Tractor Trek Trivia Night is no trivial cause

Get your thinking caps on and head to the Orange City Bowling Club on Saturday, April 29 for a trivia night and official launch of this year’s Central West Charity Tractor Trek.

The annual Tractor Trek — which raises money for Little Wings, a volunteer air service that transports sick kids to medical appointments in the city — will this year head to Cowra in September, with the trivia night officially kicking off fundraising efforts for 2023.

“We gave a hundred thousand dollars last year to little wings. Of course, that’s the thing. it’s about supporting little wings,” Central West Charity Tractor Trek treasurer, Sue Moffatt said

“And Little Wings is about the Central West, it’s not just focused on one town and it’s why we’re called the Central West Charity Tractor Trek, people come from different areas and try to raise funds and sponsorship from different towns.

“The actual Trek is Cowra this year, but was Blayney last year and it’s been to Dubbo, Bathurst, Orange, all sorts of places.”

The Trivia Night at the Orange City Bowling Club will be a low-key affair, Sue said, the focus being on raising money for the work of Little Wings.

“It’s Saturday the 29th of April, 6.30pm to 7pm, bring your own nibbles and tickets are only $10 — you don’t have to pre-buy them, just turn up at the door,” Sue said.

Sue said there will be a maximum of eight people allowed per table, with prizes for the winners along with other raffles and games.

“We’ll have Little Wings representatives and they do a little talk and a bit of a spiel about who they’ve helped and the mayor of Cowra has been invited to attend,” she said.

The Central West Charity Tractor Trek is also currently running a raffle for a trailer load of wood and another trailer full of goodies will be raffled later in the year.

As well as raising funds for their chosen Charity, Sue said they are also keen to raise numbers on the Trek itself.

“The more tractors the better obviously,” he said. “It’s nice to have a few people at the launch, but it’s about having the tractors — it’s pointless otherwise. We had something like 15 last year and had a few breakdowns but in the past, we’ve had as many as 25. So if we can get another few tractors and drivers with them that’ll be excellent!”
