t Hampton University in Virginia on May 9th 2010, the president lamented that in an age of text messaging, the Internet and the iPad, information and its unfettered exchange had become a diversion that was putting a strain on democracy. We are not making this up.

Obama said. “All of this is not only putting new pressures on you, it is putting new pressures on our country and on our democracy.” Perhaps it’s easier these days to spread disinformation, but it’s also easier to correct it. If the president doesn’t know how to use these devices, how does he explain the June 26, 2008, issue of Rolling Stone noting that Bob Dylan, Yo-Yo Ma, Sheryl Crow and Jay-Z were featured on his, uh, iPod.

The “24/7 media environment,” he told the students, “bombards us with all kinds of comments and exposes us to all kinds of arguments, some of which don’t always rank all that high on the truth meter.” Does that apply to presidential speeches as well? We never thought of free speech as a problem before, but apparently the presiPresident Barack Obama Speaking At Hampton University dent does.

“I have pretty eclectic tastes,” Obama said in the Stone interview. He also has a pretty selective memory, forgetting that his presidential campaign announced its vice presidential pick via text message, email and Twitter. The Obama campaign Sunday May 9th 2010 broke new ground by “With iPods and embedding ads in such Internet games as iPads and Xboxes and PlayStations — none of which “Guitar Hero” as well as nine Xbox Live games I know how to work — information becomes a disfrom Electronic Arts Inc., including “Madden 09,” traction, a diversion, a form of entertainment, rather “Nascar 09,” “NBA Live 08” and “NHL 09.” But, hey, than a means of emancipation,” there’s so much information out there, it’s easy to Continued on Page 14

(Luke 6:47-49)

When we go to Jesus with our problems, and rehearse them to Him over and over again, the problem tends to become bigger in our eyes, than God.

otice he said here in this passage of scripture in verse 48 “….and when the flood arose.” Jesus didn’t say if the flood arises, He said; when...!

N

One word from Jesus will be your anchor through your storm, it will be the wind in your sails, the wisdom you need to overcome that obstacle.

The first thing the Lord wanted to point out is, in this world we are going to experience challenges. Jesus said in John 16:33 that in this world you & I will have tribulations.

Lets learn to go to Him, and hear what He has to say about our situation! God has already given us His written word. There are promises that He has spoken thousands of years ago, that are still true and relevant to you and I today!

You see even though we are not of this world, we still live in this world. By accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior does not mean we will not face a crises or other challenging circumstances in our lives. Now don’t let that be a blow to your faith. Because there is good news to all of this. You see its what we do during these times in our lives, that determine whether or not we will overcome or not. In Luke 7:47 Jesus gives us the way to overcome life’s challenges when they arrive. First in verse 47 we read Jesus say: “Whosoever cometh to me…” That is our first step in overcoming the crises we are facing. We need to go to Jesus. We need to go to Him as our source of strength, and comfort. To many Christians are still running to the world for their comfort during their challenges. They turn to other people, alcohol, cigarettes, food, gossip, slander, the blame game, working longer hours, you name it By doing so, they fall into the trap and snare of the devil. These things will not provide us our answers. Jesus is simply saying turn to me. Look to Me, I will provide you the answers you need. One thing that I have learned early on in my walk with the Lord, and that is the longer I am a Christian, the more dependant I have learned to be on Jesus. The second piece of wisdom Jesus gives us in verse 47 says, “…and heareth my sayings..” Once we turn to Him, we need to hear what He is saying about our situation. He doesn’t need to hear what we are saying about it.

When we come to Jesus the answer that He will give to us is in what He says. Kenneth Copeland said something that is so Biblical, and it rings true today. One Word from God can change your life for ever.

My question to you today, is WHAT IS HE SAYING TO YOU? When you find out what He is saying, then you will be on your way through that valley, through that storm, being able to accomplish the impossible! The third and final piece of wisdom Jesus gives us in verse 47 is: “… and doeth them…” When we turn to Jesus, hear what He has to say, and act on His Word, then we will be able to stand against the challenges we face. You see God will always give you a Word to act on. It is by acting on the Word that He gives you that you will succeed in walking through that valley. Romans 10:17 tells us faith comes by hearing the spoken Word of God. When we hear Gods word, we begin believing what we need to believe about our situation. But just believing something is not going to cause you to overcome. YOU AND I NEED TO ACT! James 1:22 tells us “But be doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” And finally in James 1:25 “ …but a doer of this work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.” Being obedient to act on his Word is what will empower us to overcome life’s challenges. That’s what the word blessed means here in James 1:25. It means to empower. We receive the power to overcome, to walk through, to stand against the storms of life when we; GO TO JESUS, HEAR WHAT HE IS SAYING, BELIEVE WHAT HE SAYING, & THEN ACT ON WHAT HE SAID!

