ECIALIS

For this special offer programme, we have chosen two very charming and popular hotels in North Cyprus. Whilst both hotels offer excellent standards of accommodation and facilities, each has its own charm and appeal. One will suit those clients looking for the luxury and pampering that only a true 5 star establishment can provide, whilst the other will suit those looking for a more informal and homely feel that you can only find in a family-run hotel. Whatever your choice, we are sure that either one of these offers will tempt you. One attribute that both offers share is incredible value for money. Where, in this day and age can you spend a week in a 5 star hotel in the Mediterranean, including flights, transfers, and evening meals from just £329? North Cyprus…that’s where!!

Our experience means that we can offer you not only better service but also better prices. Whether you have travelled with us before, or this is your first holiday with Cyprus Paradise, you can be sure that your holiday is our priority.

THERE IS A SECRET ISLAND IN THE HEART OF THE MEDITERRANEAN… “…a hidden jewel in the Levant – with golden beaches, picturepostcard villages and brilliant weather”. That is how Northern Cyprus has been described in the UK press, and knowing the country like we do, it is understandable that the hardened ‘hacks’ of Fleet Street are inspired to such prose.

4

Even in this age of mass-tourism, Northern Cyprus remains virtually undiscovered and gloriously under-populated. Considered to be the most beautiful part of the island, the north receives less than one tenth of the visitors that swarm to the better known Cypriot resorts of Paphos, Limassol and Larnaca. The stunning horseshoe-shaped harbour in Kyrenia (pictured), is just one of the many unforgettable sights waiting to greet you in this unique holiday destination. The natural geography of Northern Cyprus is such that you can spend the morning by the sea, indulging your tan, enjoy lunch in a mountain-top taverna, taking in the spectacular views and then spend a leisurely afternoon exploring some of the most incredible historical and cultural sites to be found in the whole of the Mediterranean. Surprisingly, amongst all this serenity and natural beauty, Northern Cyprus has another, more lively side. The town of Kyrenia has over 300 restaurants and tavernas, serving a wide range of cuisine from traditional Mediterranean fare to gourmet international dishes. For the more adventurous, there is an excellent choice of activities, such as horse riding, paragliding, go-karting, quad-biking, jeep safaris, archery and a full range of water sports including PADI scuba diving, waterskiing and windsurďŹ ng. The wonderful thing is that in Northern Cyprus, these activities blend in with their surroundings rather than overwhelm them. The sheer beauty of the countryside, the natural friendliness of the people and the most pleasing climate in the Mediterranean combine to make Northern Cyprus a truly unique holiday experience, and one that will stay in your memory for many years to come.

NORTH CYPRUS It is impossible to describe here just what it is that makes all of the ingredients for a relaxed, Mediterranean holiday. Don’t take our word for it, go and see for yourself!

Essential Information SPECIAL OFFER FLIGHTS The special offer prices featured in this brochure are based on Wednesday and Sunday departures from London Stansted to Ercan International (North Cyprus). For Manchester departures please add £50 per person. All flights to North Cyprus include a courtesy stop en-route of approximately 45 minutes. You will not normally be required to disembark the aircraft. WHERE TO STAY Most of the accommodation featured in this brochure is situated in and around the picturesque harbour town of Kyrenia. We have tried to describe the location of each property as accurately as possible. Many hotels are set along the coast to the east or west of Kyrenia itself, or in the villages located in the foothills of the Five Finger Mountains, such as the renowned village of Bellapais, with its beautiful 13th century monastery. Whether you prefer a town-centre hotel, a hillside retreat or a beach-front property, we are sure to have something to suit. If you need advice then our friendly reservations team will be pleased to help. If you want to get out and about and explore, then car hire is advisable. Driving is on the left, as in the UK, so it is very easy to get around. ACCOMMODATION Cyprus Paradise Ratings With such a wide range of properties to choose from, it can be very difficult to select the best type of hotel to suit your needs. We feel that official ratings are unreliable and do not correspond with UK standards, so using our expert knowledge of each property and the feedback we get from our clients, we have given an overall rating to each property to give you an idea of what to expect – this is not just based on the standard of the accommodation, but also the facilities, location, service and other aspects which we believe are important for your enjoyment. are our own opinions and are provided as a guide to assist in your selection. If you want more information on any aspect of the accommodation please ask our knowledgeable staff who will do their best to provide you with more detailed information. We have tried to describe the facilities and accommodation offered by the hotels featured in this brochure as accurately as possible at the time of going to press (January 2012). Hotels in North Cyprus are normally privately owned and managed by friendly staff. shown in good faith and generally available. However, they may on occasion be unavailable due to maintenance, mechanical faults or weather conditions or because the small number of visitors in the resort does not justify their opening or operation. Cyprus Paradise is not responsible for this as these decisions are taken locally. Low season prices reflect the fact that some facilities and/

