SINOPSYS
Dr. W is a delirious doctor who’s always searching for the truth of the natural facts of life. He hosts a general knowledge TV show and on each episode he will explain things in his own funny, ironical and sarcastic way. Dr. W is really stubborn, he is not afraid of anything and will do what ever it takes to get to bottom of things.

THE CONCEPT
The aim of this project is to create the character named ´Dr Woody´, who is able to present a wide range of subjects, no matter how hard, painful or complicate it might seem. Dr Woody (Dr W ) will give the audience a straight and concise answer to everyday subjects of interest, including addressing how a cut heals, how evolution works and how to prevent illness. He might even explain the importance of boiled water , the difference between sexes or why and how people grow old and die. Dr. W. is all, cruel and sweet, he is a doctor, a clown and a magician. He will use any means possible and impossible to explain himself and to address any problem that life has on offer.

Dr. W’s animated series is a project based on the special features of the main character, his extreme physical appearance and behaviors, that leave the door open to

a wide range of approaches on the script and directing decisions on each episode, that will use different techniques (2D animation, cut-out) to expand Dr. W’s explanations. The concept applied to the art, script and also the execution of the animation will be focusing on “extremes”. The concept is characterised and represented by our doctor, whose face and red hair resembles a classic circus clown, who is extremely thin, powerful, scary and also funny, showing his acid humour and his fearless attitude just towards everything. However, he does not appear flawless and sometimes he will even become the affected being that the episode refers to: a headache, the flue etc.
Dr. W. will perform in an empty space where he summons the objects or animations he needs to proceed; for example he might simply draw directly on a board and the drawings will come to life or he might perform something riskier and more spectacular, like time travel. He might even act directly on his “assistant”, who is the sound engineer of the show. Dr W might call him up front in one of the episodes to explain how and why people sweat, and many other things. He will be wearing a Tshirt that will say “tester” (that’s Dr. W’s idea, of course).One of the specialities of Dr. W’s show is that the camera will play a key role throughout the development of the series. He. might interact with the camera as if it was the viewer´s eyes. At
times he will talk to whoever is behind the camera, like the director, the cameraman etc.. Dr. W. might also bring a mosquito or a Neanderthal to the set, that will chase everyone around at the end of the episode. Here the camera will show us how they run around, from the the low perspective of the floor where the camera had been dropped.The animation will underline this extreme concept: the timing will be fast and jumpy with an emphasis on pose to pose animation and going from the almost still figure of Dr. W. to a full motion action. Dr. W. will be talking to the screen very theatrically, perhaps with sudden pauses in order to let the message sink and resuming his speech with a burst of dynamic speed.

Dr. W: His Name is Woody Bonepecker. Nobody knows where he comes from or
has any information about his age and his powers. His abilities will unfold throughout each individual episode. He is direct and cruel, not on purpose, but he just acts like he feels, almost like a child playing. His hilarious personality and mysterious powers are an explosive combination that will be exposed when it comes to explain the different subjects in his show. When he starts to act on a subject matter, anything can happen.
THE CHAR ACTERS

P e p : He’s Dr. W’s assistant, he gets involved in almost every explanation and very often gets the nasty part of it. Never the less, Dr. W has a genuine admiration for him and he always treats him like a hero, a fierce explorer of the unknown!

Technical team: The technical team of the show, the sound assistant, the camera operator and the director are characters that appear constantly in several episodes. They also become the victims of Dr. W’s explanations, when they get out of control.

Audience: Live audience is also a very important character because, even if we don’t see them all the time, their reactions which we can hear will set the tone to the Dr. W’s show, and will emphasize the emotions, leading the viewer to a more complex experience of the episodes.

