Adult Flag Football Adult Flag Football Registration is going on now thru September 22nd! Adult Flag Football is open to both men and women, ages 18 and up. Father Daughter Dance at North Macon Park On Saturday, September 26th, North Macon Park will be hosting their 2nd Annual FatherDaughter Dance from 6-8pm. Families can register in person or by phone at 478-477-8526 by September 23rd. Registration is $5.00 per family and includes dance lessons and refreshments. College Ready & Resume Building Bloomfield Park “Accepted”– Are you getting ready to take the next step, but are a little overwhelmed with all of the paperwork? Bloomfield Park is here to help! Our staff will assist you in filling out college applications, financial aid paperwork, and search for scholarships. Give us a call at 478-781-6000 to schedule a free one-on-one session with one of our staff members. Rosa Jackson Resume Building– Looking for a job, but not quite sure how to build a resume? Let the staff at Rosa Jackson help you get a leg up on the competition by attending one of our free resume building sessions! Classes are Tuesday & Thursday, noon-2pm. After School Program Are you worried about where your kids are going to go after school? Does your child need extra help in a subject? Well, you are in luck! All of our recreation centers offer free afterschool programs that provide one-on-one homework help and tutoring, as well as a variety of other enrichment opportunities. Sign-up your child today for an afterschool program at the recreation center nearest you! Our center staff will make sure that your child completes and understands their homework assignments and is prepared for school the next day. In addition to one-on-one assistance and tutoring, educational games, art activities, and athletics are all an essential part of our afterschool programs. Page 2

New Programs Bloomfield Park An Honor to Hoop– This program is designed to help students reach their full potential both on and off the court. Boys ages 6-15 will work on keeping an honor roll average as well as perfecting their game. The free program meets Thursdays from 6:00-8:00pm. Ceramics– This free ceramics class is for men and women, of all skill levels, ages 50 and over. Walk or Jog for Life– Are you looking to set fitness goals? Maybe train for a 5K? Monday-Friday, 10:30-11:30am join the Bloomfield Park staff for an hour of walking and/or jogging to get on the path to better health. Athletic shoes, comfortable clothing, and a water bottle is recommended. East Macon Park Arts & Crafts– This free program is in conjunction with the East Macon Afterschool Program. Kids will participate in a wide range of make and take crafts on Friday afternoons from 4:00-6:00pm. Zumba– Not into running or weightlifting? Why not try Zumba! Get your heart rate up and burn calories while having fun in this up beat dance based class. Class is for men and women, ages 15 and up. This free and meets Tuesdays, 6-8pm. Childcare will be provided for children ages 6-14. Frank Johnson Beginner Basketball for Kids– Learn the rules and fundamentals of the game! This program is for children ages 6-8. Registration is $10 per child and runs thru September 5th. Practices will be held on Wednesdays, 6:00-7:30pm beginning September 10th. Rosa Jackson Saturday Morning Basketball Workout– Saturday mornings, 10:00am-noon, kids ages 6-18 can workout and train in preparation for basketball season with the Rosa Jackson coaching staff.

Computer Programs Memorial Park Intro to Computers– This new class will teach you computer basics including how to use the Microsoft Suite, as well as how to properly search the internet. Classes meet on Tuesdays from 6:30-7:30pm (17 & under), and Thursdays from 6:30-7:30 (Ages 18 & Up). Senior Center Intro to Computers for Seniors– This new class designed specially for the senior population and meets September 2nd, 10th, and 16th from 11:00-11:45am. During these sessions participants will learn computer basics including; computer functions, email, word processing, and how to navigate the internet. Each class will be done at the participants individual pace.

Young Adult, Teen, & Mentoring Programs Frank Johnson True Gospel Mentors– Join The True Gospel Christian Church mentoring program at the Frank Johnson Center on Wednesdays 6:30-7:30pm. For more info check out www.truegospelcc.com Rosa Jackson Rosa Jackson Mentoring Program– This mentoring program is facilitated by the staff a Rosa Jackson and is for children ages 5-18. Tuesdays & Thursdays, 6:30-7:45pm. To register for a class call 478-751-7036. North Macon Free Play Basketball– Open court for adults Monday-Friday 1:00-3:00pm & Fridays 6:008:00pm for teenagers. Judo– Tuesdays & Thursdays 6:00-7:00pm (youth) & 7:00-8:00pm (adults). $25 per month Tae Kwon Do for Kids– Mondays 6:00-7:00pm, ages 5-15 ($25 per month) Rosa Jackson Adult Free Play Basketball– Adults; Tuesdays & Thursdays 12:00-2:00pm. Youth; Monday & Wednesday 6:00-7:30pm. Rosa Jackson Stars– A fundamental ball handling performance group which performs at colligate halftime shows including; Mercer, Central Georgia Tech, and Middle Georgia College. Cultural Arts & Dance Bloomfield Craft Corner– Learn to build wreaths, center pieces, and other DIY crafts! Classes are held Tuesdays, 10:00am1:00pm. Cost is $10 per session, or $30 a month. Call 478-781-6000 to register. Tiny Tot Hour– Thursdays 11:00am1:00pm for children ages 3-5 East Macon Park Dance– Mondays & Wednesdays, 7:00-8:00pm. This free, interpretative and hip hop oriented dance class is for elementary and middle school aged girls. Frank Johnson Chicago Style Line Dance– Free adult line dancing, Mondays, 6:30-7:30pm Cooking for Kidz– Children, ages 13 and under, can learn the basics of cooking as well as kitchen safety and the benefits of healthy eating! Fridays 5:30-6:00pm. Ladies Night– Games, fitness, and open gym for ladies only on Thursdays, 6:30-7:30pm. North Macon A Squares– Square Dance– Wednesdays 6:30-7:30pm Baton Twirling– This class meets Fridays at 6:00pm, and is for elementary and middle school aged girls. Cost is $30 a month and includes supplies. Learn the basics and perform! For more info call 478-477-8506. Belly Dance– Mondays & Wednesdays 6:30-8:00pm. ($10 per class) Pares-N-Squares– Mondays 6:00-8:00pm (line dance) Peace Dance Group– This class introduces children, ages 6 & up to the foundational movements of dance. Classes meet Tuesdays, 6:00-7:30pm.

