot possibly be a people who will prosper and succeed.

Colossians 1:13 tells us that we have been delivered from the control and dominion of the darkness Not only that but God has already translated you and I into a place of liberty, a place of Glory, a place of freedom - and that place is His Kingdom!

Gods’ main thought here in Joshua 1:8 is compelling us to focus our attention on living our lives according to His Word. He doesn’t want us to live our lives controlled by our problems or our circumstances. He wants us free!

It belonged to the King himself, and this ring meant that Joseph was the second most important man in the country next to the King. With the ring, he possessed all the power of King Pharaoh. Jesus is our King. You are very, very, important to our King Jesus. You might not have an important ring to wear on your ﬁnger, but that doesn’t mean that you are any less important to God. God has given you something much more valuable than a ring. He has given you His Name - the name of Jesus. A ring can fall off your ﬁnger and get lost, but His name can be found in your praises everyday. A ring might get stolen, but His name can’t get stolen when you keep it deep in your heart.

Satan and all of his evil works must surrender to the name of Jesus. Peter, the apostle in the book of Acts, used the name of Jesus. Peter didn’t have any money. He wasn’t very popular. All he had was the Name of Jesus. Peter wasn’t afraid to speak the name of Jesus. Once spoken, the name of Jesus caused a poor, crippled man to walk! Jesus and His name are the same. He and His name will always go with you. Don’t be afraid to speak His name, because you truly are a child of a King! And that’s not pretend.

here are many Christians today who are frustrated; they don’t understand why they are not reaping God’s promises of blessing and prosperity. They are claiming His promises, but they are not following the principles and plan that God established concerning giving . As a result of not honoring God with their substance, they are not benefiting from God’s promises. God prospers and blesses us as we honor Him with our substance…with the wealth He has placed in our hands Regardless of your income or what you possess—whether it is a large or small amount—God expects you to honor Him with it. The word “plenty” in the verse above means “fullness; abundance.” The Hebrew root word is “to become satisfied.” The expression “so shall thy barns be filled with plenty” depicts the greatest possible abundance. When we honor the Lord with our substance, God promised to not only supply our needs, but to bless us with PLENTY…the greatest possible ABUNDANCE. Are you ready for God to bless you with the greatest possible abundance? We do not have the right and cannot expect to reap God’s blessings if we are not faithful in our giving to God and the work of His ministry. This may be hard for some people to accept, but it is true. We cannot expect God to deliver us out of financial bondage, prosper and bless us when we fail to be a good steward of what He has given us. Tithing does not mean you are a good steward; it simply means you are obedient and trust God & the His financial system.

Thomas More Law Center attorney Brian Rooney ﬁled the lawsuit on behalf of Bradley Johnson, a teacher at Westview High School. According to Rooney, Johnson ran into problems because of banners in his classroom. “Those banners had patriotic logos on them: our national motto ‘In God We Trust’, [‘All Men Are Created Equal, They Are Endowed By Their Creator’], and those kind[s] of historical, cultural vestiges of [this] country,” Rooney explains. Only one person objected -- Johnson’s boss. According to WorldNetDaily, school principal Dawn Kastner disliked the banners because they express a JudeoChristian point-of-view. “Not one parent or student had complained about these banners for 25 years, but the new principal...believed [Johnson] was in vi-

olation of church and state,” Rooney adds. The Law Center, which focuses on defending religious freedoms, claims that forced removal of the banners violates freedom of speech, Johnson’s First Amendment right, especially since the school allows other teachers to hang items on their walls that espouse Buddhist and Islamic viewpoints. Richard Thompson, president of the Law Center, believes that public schools tend to “exhibit a kneejerk hostility towards Christianity and seek to cleanse our nation’s classrooms of our religious heritage while promoting atheism or other religions under the guise of cultural diversity.” A federal judge has ruled that Johnson’s case has merit, calling the school’s actions “one-sided censorship” and not permissible under federal and state constitutions. “Really what happens in a situation like this [is] it settles out because the judge basically ruled that he thinks we’re probably going to win,” Rooney contends.