PRAYERS ANSWERED

Seniors Can Pray Before Meals at Georgia Center

heir prayers have been answered. The Georgia senior center that barred elderly citizens from saying a communal prayer before meals has changed its policy after inquiries from FoxNews.com and other news organizations. Residents at the Ed Young Senior Citizens Center in Port Wentworth, Ga., were told that instead of participating in a prayer, they should observe a moment of silence before their federally-funded meal. Officials from Senior Citizens Inc., which operates the center, had said the meals they provide to visitors are mostly covered with federal money -- so saying a communal prayer before chowing down violated the First Amendment separation of church and state. “We can’t scoff at their rules,” Tim Rutherford, Senior Citizens Inc.’s vice president, told the Associated Press. “It’s part of the operational guidelines.” Rutherford, who did not respond to messages seeking comment on Monday, had said his company provides meals like baked chicken, steak tips and salads for roughly $6 a plate. Seniors who eat the meals pay 55 cents apiece, he said, with federal money footing the rest of the bill. He said the moment of silence was introduced at the center to protect that funding. He insisted anyone at the center could worship whomever and however they please, but the decision to have a moment of silence was more than Port Wentworth Mayor Glenn “Pig” Jones could stomach. “This country means a lot to me, but the part that I don’t respect is it telling me I cannot pray over my meal,” Jones said. “I can’t accept and look them 65- and 70-year-olds in the eyes and tell them they cannot pray and bless their meals.” Jones had hoped to meet on Tuesday with the city’s attorney and officials from senior center to settle the controversy. But on May 10th 2010 late in the day, officials

from the senior center announced a policy reversal. “Senior Citizens, Inc. has always prided itself on the services it has been able to provide the seniors of the low country,” it said in a statement. “Part of that service is an adherence to Federal and State regulations that have made funding possible so more seniors can be served. “Over our years of service, we have been instructed, as recently as two weeks ago, by the state regulatory agency that verbal prayer was not allowed at any senior center. We are so pleased to say that we have been contacted a few minutes ago by the new Director of Aging clarifying the regulation and reversing the position of new verbal prayer. “As an organization, we feel that spirituality is an important and necessary part of a full life and we are thankful that this interpretation of the regulation makes prayer possible in all of its forms.” Casey Arnett, director of the senior center, said the seniors who visit the center are no strangers to standing up for what they believe. “They’re not going to let people tell them their rights about religion,” she said. “They feel like they need to stand for theirs.” Eric Johnson, a former state senator now running for governor, visited the center Monday and said a blessing outside just before lunch to roughly 50 elderly citizens. “I told them they’re not fighting this alone,” Johnson, a Republican, told FoxNews. com. “To heck with the federal government -- we can’t stop people from free practice of their faith.”

‘HAVE TO MEET IN SECRET’ & ‘TALK IN WHISPERS’

creenwriter and author Andrew Klavan said that in Hollywood, “If you’re a conservative, especially a religious person, people have to meet in secret. They talk in whispers. It’s a very disturbing kind of culture.” Klavan, in an exclusive interview with CNSNews.com, explained that he and fellow conservatives in Hollywood are battling the liberal status quo by creating entertainment that reflects the values held by the majority of Americans. And things are changing for the better, he said, pointing to the best-picture Oscar nomination for the Christian-themed film “The Blind Side” and Sandra Bullock’s win as best actress in the movie. There is a political/social shift occurring in Hollywood, Klavan told CNSNews.com, adding, “I think we’re changing it. It’s not something that’s happening passively. It’s something that’s happening because people are really making noise.” “I have nothing against atheists or left-wingers making movies,” Klavan said. “I think everybody should be able to make movies. I simply think this kind of lock-step conformity that has become the default position of American intellectuals has to go. It’s bad for the arts. It’s bad for our intellectual conversation.” The Hollywood culture, Klavan said, has made it difficult for conservatives to be successful and promote their own brand of entertainment product. “There’s a culture in Hollywood where you are a left-winger; you can speak very openly – even in business meetings,” Klavan said. “If you’re a conservative, especially a religious person, people have to meet in secret. They talk in whispers. It’s a very disturbing kind of culture.” Klavan also mentioned the experience of Academy Award-winning actor Denzel Washington’s experience in making the movie, “The Book of Eli,” which is about a post-apocalyptic world where the hero’s mission is to protect the last remaining Bible.

