NYSSA BALLOON SAFARIS - SERENGETI

In a momentous development for Tanzania’s tourism sector, Nyssa Balloon Safaris, the world’s largest balloon company, has launched operations in the iconic Serengeti National Park. This marks a significant milestone for the region, with scheduled, non-scheduled, and charter flights now available at Seronera, Togoro, Ndutu, and Kogatende. Nyssa Balloon Safaris parent company, Uluer Group, boasts a formidable presence in three countries (Sri Lanka, Türkiye and Tanzania) and brings a wealth of experience to the Tanzanian market. With a commendable 18-year track record, their entry promises to make a substantial impact on the local tourism industry. The group’s well-established international standing is expected to enhance the safari experience for visitors to Tanzania. Nyssa Balloon Safari gears up to expand its operations to Tarangire and Ruaha, promising even more breathtaking experiences in Tanzania’s natural wonders. This exciting development not only cements Nyssa’s status as a global industry leader but also brings a new dimension to the already spectacular offerings of the Serengeti National Park.

FOUR SEASONS AND ALBWARDY INVESTMENTS

Four Seasons, the world’s leading luxury hospitality company, and global investment firm Albwardy Investment have partnered to open a luxury resort in Zanzibar. Set along the white sand beaches and blue waters of Pongwe, Four Seasons Resort Zanzibar will create a distinct resort experience for guests looking to explore this unique destination, or for those who wish to complement the adventure of a safari with the relaxation of an island retreat. The resort, designed by eco.id, will consist of 60 private villas with breathtaking ocean views, emphasizing the island’s natural beauty and cultural heritage. Culinary excellence will be a highlight, featuring five unique dining outlets. The resort will also prioritize environmental conservation through a dedicated Discovery Centre. With its lush tropical setting and proximity to Tanzania, the Four Seasons Resort Zanzibar promises an unforgettable retreat, seamlessly blending luxury and respect for the natural environment.

MOUNT KILIMANJARO - THE UNSUNG HEROINE

Enormous efforts have been put into marketing Tanzania’s tourism to the world and indeed, it is paying off with millions of tourists flocking to the country, with 2023 recording the highest number of tourists to visit Tanzania. The migration of people naturally changes the landscape of a place, and with Mt Kilimanjaro being the highest mountain in Africa and the desire to conquer it irresistible, many tourists make the attempt to climb it, which comes with littering, from water and food consumed to maintain the energy to summit it. Ms Magreth Ndoro, an environmental activist and freelance tour guide, has for more than a decade been at the forefront of protecting the Mt Kilimanjaro environment and Mikumi National Park has seen the effort first hand as the first woman to join the team of environment cleaners in Kilimanjaro more than a decade ago. Her love for tourism was greatly influenced by her father, who was a tour guide and the founder of the trails going to Ndoro Waterfalls.

TANZANIA WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

The Tanzania Wildlife Management Authority (TAWA) has received a total of 125 tourists at the World Heritage Park of Kilwa Ruins on the island and Songo Tower. The recent visits of tourists to the various attraction sites in the country is due to President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s initiative-‘The Royal Tour’ that aims at promoting the tourism sector as well as increasing the country’s GDP through tourism. In quick analysis, the authority noted that the tourists were mainly from England, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Ecuador, France, Germany, Italy, Korea, Luxembourg, Russia, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, and the United States. The tourists were carried by the Le Champlain ship of the Hebridean Sky Company from France bringing them to the oldest reserve in the world for tourism activities.

After Christmas, Easter is the most important holiday in most countries and Tanzania is no exception. This is one of the oldest Christian holidays. The occasion marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. Outside of Christian communities, the Easter holiday is a very joyful occasion for many who celebrate with their loved ones, sharing and cherishing special moments with the ones closest to their heart.

The Easter holiday, during the Holy week, begins on Holy Thursday, followed by Good Friday, Easter Sunday, and Easter Monday. Since easter is a national holiday, many businesses are closed on these days and everyone enjoys Easter vacation.

For those looking for ways to enjoy Easter 2018, you’ve come to the right place, whether you want a budget family holiday or simply some fun ideas for how to celebrate at home.

WAYS TO CELEBRATE:

• Light candles.

• Dress up in special Easter outfits to go to church for prayer and worship.

• Decorate your home with beautiful lilies.

• Gather some small gifts (see below for ideas) and surprise your kids with Easter baskets.

• Cook a special meal for your loved ones. Lamb is a common Easter holiday food as are hot cross buns.

• Hold or participate in an Easter egg hunt or an egg-painting competition.