Senior Programs The Macon Bibb County Senior Center is located at 1283 Adams Street next to Mercer University and Tattnall Square Park. They offer a variety of programs and activities for the aging middle Georgia population. Programs vary from computer courses, arts & craft classes, wellness programs, community service ventures, and continuing education. Homeschool Programs North Macon Homeschool Co-Op– On Tuesdays, 9:00-11:00am North Macon Park offers a multi discipline class specially for homeschool students. This class covers subjects such as art, history, and science. For more information on this and other homeschool programs and workshops, call North Macon Park at 478-447-8526. Page 5


Sundown Screen Series Each 2nd & 4th Friday, April-September we will be showing free movies at dark in Luther Williams Stadium in Central City Park. Bring blankets & chairs to sit on the green, or take a seat in the stands. Outside food and drink is permitted, but the concessions will be available for purchase. In addition to movies in Luther Williams Stadium, we will also be showing a free movie on the 3 rd Friday of each month, April-September at various parks throughout Macon-Bibb County. September is the last month of the Sundown Screen Series, be sure not to miss, Jurassic Park, September 12th at Luther Williams, The Nutty Professor, September 19th at Bloomfield Park, and E.T. on September 26th at Luther Williams. Yappy Hour Thursday, September 18th is the last Yappy Hour of 2014! Join us from 5-8, for refreshments and music, provided by Robert Bobby Hall. Robert is a local musician, born and raised in middle Georgia. He is classically trained and also teaches guitar. Yappy Hour is a monthly event designed to increase awareness, attendance, and involvement at the Dog Park. The Macon Dog Park is located at the corner of Adams and Chestnut near Mercer University. Special Events Bloomfield Park Open House– On September 27th, Bloomfield Park will be holding an open house from 6:00-8:00pm. Come on by to check out the programs and workshops they offer as well as how you can get involved in your community! LH Williams Curious Kids– Bring your little scientists for some experimental fun! On Saturday, September 13th, 11:00am2:30pm join us for a day of science! This workshop is for children ages 5-12. Registration is $5.00 per child and includes all materials. To register call 478-447-2784. Memorial Feeding Change Pop-Up Market– Come on out to the Memorial Park Gym, Tuesday, September 16th, from 3:00-6:00pm for their 1st pop-up farmers market. Several farmers will be at the market selling local produce and goods. Sample unique fruits & veggies, and visit with some of the farm animals that will be on-site!

Table Games Bloomfield Park Spades Night– Join us on Wednesdays, 6:00-8:00pm for Spades Tournaments. This program is for adults only. Memorial Adult Bingo– Every Wednesday, 6:30-7:30. Come out for a free night of bingo and the chance to win prizes! Rosa Jackson Bingo Night– Every 1st and 3rd Thursday, 6:30-7:30pm. This event is free and open to all ages!

Family Outings Frank Johnson Community Play Day– On Friday’s between 11:00am-3:00pm the gym is reserved for 3-5 year olds and their families. Games, athletics, and arts & crafts, are planned for you and your little one. Family Fun Night– On Friday’s from 4:00-8:00pm, families are welcome to come out and participate in various activities and games as well as enjoy a movie beginning at 6:00pm. LH Williams Family Fun Night– On Friday, September 26th, 6:00-8:00pm enjoy a fun filled movie night with your family. For information regarding movie selection please call 478-447-2784. Rosa Jackson Fun Friday’s– Every 4th Friday of the month from 4:00-6:30 pm. All ages are welcome to come out and participate in various activities and games, as well as enjoy live music! Page 7

Adult Co-Ed Fall Softball Registration is going on now through September 13th for Adult Co-ed Softball at the Frank Johnson. Rec Center. This league is for men and women over the age of 18. Registration is $250 per team. For more information or to register please call 478-751-9274.

Fall Wellness Classes Below you will find our September wellness class schedule. Classes are free and open to all ages. In the event of rain we will have to cancel class due to their locations. For more information, please call Ellen Banas at 478-751-7694. Sunrise Yoga– Saturdays, 9:00-10:00am in Tattnall Square Park. This hour long class is for all level yogis and takes place near the pavilion. Comfortable clothing and a mat or towel are required. Yoga Lunch Express– Mondays, 12:15-1:00pm join us for Yoga on your lunch break. This will be a 45 minute class that will help you un-wind and refocus mid-day. Class will meet in Central City Park in the green space behind the train engine. Restrooms are available and a mat or towel, and comfortable clothing are necessary. Zumba in the Park– Wednesdays and Thursdays, 6:00-7:00pm join us in Tattnall Square Park for Zumba. This hour long class is sure to get your heart pumping. Athletic attire and shoes are required, a water bottle is suggested.
