Tel Aviv Israel but Saturday night is pure electro. This month Shop Carousel is a unique shop that sells furniture and items designed especially for kids. For décor inspiration for the little ones, or a few easy-to-takehome accessories, this is the spot (27 Rothschild Boulevard, tel: 03 560 3750). See When the TMarket festival started a few years ago it was a small underground venture. Now it has become a huge bazaar dedicated entirely to the world’s most versatile piece of clothing, the T-shirt. Dozens of local designers sell cool and original T-shirts for around ILS100, while great music and lots of beer make this in to a lively event. This year the festival runs from 3–5 April (Barzilay Club, 13 Harechev Street). Go April is the perfect time of the year to take a walk down the Tel Aviv boardwalk. It’s not too hot, you’re guaranteed beautiful sunsets, and there are

plenty of restaurants in the area to sit down and sip delicious sundowners. Escape Holon is just 20 minutes from Tel Aviv by taxi or bus. It is home to many exquisite museums, such as the brand new Design Museum designed by the worldfamous Ron Arad, the Children’s Museum, the Comics Museum and the Science Museum. Head here for a day of culture and you may not feel the need to visit another museum all year! (holon.muni.il). No way! Dizengoff Street, the longest in Tel Aviv, is so popular thanks to its shops and cafés that during the 1980s it was even graced with its own slang verb “lehizdangef” meaning to amble or wander. Exclusive Le Bistrot D’Alain (16 Valle Menendez, Los Cristianos, tel: 922 752 336) Run by successful French restaurateur Alain Mills, this romantic restaurant offers diners a taste of France. Dishes such as duck confit and lamb chaldron with mushrooms are just some of the stars on the menu.

After Dark Low Key Ben’s Bar (St Eugenio Alto, Adeje, tel: 922 713 314) If you want a venue where the children get as much entertainment as you do, this is the perfect place for all. Late & Lively

Shenanigans (The Patch, Playa de Las Americas) Some of the island’s top acts feature at this lively bar, with a happy “hour” from 7pm–10pm. This month Shop If you like a store that has everything under one roof, El Corte Ingles is the place for you. Getting there requires an hour-long bus ride from Los Cristianos, but it is worth it to enjoy seven floors of quality goods (tel: 922 849 400). See From 23 April, towns such as Vilaflor and Icod de los Vinos celebrate the Fiesta del Santo Hermano Pedro, the patron saint of Tenerife. Also on this month, Whitney Houston sings live in Santa Cruz on the 30th at the Recinto Autoridad Portuaria de Santa Cruz de Tenerife. No way! Tenerife may just be a small island off the coast of North Africa, but it’s attracted some bigname musicians to its shores. Lido Paradise (14km Salonica–Mihaniona Road, tel: 2310 471 021) Billed as the best dance club in Thessaloniki, Paradise hosts super parties and special events with live acts from Wednesday–Sunday. In the summer the terrace doesn’t close until after the gorgeous sunrise. This month Shop Modiano Market is the city’s biggest food market, and is heaving with fresh, local produce. Open air dining and nearby flower shops bring more colour and hubbub to this already buzzing area (between Aristotelous, Ermou, Vasileos Irakleiou, and Komninon Streets). See The Museum of Byzantine Culture is home to an impressive collection of historic art and icons. Exhibits are well-lit giving this museum the awesome glow of a giant treasure trove (2 Stratou Avenue, tel: 2310 838 597). No way! A glass of café frappé – invented in Thessaloniki and made with instant coffee, sugar, water and ice – is often as strong as four espresso shots.
