Reunion Zero takes place from May 6-16 with events on all three campuses and throughout the city, with a special focus on downtown businesses that target young professionals. Each of the colleges worked with the College Hill Alliance to create a unique schedule combining school traditions, restaurant specials, concerts and networking mingles. Over 200 alumni and local business leaders are expected to participate in the events and 20 local businesses are offering specials in honor of graduation. There are over 20,000 college students who attend schools in Central Georgia. At Mercer, Middle Georgia and Wesleyan – traditional undergraduate universities located within MaconBibb –around 2,000 students are graduating from the Class of 2015. The goal of Reunion Zero is to directly connect these recent grads with local alumni, business leaders and community assets to make the case for Macon, post-graduation. Joshua Lovett is a program coordinator at the College Hill Alliance, who worked with the local colleges to create the concept for Reunion Zero as part of the Alliance’s talent retention strategy. “If we want to retain these students, we have to make them feel welcomed, connect them to social offerings and create jobs they need to make Macon their home,” he said. “Reunion Zero strengthens the connections between the Higher Ed and business communities helping to create a pipeline for talent retention in Macon-Bibb.” The full calendar of Reunion Zero events are below.
