The Committee for Free and Fair Elections in Cambodia (COMFREL), Cambodian Human Rights and Development Association (ADHOC) and the family of Mr. Hol Hun express deep sorrow for the death of Mrs. Real Sreymom, who was a wife, mother, and a COMFREL activist. She died last November 22nd, 2010 in a stampede accident at Diamond Bridge, Koh Pich Island, Phnom Penh, Cambodia, which caused the death of 353 people and several hundred injured. Mrs. Sreymom was born on October 13th, 1983, in Mukda commune, Romeas Hek district, Svay Reang province. She had been married since 2005 and had a 5 yearold daughter. Mrs. Sreymom worked as a COMFREL and ADHOC local activist since 2001. She had experience in election monitoring in the 2002, 2003, 2007, and 2008 elections. Mrs. Sreymom also intervened actively to handle problems in her village. COMFREL and ADHOC regrets the loss of Mrs. Real Sreymom as an active colleague and a brave woman in Cambodia who strongly participated in society to strengthen human rights and democracy. COMFREL would like to share our sincere condolences to the family of Mrs. Real Sreymom and prays that she may rest in peace. On this occasion, COMFREL and ADHOC is appealing to you, members of civil society, to make a donation so that we can funds to distribute to the family of Mrs. Real Sreymom to alleviate their misery and suffering. The funds from you, will be transfering to a guardian of Mrs. Real Sreymom’s 5 year-old daughter.
