CRPR Awards & Recognition

2016 Green Park Award

On March 15, 2016 the PA Dept. of Conservation & Natural Resources (DCNR) announced that Millbrook Marsh Nature Center received their “2016 Green Park Award.” The selection was based upon an evaluation of green and sustainable practices, a commitment to environmental education, the diversity of park uses and their restoration of the environment. The 62-acre site, at 548 Puddintown Road in College Twp., includes a renovated 1850’s bank barn, the LEED-certified Spring Creek Education Building and a 50-acre wetland with an extensive boardwalk and trail network. The nature center was established as a regional facility through the cooperation of the Centre Region COG, Penn State University, ClearWater Conservancy and a coalition of community groups. Since it was established in 1997, the center has been operated by the Centre Region Parks & Recreation Authority. During 2015 the site hosted over 13,000 program visits.

PA Parks & recreation partners

Inspired by the belief that local parks and recreation improves the lives of all Pennsylvanians, the “Good for You, Good for All” campaign was developed to increase usage of parks and recreation facilities across the state, and to raise awareness and increase support. A full list of PA Parks is available at http://maps.dcnr.pa.gov/localparks/

Looking for state parks, forests, and outdoors programs in PA?

Check this out! For more than a century, visitors have used Pennsylvania’s parks and forests for the pursuit of passive recreation and enjoyment. To help people become better connected to the outdoors and to help them to grow their appreciation for the protection of our special places, the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) established the Get Outdoors PA program.