Author, screenwriter and commentator Andrew Klavan spoke with CNSNews.com about conservatives coming out of the closet in Hollywood to create entertainment that reflects traditional American values.

and directors do not like to make the films regardless of their potential for success. Klavan said in his own career he has tried to “change the rules” by creating compelling books and films that feature characters who share the same beliefs and values of most Americans. Two of his crime novels, “True Crime” and “Don’t Say a Word” were made into films starring Clint Eastwood and Michael Douglas, respectively. His screenplays include “Shock to the System” starring Michael Caine, and “One Missed Call.” And now his series of books for young adults, “The Homelanders,” has been optioned by Summit Entertainment, maker of the “Twilight” film series and the film that won the 2010 Oscar for best picture, “The Hurt Locker.” The hero of the series, teenager Charlie West, is a Christian and an American patriot with a black belt in karate whose adventures include fighting Islamic extremists and trying to clear his name after he’s charged with murder. Klavan was in Washington, D.C., on Monday, to speak at a conference about intellectual property rights as it pertains to artists whose work is stolen online. But the real threat, as Klavan sees it, is the Democrats who are in control in the White House and Congress.

“I think it’s a really very sinister and bad development,” Klavan said when asked about current events in the nation’s capital. “I don’t think the people involved are necessarily sin“When Denzel Washington recently made a film called ‘The Book of Eli’ – and Washington ister and bad, but I think they are misguided.” is a Christian and he made a film about a “They believe in a philosophy that has post-apocalyptic world in which he’s fighting already been shown to be destructive and to save the Bible, fighting to save the last not to work,” Klavan said. “They are people copy of the Bible – the studio kept coming to who don’t understand the basic values of him and saying, ‘Could you cut out some of our country, the basic values of a bottom-up the references to the Bible? According to Madison, if the original intent of the General Welfare Clause were ever expanded, then Congress would begin an unbridled intrusion into areas that were deliberately designed by the Constitution to be under the control of the state and local governments.

Congress’ limitations under the Enumerated Powers Doctrine. In fact, this doctrine was so well understood that in America’s first several decades, presidents had only four cabinet level departments:

The Secretary of State, The Secretary of War, The Secretary of the Treasury, and the Attorney General (occasionally there was also a separate Secretary of the Navy, but many presidents often placed him under the Secretary of War). Today, however, there are almost four times as many cabinet level positions, including a Secretary of Agriculture, Labor, Commerce, Housing, Education, Transportation, Energy, and many others. Each of those areas was also very important two centuries ago, but because the Constitution had placed these areas under the jurisdiction of state governments, there was no federal presence involved in them. Concerning the second point (the Bill of Rights), the Founding Fathers – dedicated students of history, government, and human nature that they were – knew that

the federal government would invariably try to step beyond its enumerated powers; they therefore added the Ninth and Tenth Amendments to the Constitution, directly stipulating that all areas not specifically listed in the Constitution were to remain under the jurisdiction of the states and local governments, which thus included areas such as education, criminal justice, energy, agriculture, and many others. As Thomas Jefferson affirmed: "I consider the foundation of the Constitution as laid on this ground: that “all powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states or to the people” [the Tenth Amendment]. . . . To take a single step beyond the boundaries thus specially drawn around the powers of Congress is to take possession of a boundless field of power, no longer susceptible of any definition." James Madison agreed:

"I declare it as my opinion that [if] the power of Congress be established in the latitude contended for, it would subvert the very foundations . . . of the limited government established by the people of America."

"

Rep. John Shadegg (AZ) Every session since John has been in Congress, he has introduced “The Enumerated Powers Act” which would require “that all bills introduced in the U. S. Congress include a statement setting forth the specific constitutional authority under which the law is being enacted.”