Clash of Titans: the healing. The defense armies of the human body confront the external evil forces of bacteria in a merciless battle. The aerobic adventure: the sweat. Dr. W will make his assistant, Pep, to sweat like a pig in order to explain how the body’s cooling system Works. The Relative Guest: the time. Dr. Einstein is invited to Dr. W’s show, to help him with the time travel. But this two old friends rather be singing than explaining things. T h e h i s t o r y o f t h i n g s : t h e R u n n i n g Wa t e r. Starting on a faucet, Dr.W takes us to a journey through the pipes of the city to spread us his entusiasm about running water. Pep, his assistant, won´t emerged unscathed from this adventure. Meet the Chaaampion: the yawn Live from the Arena Box, Dr.W and Professor Schopenhauer broadcast the exciting fight of Vittorio, “Swinging Mandibule” Oldwald, undefeated champion spreading yawns. C a u g h t b y t h e l a w : M u r p h y ’s L a w. General Murphy explains to the audience the basic facts of his law, while a rugged Dr. W is trying to reach the set dodging all the obstacles that suddenly appear on his way. T h e r o a s t e d c o n s e q u e n c e : t h e G l o b a l Wa r m i n g By the hand of a hapless polar penguin and a rotisserie chicken, Dr. W will teach everyone why and how to take care of the planet. The sandwich standoff: the Goose Bumps. Pep will face Flufy, an irritated dog who wants to steal his sandwich. Dr W takes the opportunity to explain what causes us goose bumps: cold, fear other strong emotions. B e a f r a i d , b e v e r y a f r a i d : t h e f e a r. As a Halloween special, Dr. W and an adorable monster disturb fearful and phobic Pep.

A matter of adaptation: the evolution. When Dr. W explains the evolution of the species, a malfunc-
tion in his time machine brings a caveman from the past that cause large disasters on the set. Ouch!: The pain Riding in his own nerve impulse, Dr W travels to his brain to explain why the pain is only in our minds. T h e D a r k I n t e r v i e w : t h e h e r e a f t e r. In a talk show with prestige guests as The Death, The Soul and Mr. Skeptical, Dr. W tries to unravel the mysteries of The Afterlife. The Histor y of Things: the communications. Dr.W reviews the history of communications from writing to satellite communications, embedded inside a matrix style digital universe. Getting the point: the injections Dr.W wants to demonstrate how injections work with the help of Pep, but he is not willing to be sinked. M e e t M r. I n v i s i b l e : A t o m a n d m a t t e r. Invisible Man and a ham help Dr. W to explain the invisible world of atoms around us, with high doses of magic and lots of imagination. Maximum Speed: the movement. A special guest, Dummy, is the tester for Dr.W’s Acceleration Machine. But he will suffer an unfortunately accident that will bring Pep to take the tester place once again. Growing Statements: The hair and nails. An extensive research of Dr. W reveals how hard it is the life of hair and nails.

Dr. W and Pep get on a trip to space. Going through paper satalites and plastic solar systems, Pep will suffer the side effects of weightlessness. S t a r ’s z o o : T h e H o r o s c o p e . Through the different horoscopes, Dr. W will help us better understand the real personality of our hero of science: Pep. The Heavy Sleeper: the dreams. Among hypnosis techniques, dreams that came true and horrible nightmares, Pep will travel to the world of dreams thanks to Dr. W. L u c k y Pe p : t h e s u p e r s t i t i o n s . Thanks to all kinds of items to scare away the bad luck, Pep avoids the worst things, until Dr W gets rid of its charms. Autopilot Factor y : the automatic processes. Dr W travels to the brain’s factory who is responsible of the job that we do without thinking. One day as a worker will be enough to loosen the chain of production. Th e h i s t o r y o f T h i n g s : T h e e l e c t r i c i t y . From where does it comes the energy we use every day? Dr. W explains this and tells us why is important not to waste it. Th e c r y s t a l b a l l : t h e d e s t i n y . Thanks to a gloomy fotune-teller, Dr. W and Pep will inquire into their destinations. Ca s t i n g W : t h e s e n s e s. Dr. W organizes a casting to find the integrants of the Five Senses band. Applicants are so untalented that a veteran rock’n roll band get to take the vacancy place. To d i e l a u g h i n g : t h e l a ugh. “Little teardrop”, a depressed clown tries to make the audience laugh with his jokes without any results. Fortunately, Dr. W, with his hilarious way of explaining things, comes to help him out.