Beautiful natural scenery, unspoiled beaches, hospitable friendly people and a history that spans over 9,000 years… or services may not be available. During local or national holidays, certain facilities such as museums, sightseeing excursions and shopping may be limited. Such events are regrettably beyond our control. Some things may be different in North Cyprus than you might expect in the UK. Don’t be surprised if from time to time in all accommodation water and electricity supplies fluctuate and cupboard space is limited. You may find it difficult to find a clothes iron, so pack a travel iron. Many hotels provide a kettle but do not supply tea and coffee or may charge for it. Please note that room types are described using local terms. For example ‘bungalow’ may refer to accommodation on two floors. All our prices are based on 2 persons sharing twin or double-bedded accommodation, except where otherwise indicated. Single-room supplements are as shown. Half board indicates breakfast and one main meal per day (usually dinner). Breakfast is continental unless otherwise stated. Although accommodation units may be described as ‘twin’, they will be provided according to availability and may also refer to a ‘double’ room. If you have a specific preference for twin or double beds, or would prefer singlelevel accommodation, we will endeavour to meet these requirements but cannot guarantee it. It is vital that you inform us at the time of booking. SATELLITE TELEVISION Clients should be aware that satellite television services in northern Cyprus do not usually include any of the SKY channels. However most services do provide for at least 1 or 2 English-speaking channels. ELECTRICITY SUPPLY In most hotels, the electricity supply is identical to that in the UK. i.e. 220 / 240 volts with a standard UK three pin socket. Some lighting and air-conditioning sockets may be of the two pin variety, however, this is unusual. HOLIDAY DURATION We always refer to holiday duration in terms of ‘number of nights’ reserved at a holiday accommodation. On the last day of your holiday, you will probably have to vacate your room by midday but rooms for storing luggage and changing facilities will normally be provided. UNUSED SERVICES Kindly note that refunds are not available for services provided but not utilised. If travelling on a bed and breakfast or half board arrangement, you may find that you lose a meal calculated to take this into account and no refunds will be made in this respect. SELF-CATERING Self-catering varies tremendously throughout our resorts. Cooking facilities are limited and will not be what you would expect to find in your kitchen, but they are all adequate to rustle up a light meal for children or a snack.

BEACHES All beaches in North Cyprus are open to the public and are not the property of the hotel they are situated near. holidays, locals and guests of other hotels may use the facilities and services of the beach you are using. A charge will usually be made to all non-residents for use of sun beds, parasols etc. HISTORIC SITES AND MUSEUMS Many historic sites, particularly the Crusader castles, are rubble and dangerous precipices that have not been fenced adults, is a necessity, along with sensible shoes and a torch, if possible, when visiting castles or other historic sites. In the hot summer months, you are advised to wear a hat when visiting open-air sites and carry plenty of water with you at all times. Some museums and historic sites open only in the mornings. Please enquire with our Kyrenia office for up-todate information. HEALTH Visitors to North Cyprus do not require any medical treatments or inoculations prior to entry. However, it may be sensible to have typhoid and cholera vaccinations – we recommend you consult your doctor prior to departure. In addition, the Department of Health issue a booklet (T5) ‘Health Advice For Travellers’, which is available from the Department of Health itself.