As Shadegg explains, “The Enumerated Powers Act will help slow the flood of unconstitutional legislation and force Congress to reexamine the proper role of the federal government.” Not surprisingly, leaders of Congress have not allowed this bill to move forward, nevertheless, what a refreshing idea that Congress should provide constitutional authority for the actions it takes and the bills it passes! Rep. Mike Conaway (TX) Federal law establishes September 17 (the day the Constitution was signed in 1787) as Constitution Day, requiring that on that day every school receiving federal funding spend time studying the Constitution. Despite the law, a recent survey found that the majority of high school students had never heard of Constitution Day, and only ten percent could recall any such school celebration the prior year. However, Congressman Conaway believed that not just school students but also Members of Congress and their staff should also study the Constitution on that day, so he introduced a congressional resolution to that effect. When the a committee chairman heard the resolution, he told Mike, “That’s the stupidest idea I’ve ever heard!” – an attitude far too common among many in Congress.

PRINCIPLES OF PROSPERITY IT ALL TAKES MONEY

W

hile many people have opinions about how much money is enough for a Christian, I wonder just how many have searched the Scripture to see the amount of money God expects His children to have. John Avanzini

I must confess that when I researched the financial requirements, I was astounded! I had to immediately admit that I didn’t have enough money to do all the things God requires of me. Let’s look at just two things God requires every believer to do. Notice that each of these things takes money. GOD REQUIRES YOU TO HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO BE TRULY JOYFUL WHEN YOU TITHE. Tithing is not always joyful, especially when every cent counts and there are needs on every hand. In spite of their needs, there are many Christians who tithe faithfully. However, when money is in short supply, it’s really hard to be joyful about it. Let’s go to the Scripture and see what God says our attitude should be when we tithe. Deuteronomy 26 is completely dedicated to the proper way of bringing the tithe to God. I recommend that you read the whole chapter at your earliest convenience. However, to save time, let’s look at only a portion of it. And thou shalt rejoice in every good thing which the Lord thy God hath given unto thine house.…When thou hast made an end of tithing all the tithes of thine increase... (Deut. 26:11-12) God says we must be in an attitude of rejoicing when we tithe. Think about it a moment. Just how much money will you have to earn to be really joyful each time your tithe? I cannot personally answer that question for you. You will have to determine for yourself. There is an amount of money that would make tithing more than an act of obedience, into a truly joyful act of worship. But wait! Don’t go away yet, for God requires you to have money for several other things. Lets take a look at one more….

by John Avanzini

GOD REQUIRES YOU TO HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO BE ABLE TO ADEQUATELY DO YOUR PART TO SEND THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE WORLD. I am sure all Christians know God requires more of them than just tithing. Malachi tells us that we have robbed God if we do not give offerings over and above our tithes. Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. (Mal. 3:8) Just take a moment and think of the many offerings God requires of you. Surely He wants you to give to missions, traveling ministers, as well as Christian radio and television networks. Those who are taught the Word of God should help their teachers by paying them.(Gal. 6:6 TLB) Go...TEACH all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. (Matt. 28:19-20) Everyone knows that going into all the world to preach the gospel to every living soul is a very expensive business. However, this requirement becomes even more expensive when you fully understand what Jesus added to the Great Commission in the book of Acts. Ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shalll be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost earth. (Acts 1:8) Notice carefully the word “both” in the above verse. It shows us how we are to witness in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the uttermost parts of the world. The word "both" adds to the Great Commission. “You shall be witnesses of me simultaneously in Jerusalem, and in Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost parts of the earth.” Now before you throw up your hands in utter hopelessness, let me point out that God hasn't left you powerless and alone to meet this great expense. Look once again at the first verse. ...Ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you...[then] ye shall be witnesses....(Acts 1:8) The power Jesus promises after the Holy Ghost comes upon you is enabling power (dunamis).

