Design, embraced as a personal philosophy, provides for a considered way of living. Imbuing beauty, grace and joy in the ordinary, a design-centric point-of-view can connect seemingly disparate aspects of the everyday. From the decoration of our homes and our appreciation for furnishings, art and books, to our choices in fashion, entertaining and travel…design has the power to realize a more integrated, elevated life experience. PDC’s Fall Market 2019 gathers today’s celebrated tastemakers who share how leading their lives…and careers…by a well-lived life creed, in an age of ever-diminishing refinement, enhances personal and professional success for both themselves and their clients. FALLEN FRUIT Launches Pacific Design Center Gallery Thursday October 3, 2019 5:00 PM - 10:00 PM Pacific Design Center Gallery’s inaugural exhibition titled SUPERSHOW, is a solo exhibition by Los Angeles based artists David Allen Burns and Austin Young (Fallen Fruit). SUPERSHOW opens Thursday, October 3 with a reception and is on view through February 23, 2020. VAGABONDISM Anna Fasshauer Blue Lobby | Pacific Design Center September 26 On view in the PDC Blue Lobby through June 2020 are recent sculptures by Berlin-based artist Anna Fasshauer in an exhibition entitled Vagabondism. Out of place in figurative and literal terms, the works, made from industrially produced aluminum beams sourced from El Paso function as “vagabonds” existing in time and dislocation. Using only her body and a tooling gun to bend and crush metal, Fasshauer’s rare working method, height and weight takes the cold, stiff, industrial material and renders it fluid and malleable, humanizing the works’ Franz West-like playful punk aesthetic. Fasshauer’s work has been exhibited in major institutions such as Barbican Center, London, the Petit Palais, Paris and the KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin. Anna Fasshauer received an M.A. at the Chelsea School of Art, London and she is represented by Nino Mier Gallery, Los Angeles.

For further information about Pacific Design Center Gallery and Blue Lobby programming, contact helen@helenvarola.com. SUPERSHOW explores participatory design practice, reflecting upon a broader, controversial global environmental movement involving food production. As food is inextricably bound to identity, small-scale self-sufficient organic farming is becoming a means for cultural rediscovery, invigorating the politics of both left and right and going far beyond community gardening.
