How can a healthy menu proposed by grade 6 learners impact our community?

About the learning journey: In this project, our grade 6 learners applied the knowledge acquired of the main structures and roles of the nervous, muscular, and skeletal systems to propose a healthy menu to the community in Escola Concept São Paulo. They also learned the importance of vitamins and minerals for the human body and the consequences of deficiencies and overconsumption. Before proposing their final choices to the whole community, grade 6 received a visit from the nutritionist Amanda, from Sapore, who listened to their choices and provided them with some constructive feedback regarding the vitamins and minerals in their foods and the feasibility of having the recipes made in the school kitchen. As a connection to the Metacognition lessons, where they have been investigating different possibilities for the future, they also came up with some creative and innovative possibilities for their types of food in the future. They were also provided with some insights into what the availability of food will look like in the future, and how the current food system impacts the environment. They could, then, use their imagination and creativity to propose some solutions to their healthy choices of food to create a menu for our community but also brainstorm the future possibilities given our current challenges.

Neste projeto, nossos alunos do 6º ano aplicaram os conhecimentos adquiridos sobre as principais estruturas e funções dos sistemas nervoso, muscular e esquelético para propor um cardápio saudável à comunidade da Escola Concept São Paulo. Aprenderam também a importância das vitaminas e minerais para o corpo humano e as consequências das deficiências e do consumo excessivo. Antes de propor suas escolhas finais para toda a comunidade, o 6º ano recebeu a nutricionista Amanda, do Sapore, que ouviu suas escolhas e deu alguns feedbacks construtivos sobre as vitaminas e minerais de seus alimentos e a viabilidade de fazer as receitas no cozinha da escola. Em ligação com as aulas de Metacognição, onde têm investigado diferentes possibilidades sobre o futuro, também surgiram algumas possibilidades criativas e inovadoras para os tipos de alimentos no futuro. Eles também receberam algumas ideias sobre como será a disponibilidade de alimentos no futuro e como o sistema alimentar atual impacta o meio ambiente. Eles puderam, então, usar a sua imaginação e criatividade

para propor algumas soluções para as suas escolhas alimentares saudáveis, a fim de criar um menu para a nossa comunidade, mas também debater as possibilidades futuras, dados os nossos desafios atuais.