IT ALL TAKES MONEY

I cannot answer that for you, but you and God can. God meant for His children to have an abundance. So let’s look at the verse again as I His covenant of provision may seem expand the paraphrase for you. impossible to obtain, until you read You shall receive the ability after the about God’s promise to supply. Holy Ghost has come upon you, and ...Thou shalt remember the Lord you will be able to witness of me thy God: for it is He that giveth thee simultaneously in Jerusalem, and in Judea, and in Samaria, and to the power to get wealth that He may establish His covenant which He uttermost parts of the earth. sware unto thy fathers, as it is this How much money will be enough day. SENSELESS BEAUTY

S

enseless Beauty is a Christian/Hardcore/Metal band from Clear Lake, Iowa. They have been together going on 5 years now. They branched from a praise and worship team at their local church, where they got together on the side in a small business office. The first year they settled in with a few shows here and there, when they realized they wanted to try to take things more seriously and ramp things up. Fast forward to where they are now; about to release a second full length album and continue to tour much of the USA playing shows, festivals, benefits etc. The band has always run on putting everything in God’s hands to see if they should do this or that, and over the past few years it seems like the doors continue to open as new opportunities arise everyday. Their music of course is not for everyone, but for those who like the “Harder” styles of music. “Truthfully we are underfire all the time from other fellow Christians for the style of music we play, but what they need to understand is we’re trying to be a positive light to people of that genre and lifestyle, we have an open door to witness to these people whom have been shut out by so many people” says guitarist Phil Biermann. “We have prayed and spoke with many people over thoughts of suicide, depression, anger, etc. and even if its only one person a week its worth every penny, every second we spend doing this.” They also always make sure to give a short message or guitarist Wil Cooper will give his testimony. The band is releasing their second full length album called “Surviving.” June, 19th at 7PM at Bash on the Farm in Garner Iowa. It will also be for sale on their myspace, CD Baby, iTunes, Rhapsody, Amazon.

You can also find their previous Full Length album “Thoughts of Wolves.” “We go all out on our Bash on the Farm shows every year, last year Phil smashed a guitar and we’re trying to always out do the last years shows, but this year it will defenetly be a show not to miss.” says vocalist Shven Biermann. SERGEANT JENNA RAE LEE by Kevin Mertens Edited by Freedom Publications

Sergeant Jenna Rea Lee administers medical aid to a young boy in Iraq, while he's held in place by one of his realtives. Jenna especially enjoyed working with the children in Iraq during her tour of duty.

ERGEANT JENNA RAE LEE, was born in Mankato and spent her early grade school years in Delavan. Her father, Todd, is a teacher in the Blue Earth Area Elementary School and her mother, Denise, from Albert Lea, is an LPN who works at Parker Oaks in Winnebago. Jenna’s Grandparents are Roy and Barb Springborg. Jenna is a 2005 high school graduate from Blue Earth Area Jenna waited almost a year before joining the Army in the spring of 2006. “Joining the Army was something I was always interested in,” notes Lee. “Part of the decision was getting my college education paid for.’ Explains Lee, “What I wasn’t prepared for was the sleep deprivations, the constant going, and everybody being on edge.” She traveled to Fort Jackson, S.C., for her 12 weeks of basic training. She found the physical part of the training less demanding than the mental aspect. “I had to run cross country and lettered in junior high and continued to run on my own. That helped me a lot.” With basic training complete, it was now on to Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas for AIT (advanced Individual Training). AIT started with 500 students Lee was one of the 170 who graduated. The academics were though and they had just six weeks to complete their civilian EMT course. Once finished with that they began work on the combat side of being an EMT. Part of the training involved combat scenarios and situations. This included treating burns, shrapnel wounds, arterial bleeding, and airway problems. It also included giving IVs in the dark. So, one training scenario might involve locating and treating the casualty’s whole a drill sergeant screamed at you, Jenna says. Dressed in your full gear, you would then have to remove the 180-pound mannequin from the dangerous situation. These are not your ordinary mannequins, she relates. They are high tech expensive mannequins that the instructions can check to see how well you performed. It was then on to Fort Campbell, Ky., Where she was assigned to the C526 2nd Brigade. Following seven more months of training, Jenna deployed to Baghdad on Oct. 12, 2007, as part of the 101st Airborne Division, as a Medic. While some of her male colleagues didn’t approve of a woman being in combat situation, they became very protective of her and would tell her, “If I have to serve with a female, I’m glad it’s with you.” Going out on patrol was part of the daily life in Iraq. As the only female in the platoon, Jenna was partnered with 32 infantry guys. They would go out in their four truck convoys made up of armored Hum Vees. At times, they would be on a dismounted