• Have a bonfire on the evening before Easter as they do in Europe.

GIFT IDEAS FOR KIDS:

Easter is a wonderful time to give gifts to the kids in wrapped Easter baskets. For young girls, pretty earrings or bracelets or coloured egg-shaped accent lights can be good gift options. If your son or daughter is a connoisseur of crafts, you can present him or

her with a window painting kit. The kit should contain easy-to-clean brushes and easy-toremove paint. A set of clays that could be baked in the oven can also keep the creative child totally engrossed for hours in making a beautiful pot for Easter flowers. A set of spiralling musical airplanes to hang over the crib can be a wonderful Easter gift for babies. For toddlers, jigsaw puzzles, blocks, bubbles, and stuffed animals are all great Easter gift ideas. P.S. – Hide the kids’ baskets and have them search for them for an extra-fun surprise!

GIFT IDEAS FOR ADULTS:

You may want to celebrate Easter by giving gifts to your spouse, fiancé, boyfriend or girlfriend, friends, co-workers, or neighbours. Chocolates and baked goods are very popular, as are varieties of tea, coffee, and wine. Some people may appreciate flowers, a new book, jewellery, clothing, accessories such as a scarf or handbag. You can also give away tickets to an upcoming show, concert or special event. Even adults may enjoy searching for baskets on Easter!

Tanzania’s year-round temperate climate and wide range of hotels and resorts means you don’t have to go far to enjoy some time in the sun. This is particularly good news for families, making an Easter holiday much more affordable. Here are some hotels and restaurants for those looking to get away over the break.

Government of Zanzibar, which rules the country to this day.

BAWE ISLAND

Bawe Island has some of excellent snorkeling spots. Around a 30-minute boat ride and slightly more expensive than the boat to Prison Island, it is much less visited. In 1870, the island was used to anchor the first telegraph cables to Zanzibar linking it with Aden, South Africa and the Seychelles. A further line was run across to Stone Town, into the old Extelcoms building, now the Zanzibar Serena Inn. If complete isolation and privacy is what you are after, then Bawe Tropical Island is the perfect place to stay. There are 15 private cottages scattered along the beach front, all with breathtaking panormaic views of the ocean, and all tastefully decorated in soft colours to enhance the relaxed pace of life. The beach is excellent at low tide, with unusual stone formations, and there is some

good snorkelling to be had on the island’s reef.

PRISON ISLAND

Prison Island, also known as Changuu Island is one of the most popular destinations for day trips from Stone Town. Just a short boat ride away, the island offers excellent snorkeling, a nature trail, small beach and the unusual attraction of a sanctuary for giant tortoises. Despite its name, the closest the island has come to actually being used as a prison was by its first owner, a wealthy Arab who sent unruly slaves there for discipline. In 2006, many of the islands old buildings were restored, and Changuu Private Island Paradise was opened, offering 15 deluxe cottages all on the seafront, affording maximum seclusion and privacy. There are also 12 standard rooms in the old quarantine area, with fantastic views back across to Stone Town. If swimming and snorkelling in the crystal blue waters gets too much, have a paddle in the freshwater swimming pool, or hit the ball around on the floodlit tennis court. Mathews’ restaurant offers excellent seafood lunches, and 4 course dinners, all overlooking the restored prison ruins.

CHUMBE ISLAND

Six kilometres south of Stone Town, surrounded by pristine coral reef, Chumbe Island Coral Park is one of the world’s most successful eco-tourism projects. In 1994 the reef surrounding Chumbe Island was named Tanzania’s first Marine National Park. The island itself, covered with lush mangrove forest, is a designated forest reserve. Visitors can come for the day to snorkel over the incredible coral reef, home to over 370 species of fish, turtles and dolphins. To experience Chumbe Island properly, stay the night in one of the seven ‘ecobandas’ that nestle in the forest. Each is a two-storey, private cottage constructed out of local materials and decorated with shells, driftwood and colourful local fabrics. Water and energy on Chumbe are self-sustaining and provided by nature - the roofs of the bandas and the education centre have been designed to catch and filter rainwater, which is then heated by solar power.

The magic of Zanzibar Island is that it is a multi-faceted destination, offering a unique blend of idyllic beaches, intriguing history, cultural diversity, tasty cuisine, exotic spices, and rich flora and fauna.

Sauti Za Busara Winds Up With A Bang

Festival marks 21th Amazing edition

The 21st edition of the globallyacclaimed Sauti za Busara festival reached an electrifying climax on Sunday night, following three days of pulsating performances that ignited the Old Fort and the vibrant Stone Town neighbourhood!

