Today, the Second Sunday concerts in the College Hill Corridor have grown from an attendance of 75 in the early days to seeing over 1,500 people gather in the landmark park for an evening of live music and celebration of community. From April through October in Washington Park expect a lively, diverse and family-friendly picnic community every second Sunday, from 6-8 p.m. Concerts feature local and regional music acts. Previous acts include Shawn Mullins, Jason Isbell, Carrie Rodriguez,Yacht Rock Schooner, the Rocketboys, the Grapevine, Bo Ponder, Floco Torres, Jubee and the Morning After and more. However, the live music isn’t the only feature drawing people to Second Sunday. Take a look around the audience as the sun sets and you will see a true snapshot of our community. Second Sunday—a free event— was designed so that all are welcome. The people who gather in the park each month represent every age, demographic and background. This is the place where you’re never too old or too young.Your wallet is not required. And someone always has a free spot on a blanket they’re willing to share. Second Sunday at Washington Park is a place where people come together and live music lives.

The tremendous success of the College Hill Corridor and its impact on community vibrancy and neighborhood revitalization is due in no small part to Second Sunday.