patrol outside of the truck. This would give Lee the chance to interact with the Iraqi people and provide basic medical care, such as treating and stitching open wounds. Lee especially enjoyed the Iraqi children, teaching them to count and giving them candy. The kids were very affectionate and wanted to hug, but Lee points out that hugging was discouraged as you had to stay attentive and alert to everything going on around you. As for the most dangerous situations her patrol faced, Jenna would just say that they came under combat situations and were hit once by an IED (Improvised Explosive Device). While serving in Iraq Lee, became friends with Corporal Jessica Ann Ellis who was also a medic, though not in the same platoon, they shared the same living quarters. Ellis was a good friend and colleague, a running partner, someone to laugh with, to cry with, and to learn with. On Mother’s Day, 2008, the vehicle that Corporal Ellis was in was hit with an EFP (Explosively Formed Projectile). In the blink of an eye Jenna’s “battle buddy” was gone. Only days before her friend’s tragic death, Jenna had been with Jessica as Jessica ordered flowers for her mom for Mother’s Day. This year Jenna made sure that Jessica’s mother had flowers for Mother’s Day and her intentions are that Jessica’s mother will have flowers every Mother’s Day. “Life goes on” is a saying you often hear when something bad happens. In the military, where there are assignments that must be carried out and duties that must be fulfilled, that saying rings very true. “You don’t get a chance to mourn,” cements Lee, “You have to carry on with your job.” Now, almost a year and half after the loss of her friend and fellow soldier, Lee is learning that life truly does go on. Jenna gave birth to a baby boy on September 11th and is married to Sergeant Jeremiah Lee. The baby’s name is Jaxson Jeremiah Jae Lee. The name Jae is in honor of Jenna’s fallen friend Jessica Ann Ellis. Upon her discharge next June, Jenna is interested in getting a teaching degree and coaching high school sports. There is no doubt that the events which she has experienced have had profound effect on her life. “I appreciate my family more and realize how lucky I am to live in this country. I learned to value life more, to turn to my faith.” Jenna requests prayers for her husband, Jeremiah, who was deployed to Afghanistan on May 18, 2010.

get distracted.

The real problem for Obama and those who would help him in his promised fundamental transformation of America is that all this technology and information has let the average citizen determine the truth for himself or herself. It’s what gave rise to the Tea Party movement and community organizers of the right. Ah, there’s the rub. In this administration, freedom of speech, press or information is a distraction and a threat. That’s why they sought to impose the doctrine of “net neutrality” on the Internet. In the name of opening up broadband to all, it’s designed to suppress the voices of those who have competed in the marketplace of ideas and won. In his speech regarding the value of getting a good education, Obama quoted the third president. “What Jefferson recognized,” he said, “is that in the long run their improbable experiment — called America — wouldn’t work if its citizens were uninformed.” Being informed depends on information and the free flow thereof, with no one, especially not the government, being the

final arbiter of truth. That’s for the individual to decide. That’s why in words inscribed in a frieze below the dome of his memorial in Washington, D.C., Jefferson said: “I have sworn upon the altar of God eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man.” So have we, both defenders and beneficiaries of a free press and free media in all its forms, old and new. Which is why we celebrate, not condemn, talk radio, 24-hour cable news, Twitter, iPods and iPads, and oppose attempts to shackle the Internet or any other way information is exchanged, discussed and debated. They’re not threats to democracy, but its very lifeblood.

5 MOBILE APPS TO MAKE RUNNING A BUSINESS EASIER ON THE GO

rom processing credit card transactions to providing WiFi Internet access, your cell phone can be a lifeline for running a business outside the office For most small businesses, conducting business on the go is the norm. A slew of mobile applications can make life a little bit easier, whether a small business owner wants to process credit card charges or capture receipts for expensing. Here’s a look at some of the mobile apps for business owners that are a click away. wCharge Credit Card Terminal Brought to you by Transaction Wireless, wCharge Credit Card Terminal is a mobile application that enables remote processing of Visa (V), MasterCard (MA), American Express (AXP) and Discover credit card payments. That means credit card transactions can be processed from a mobile phone. The application claims to offer a secure way of accepting credit cards on the go. The transaction records are stored in your PayPal profile online. The app costs $4.99 to $8.99 a month depending on where you buy it, and you’ll need a mobile phone and a business/merchant PayPal account for it to work. wMWifiRouter Your cell phone gets Internet access on the go, but your laptop requires a separate

