Luke 13:10-13 And [Jesus] was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. And, behold, there was a woman, which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her to Him, and said unto her, “Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.” And He laid His hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.

ere we see Jesus making an astounding statement. “Woman, thou art loosed.” What did He mean when He proclaimed this? This woman wasn’t loosed. She had been bowed over for 18 years. Think about it. 18 years of constantly looking at the ground! 18 years of not being able to straighten your back and stand straight. 18 years of tremendous pain, and agony. What did He mean? Jesus proclaimed the truth. This woman was free, and she didn’t even know it. The fact may be, that you are walking in bondage, like this woman was, but the truth is, YOU ARE FREE. Jesus said in John 8:32 “And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall MAKE YOU FREE!”

Belong, Believe, & Be Free

To be made free, is different than being set free. Being set free, infers that you will have the opportunity to be placed in bondage again. Listen, the Word of God declares that we, not only have been set free, but we have been MADE FREE! YOU ARE FREE! Thank You Jesus! We cannot be held in bondage to anything, unless we choose to be!

The Bible tells us that we have already been delivered from the bondage of sin and the results of sin through Jesus Christ. Sickness (which is death in progress), poverty and spiritual death are all the results of the sin nature that has been passed down from Adam. Hebrews 2:14-15 we read how Jesus “. . . Himself likewise took part of the same; that through death He might destroy him that had the power of death, that is the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” We, who were subject to the bondage of the fear of death, have now been MADE FREE! The Word of God proclaims in Galatians 5:1; “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ has MADE us FREE….“

Many Christians don’t realize that they have been MADE FREE from whatever Satan use’s to keep them in bondage. The same was true for this women in Luke 13:10-13. Even though she was a daughter of Abraham, and through the blood covenant that he a had with God, was free, she didn’t know it.

ou believe God wants to prosper you. You have prosperity scriptures taped to your mirror and your refrigerator. You’re working hard to build your faith so you can receive greater and greater ﬁnancial blessings. But did you know it takes more than faith to prosper?

It also takes faithfulness. That’s right. How you manage the ﬁnancial resources you have today will determine to a great extent how richly God can prosper you tomorrow.

And that’s what Jesus does today. He blesses you by acting as your High Priest and interceding with the Father on your behalf. You acknowledge Him as High Priest by paying your tithes. That qualiﬁes you to be a steward of God’s resources.

Once you’ve determined to meet the basic requirement of tithing, you’re ready for the next key of biblical money management: Making a written plan. Many believers make the mistake with their finances of spending carelessly instead of planning in advance. As a result, much of their seed is wasted and they don’t enjoy the return God intended. Don’t let that happen to you. Obey the instructions in Habakkuk 2:2 and “write the vision” you have for your finances. What does it mean to write your financial vision? It simply means to design a budget that will help take you from where you are now to where you want to go; and to put that budget down in black and white so you can see it all the time. I realize “budget” is a dirty word to a lot of people but it is an absolute must if you want to prosper. God isn’t going to put great amounts of wealth into your hands if you have holes in your pocket. He isn’t going to dramatically increase your income if you can’t keep track of the amount of money you have now. So set aside your dislike of budgeting, sit down and figure one out. The Harp Player Obed-Edom heard the temple worship group was holding auditions. He remembered that when he was just a little boy, his mother had forced him to take harp lessons. In the list of temple musicians we find three people who are chosen to sound the bronze cymbals, several others whose names are to difficult to pronounce were to play the electric guitars (Do you know why my version says “electric guitars?” Because I am reading from the Amplified). Then, we find Obed-Edom playing the harp. Of all the harp players in Israel, ObedEdom may not have been the most talented, but God is not necessarily looking for the most talented, he is looking for someone who is willing. God does not call the equipped, he equips those whom He calls. It is not your ability that impresses God, but your availability. It is not your aptitude, but your attitude. God does not care about your IQ, He cares about your I WILL. God is looking for those who are willing to be used. The Door Keeper Later, Obed-Edom is a doorkeeper for the Ark, standing right in front of the holy place. We see him getting closer, and closer, and closer to the presence of God. This is what God wants to do for you, He wants to bring you closer, and closer to His presence. The Minister King David appointed Obed-Edom to be a minister in the house of God. But his ministry did not begin when King David put him in this position. Obed-Edom’s ministry began all the way back when he was a gatekeeper. I think he stood by the temple gates and ministered to all the people who came to worship God. God has called every believer to be a minister. God brought you through tests, so you would have a testimony. God rescued you from a mess, so you could have a message. God brought you through the fire so you could be on fire for Him. Never wait for your pastor to appoint you to an official position as a minister, begin ministering to those around you who are in need.

Obed-Edom was promoted because of his faithfulness. I have been privileged to meet some of the greatest ministers of our time, and each one has a story of starting out in ministry by cleaning the church toilets, or straightening chairs. If you are faithful with little things, God will eventually entrust you with many things .

In my life, I have seen this principle at work. Today, I regularly preach to crowds of 50,000 or more people, but that is not how I got started in ministry. I started in ministry by doing dramas for the children of Mexico. But, the messages I used to preach to 50 children, now I preach to 50,000 people. The Family Legacy Obed-Edom came from a horrible family background. His name means “slave” and “enemy of Israel.” But, all his children and grandchildren eventually serve with him in the house of God. The names of his children mean “Heard by Jehovah,” “Given of God,” “Healed by God,” and other great meanings. Obed-Edom reversed the curse over his family. God wants to do the same for your family. Because of your faithfulness to serve God you are building a family legacy that will continue to be a blessing for generations to come. Temple Treasurer The last time Obed-Edom is mentioned, he is the keeper of the Temple Treasury. King David entrusted him with gold worth 2.5 billion dollars. This is the last stage of spiritual promotion, when God gives you stewardship over great wealth.