STERLING AND TRAVELLERS CHEQUES British pounds sterling are accepted in most places in North Cyprus. Many prices in local restaurants and shops are shown in UK sterling as well as Turkish Lira. If this is not the case, most establishments will convert your bill into UK pounds sterling using the exchange rate quoted in that day’s newspaper. Change will almost always be given in TL. Sterling travellers cheques may be cashed at any of the numerous banks and bureaux de change found in both Kyrenia and Famagusta. Travellers cheques or cash in Euros, US dollars or other currencies are not as readily accepted. PASSPORTS AND VISAS All passengers must possess a full passport to travel to North Cyprus. Infants must have their own passport to travel overseas. If any member of your party, for example newlywed wives, changes their name between booking their holiday and the departure date, it is important to notify us immediately so that the ticket when produced is issued in the new name. It is essential that the initials and the name on the ticket match those on the passport, otherwise the passenger will not be permitted to travel and any applicable insurances will be invalid. If there is no time to amend the passport before departure, the Marriage Certificate should be carried in the passport. A visa is not required by British passport holders to travel to

North Cyprus. Non-British citizens should check their own position with regard to passports and visas with the London Representative of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on tel: 020 7631 1920. It is your responsibility to be in possession of a valid passport and any visa that may be necessary. BORDER CONTROLS Many of our flights utilise Larnaca airport, which is located in the south of the island. To access the resort towns of Kyrenia and Famagusta, it is necessary to pass through the ‘green line’ which divides the north and south of the island. This ‘dividing line’ is seen by the Turkish Cypriot authorities as a legitimate border between the two communities of Cyprus and usual border crossing controls will apply. You will be required to produce your passport for inspection at this crossing point and may also be subject to Customs and Excise inspection. Similarly, the same conditions will apply on your return journey. CUSTOMS & EXCISE ALLOWANCES Clients using our Larnaca flights should be aware that upon entering the Republic of Cyprus, normal EU duty free allowances will apply. As North Cyprus is not currently a member of the EU, cigarettes and alcohol purchased in the north cannot be imported into the Republic at the end of your stay. There is no ‘duty free’ allowance between the two sectors of Cyprus and anybody importing goods from the north could be liable to prosecution or an on-the-spot fine. However, there are no restrictions in place between the Republic of Cyprus and the UK. Cigarettes and alcohol purchased in the Republic can be imported into the UK without restriction. Clients using our Ercan (North Cyprus) flights are permitted the standard nonEU allowance when returning to the UK. TRANSFERS Hotel transfer times from Ercan International airport (North Cyprus) and from Larnaca are shown on the relevant hotel pages. Transfers to and from Larnaca may be subject to a change of transfer bus at the ‘green line’ separating the south and north of the island. FLIGHT DELAYS In the event of a flight being delayed, Cyprus Paradise will arrange for the following to be provided, whenever practical and subject to the airport being able to cater for this:– Over 4 hours, an appropriate meal; for delays of at least 8 hours extending beyond midnight, overnight accommodation will be provided wherever possible. However, this will depend on such factors as the expected length of the delay, local availability of accommodation, immigration rulings, etc. Where long flight delays result in lost holiday time, no refunds are given by hotels for unused accommodation, as rooms are held for delayed arrivals, not re-let. Similarly, airlines do not offer compensation for flight delays. It is in recognition of the above that holiday travel insurance policies normally offer monetary compensation for flight delays under certain circumstances. RETURN FLIGHTS Please come along to our ‘welcome meeting’, which is usually held in your hotel the day after you arrive in North Cyprus. You will find out useful information about your holiday and our representatives will also be able to check that the details which you have for your return flights are correct and inform you about your transfer arrangements.

Most of these changes will be minor and we will advise you or your travel agent of them at the earliest possible date.