mobile card, which means an additional cost. wMWifiRouter changes all that with its mobile app that turns smartphones into an Internet hotspot. The app can enable your smartphone to provide Internet access to multiple devices at the same time and works even when the device is suspended. Your smartphone will have to have Windows Mobile in order for the app to work. The app costs $19.99 for one consumer license. Zoho Mobile Whether it’s email, spread sheets or document creation, Zoho has an app for your mobile phone. Zoho Mobile apps, which start at as low as $8, work on the Apple (AAPL) iPhone, Google’s (GOOG) Android, Research in Motion’s (RIMM) Blackberry, Windows Mobile and Nokia (NOK). The company, known for its suite of online applications, also offers an app that lets you enter in forms on the go. Sprite Backup For many small business owners, much if not all of their business is conducted on a mobile phone. If that phone gets lost or stolen it can be disastrous to a small business. Sprite Backup gives users peace of mind with its app that backs up all your mobile contacts, SMS, applications and settings, to name a few. The app lets you back up the data to a PC, FTP site and storage cards. The app, which works with Windows Mobile, costs $29.95. Shoeboxed iPhone App Any small business owner who has to keep a running tab of receipts and expenses knows how cumbersome that can be. Shoeboxed’s free iPhone app makes the process less painful. The app lets you take pictures of receipts and add notes. The data is extracted to your iPhone where you can submit expenses right there or do it later online.

EVIDENCE FOR CREATION A tremendous pyramid of evidence for design and recent creation is available for detailed study. Romans 1:20 states: “For the invisible things of him from the creation are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead: so that they are without excuse.”

FOSSILS DO NOT PROVE EVOLUTION

F

ossils. The very name brings to mind images of untold ages past...dinosaurs roaming ancient swamps...slow but steady progression as simple sea life was transformed into today’s complex variety. Is this an accurate reconstruction of the past or is a worldwide flood the correct explanation of the fossil record? Fossils are the preserved evidence of past life. They are found in every part of the world, including the tops of the highest mountains. They may be as simple as a seashell which has left a permanent impression in sandstone or as grandiose as a giant plesiosaur whose bones have turned to rock after rapid burial. The fossils themselves tell us neither their age nor how they became encased in the rock layers. Rather, they must be interpreted within some view of earth history. Many people have been led to believe that the existence of fossils proves that millions of years have passed. In reality, fossils can form quite rapidly. Heat and pressure from rapid burial can accelerate the fossilization process. Geologic conditions following a worldwide flood would have exceeded anything imaginable today and must have led to the rapid fossilization of the plants and animals on a massive scale. Fossilization can happen rapidly under the right conditions, but it is a rare event today. Yet there are mass burial sites throughout the world that are tightly packed with millions of fossils. Apparently, billions of organisms were washed together by the mass destruction of the worldwide flood, completely buried, and rapidly fossilized. These massive and extensive fossil graveyards would be the predictable result of a worldwide flood, but would hardly fit the slow accumulation model which continues to be taught as the primary explanation of the fossil record. Something dramatically different must have happened in the past to have caused the wide

by: Bruce Malone

spread fossilization which we find all over our planet. Noah’s flood would have been this event. Geologists and paleontologists operating from a Christian worldview acknowledge the possibility that a worldwide catastrophe buried unimaginable amounts of plants and animals. This was the disaster documented in the first book of the Bible. It lasted at least one year and had reverberations which lasted for centuries. Sea creatures would have been buried first (the salinity and temperature of the oceans would have changed during the catastrophe, wiping out massive numbers of these sea creatures). Even after the flood, plant and animal extinction would have been common as many types of creatures failed to adapt to dramatically changing conditions. Although any order of burial in a flood would be possible, the general tendency would be for sea life to be buried in the lower rock layers and land animals to be buried in different rock layers corresponding to their ecological niche. This tendency is generally found. Creation geologists (and there are many of them) believe that the majority of the geologic record is a result of geologic activity during and subsequent to the year-long worldwide flood. This flood would have been an incredible complex event. Geologist and paleontologists operating from an evolutionary world view acknowledge local catastrophes, but do not allow consideration of a worldwide flood. This would wipe out the “slow change over eons of time” interpretation of the fossils which is needed to continue believing in evolution. Only one interpretation of the evidence can be correct and only one interpretation of the evidence agrees with what the Bible claims is the history of our planet.