Audiences from across East Africa and many corners of the world united in joy to celebrate an eclectic and vibrant programme of live music from the African Continent and diaspora. Sauti za Busara has proved yet again there exists a huge market for more diverse musical expressions from across the Continent

March 2024 |

The 2024 edition of the festival, themed “Moving Diversity,” marked a significant milestone. In his remarks, festival director Journey Ramadhan, overseeing his first festival in this role, highlighted the event’s journey from its humble beginnings and the various challenges the organization has successfully navigated.

“But even when we were faced with the most difficult of situations where we almost had no option but to close, our team never gave up,” he said.

And with the assurance of corefunding from Fumba Town by CPS covering costs to run its office, the festival has already announced the next edition will take place between 14 - 16 February 2025.

Over three nights close to 30 groups thrilled audiences who had travelled from across the world to catch a glimpse of Africa’s musical diversity and talents.

Beyond the captivating performances, the festival offered panel discussions and networking opportunities via their Movers & Shakers platform, providing space for artists and music enthusiasts to exchange ideas and collaborate. These sessions covered various aspects of the music industry,

The rich line-up included Tanzanian artists such as Sholo mwamba, Wakazi, Siti & the Band, Taminu, Mubba, Africulture, Lwendo Africa, Warriors from the East, and Brain Boy.

from production and marketing to preserving cultural identity and fostering sustainability.

Two panel discussions, in particular, sparked meaningful dialogue among cultural stakeholders. The first addressed the advancement of East African music while preserving identity, featuring esteemed panellists such as Isack Abeneko, Yusuf Mahmoud, and Kema Oyih. The second panel explored the path to a financially independent and sustainable arts sector in East Africa, engaging experts like Chiara Guidetti, Gregory Mwendwa and Girum Meznur. Female artists gave some of the strongest performances, including Asia Madani from Sudan, Nasibo from Zimbabwe, Naxx Bitota from DRC, Atse Tewodros Project from Ethiopia and Italy and Zily from Mayotte having their voices heard on two stages inside the Old Fort.

However, the bill was topped

by Made Kuti & The Movement, from Nigeria. Made Kuti’s early years were spent growing up in The New Afrika Shrine. The son of Femi and grandson of Fela, he was surrounded by music early on and took to the alto sax at five years old. As a child, he toured the world with his father’s Positive Force band, playing legendary venues like Glastonbury and the Hollywood Bowl at the age of eight.

On April 4th, 2021, he made history, headlining his first show at the Shrine with his newly-formed band, The Movement. Together, they performed songs such as Made’s single, ‘Free Your Mind,’ and his stellar rendition of Fela’s ‘Trouble Sleep Yanga Go Wake Am’.

He has since been nominated for a Grammy for ‘Best Global Music Album’ at the 2022 Grammy Awards for his album, Legacy+

The George and Dragon has a very strong expat following with various activities every night to keep anyone entertained. Trinity is another place with a true Tanzanian feel with live bands and good vibe, located near

Oyster Bay. Every Saturday and Sunday get entertained at Mediterraneo with a live band, beach party and bikini party. There are more than five casinos in Dar Es Salaam such as, Sea Cliff Casino, Princess Casino, New Africa in the city where you can have fun, gambling experience and be entertained. DAR ES SALAAM FISH MARKET

an ancient East African trade port. The town has been influenced by Arabs and Indians to create a uniquely Swahili culture. On a day trip to Bagamoyo, you can visit ancient ruins, old churches and mosques and tour one of Tanzania's only colleges of arts known as Chuo Cha Sanaa. If you don't have your own transportation, you can get to Bagamoyo by local bus or by taking a day tour.

FISHING

Latham Island (Fungu Kisimkasi) is a small, uninhabited oceanic island. The island and its associated reefs stick out the Indian Ocean in the middle of nowhere, an insignificant pinhead in the Indian Ocean. This structure promotes currents, and provides haven for baitfish and their predators and is thus a great big game fishing destination. The Island lies 45 nautical miles East of Dar es Salaam so may be fished on a day

trip or more advisably on an overnighter, during which the adventurous angler can try for the mighty Broadbill Swordfish. There are several charter operators out of Dar, and they generally fish at Latham itself or for shorter and cheaper outings, work the Zanzibar Channel. Both fisheries can provide exciting sport -offering chances at Black and Striped Marlin, Sailfish, Wahoo, Yellowfin and Dogtooth Tuna, King Mackerel, Dorado, Giant Trevally, bottom fish such as grouper and Red Snapper, and many more. It is an angler's paradise. If you have a day off in the dark and love to hear a big reel scream, don't hesitate to take off into the blue water, it's right at your feet.

