FACUNDO GARAY Buenos Aires based photographer Facundo Garay has been shooting professionally for about a year and a half. Image and Sound Designer graduated from Universidad de Buenos Aires. He worked a lot of years as a camera assistant, cinematographer and videoclip director. Loves the work of David Lynch, Michel Gondry, Quentin Tarantino, Orson Welles and Woody Allen. JOSHUA CABEZAS Joshua Cabezas was born in Germany and is based in Puerto Rico. His work is mainly photography, but often includes other media such as painting, drawing, illustration/typography, collage and installation. He has been part of various exhibitions and participated in international photography contests. He also works as a freelance fashion photographer and creative director. KAT + DUCK Kat + Duck is an enigma wrapped in Polaroid film and gaffers tape. Born out of a gypsy mix of San Francisco, New York and Europe, Kat + Duck travel through a myriad of counter cultures and psyches to produce striking fashion photography. No wonder magazines and designers alike are drawn to their work. MICHELLE MICHEO Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Miche’s interest in “fashion” started during her childhood. Her father had a textile shop, so she fell in love with color, pattern and texture from a very early age. As a stylist, she loves to play with clothes and doesn’t worry about trends or labels. Her photographs are very personal and improvised. She is strongly influenced by her mother’s free spirit and fascinated by old aged pictures. RAOUF Belgium born photographer Raouf Marzouki started his career in the fashion industry with 15 years as a make up artist when his strong sense of composition and sharp eye for detail were quickly recognized as he was urged to undertake photography. After only a basic mechanical instruction, his flair for drama and sophistication quickly made him much sought after by prominent international publications. FAIRY TALE

T
he Fairy Tale Series is an ongoing series of performances/photographs that started in 2008.
“Fairy Tales are the first stories we hear, and though they are meant to enchant and entertain, they also offer us a mean of addressing physiological and behavior problems. In every performance - which are typically long, progressive narratives - the actions of the performers typically me and a family member - are very much directed by the musical score, or at least the audience perceives a variety of moods, tensions or dialogues depending on the feeling communicated by the sound. As with all my performances, a camera is set up in front of the stage that takes a photograph every 5 seconds. In the end, all that will remain of the performance are the photographs (some 700 per performance). In each performance the endeavor has been to distill the action to the basic components of the primary message behind each tale.�

Agustina Woodgate (Buenos Aires, Argentina - 1981) investigates how we naturally and unnaturally compose our rituals, stories, traditions, and narratives through the materials and places around us. Occasionally creating illogical scenarios that appear in an otherwise realistic or even “normal� setting and using whatever material suits her purpose, she constructs surreal exteriors in interior spaces and vice versa, exploring the relation between everyday objects and places and the overarching narratives that condition our unnatural relationship to the natural world. Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, she now makes her home in Miami, FL.

“I was born on February 25, 1991 in a city called Kaunas in Lithuania. I lived in another small town called Kedainiai, which is a really cute, beautiful and peaceful place to live in. I’m looking forward to go back there as often as I can. I should mention that I grew up in a wonderful family with two brothers and one sister. I studied subjects like Math, Chemistry and Physics, but I was always interested in art because I thought it was the best way to relax and escape from all the daily things. A few years ago, I started to take pictures and I didn’t stop. When I turned 18, I started modeling and I realized how lucky I am that I can see all those shootings and other useful and interesting stuff. Most of all, I prefer to take portraits. I’m using my Nikon digital camera and I’m also using a polaroid camera which is so much fun to use. I’m obsessed with black and white pictures. I really enjoy fashion pictures, but I prefer to see more natural beauty, less make up, more expression...” - Rasa Zukauskaite

TESLA BOY has been described as “the best thing to come from Russia since vodka”. The band was formed in late 2008 and with only a promotional CD under their belt, they headlined the 3 major music festivals in Russia (Afisha, Stereo Leto and MIGZ). The band’s debut album was launched on May 31, 2010. Their sound is reminiscent to that of synth-pop / new wave bands from the 80s, but they mix it with an incredible modernistic style that makes TESLA BOY a treat for retro and contemporary music enthusiasts alike. Anton, Dima and Poko have an interesting fashion sense and it is for that reason that TESLA BOY has not only appeared in international music magazines, but in fashion publications such as Citizen K, L’Officiel, InStyle and Harper’s Bazaar as well. For this issue of SOME Magazine, the boys not only answered a couple of questions, but most importantly, took some time off their busy schedule to share with us a more “intimate” side of themselves (from childhood memories to personal pictures and behind-the-scenes documentation).