A lively city with unique urban culture

Mbeya is a town located in south-west Tanzania. The thriving town of Mbeya sprawls in the Loleza Peak (2656m) shadow. It is located between the mountain range of Mbeya in the north and the Poroto mountains in the South East. The scenic lush, mountainous area is a farming region for tea, coffee, walking and cocoa and bananas. The cool climate walking and botanical excursions and scenic viewing of the hills are an undiscovered ‘travel in Tanzania’ destination. Mbeya is a magnificent landscape of Tanzania, a creation of relief forms from African Rift Valley volcanic eruptions, which lies towards the south-west of Dar-es-Salaam. These regions also possess rare birds and plant species, attractive scenery and a vibrant local culture. Mbeya offers a range of activities from safari’s, fishing and hiking mountains; there is fresh, pure and clear water in river catchments near the Poroto and Tukutu mountains. Natural flower gardens make great botanical excursions.

O OPPTTIINNG G FOR AN ENTREPRENEURSHIP

C CAARREEEER R

Why It Is the Best Long-Term Career Option

We have grown up believing that getting a job achieving one’s career, but tell you what entrepreneurship plays a much greater role than anything else! With entrepreneurship, you are rest assured to have a long-lasting career.

Let’s unravel together on the why entrepreneurship is thebest a long-term career!

1.It’s a Personal Management Thing

Sometimes, it is best to walk alone, rather than in a group, because having a group comes with misunderstandings, unbalanced teamwork and lack of solidarity, but as a single person, one is free to decide on his/her ideas, committing to one thing for the long run, working effectively to achieve the intended goal and carrying out management skills such as planning, delegation, problem solving and communication that will guide him/her into making his/her career a long term one.

2. It Is Limitless

There is no such thing as age

retirement. The good part, is you can start at an early age working as an entrepreneur and even at the age of eighty, you will still be kicking, compared to short term careers such as being employed, which gives you only a minimum time. Therefore, the pressure of whether you are getting old and will soon be out of the office that you’ve been working for about twenty years, can be removed by one single choice of being an invested entrepreneur.

3. It Adopts to the Change of the Environment

A self employed person has the benefits to move with the change of time, let’s say it’s a season of mangoes, you will then sell mangoes and if it’s the season of pineapples, you will then sell pineapples.

An entrepreneur has the advantage to deal with these changes according to his/her preferences compared to an employed person who has to stick to one thing only and has the risks of whether he/ she will be fired or get a salary decrease.

“study for an hour a day.

Double your learning and you will tripple your success”

An entrepreneur and an employed person both share one thingskills, at the end of the day, it is your choice to see where you fit in the most and walk towards that path.

THE ACT OF GENEROSITY IN BUSINESS

Why being generous is critical to your business success

Often, entrepreneurs are obsessed with accumulating material things -- more traffic, more customers, more money.

The most vocal and fiercest critics of capitalism, Karl Marx, shouldn’t be blamed. He was right when he called our obsessiveness for wealth and profit as “primitive accumulation.” Worse, our obsessiveness over wealth and profit is a never-ending game.

Here are three reasons why being generous is critical to your business success. Let’s get right to it.

Generosity Begets Contentment

Looking at it on the surface, the act of giving doesn’t make much sense. But when you critically dissect it from the inside, you’ll find out that being generous is not only about losing a sheer of your products. It’s not about being favorable to some folks and doing a disservice to your venture

either. It’s quite the opposite. If you give your physical product or a share of your profits to someone, you’re actually doing a personal good to both yourself and your beneficiary.

The More You Give, The More You Get

When you offer a freemium service to your potential premium subscriber, charge $0.00 for your drop-shipping business, or give out your 300page e-book for free to your new blog subscriber, you’re not losing a sale. You’re building a strong relationship with your prospective customer. You’re building a solid connection with your audience. The connection will help your buyer to not only get to know you better, but admire you and trust you. Whatever you sell, whatever you stand for, if you want to stand out and reap more

rewards, you have to give more.

Giving Doesn’t Just Build Your Business. It Changes Your World

When you give out something for free, you’re not only opening the gates of the word-of-mouth advertisement for your startup. In reality, you’re inspiring your audience. You’re building your community. You’re changing your world for the better. Give out some funds or books to a person or your local community. The items you give out will do much more than put a smile in the person’s face. It will directly contribute to improving their life. Sure, that will motivate them to give as well -- when they get their business ideas off the ground -- and the engine of giving back continues to recycle.
