Overview of NATP (The National Association of Therapeutic Parents) The NATP was founded in 2017 by Sarah Naish, to provide support, training, and advice to all families of children with developmental trauma and neurodivergent children. The NATP has a core staff who are either supporting children themselves and therefore have a depth of understanding which is appreciated by the families they support, or they may have excellent skills in related areas Overview of Trauma Revolution Trauma Revolution the online section of Inspire Training Group, are one of the leading experts in Therapeutic Parenting and Trauma-informed practice. Trauma Revolutions draws on the experience of several professionals including Attachment specialists within the therapeutic community, adopters, and foster carers. The reallife experience of those working on the project is highly valued by the families who receive our help. Overview of The Haven Parenting and Wellbeing Centre. The Haven Parenting and Wellbeing Centre provide Parental Mental Health Services and Family Therapy specialising in Compassion Fatigue interventions nationwide. Their services cover Child to Parent Violence, Therapeutic Parent Coaching, and Family Therapy for children who struggle with anxiety and emotional regulation including ‘masking’. Within this package, members receive a discount for Corporate Wellbeing Services which supports professionals to develop resilience and prevent Compassion Fatigue from reoccurring.

What is Therapeutic Parenting? Therapeutic Parenting is a nurturing parenting style developed from consistent, empathic, insightful connected responses to a child’s distress and behaviours, allowing the child to begin to self-regulate and develop an understanding of their behaviours and ultimately form secure attachments and minimise the impact of childhood trauma. Therapeutic Parenting differs from ‘Traditional Parenting’ in that it does not use time out/any form of corporal punishment, shame the child, use reward charts, or expect the child to self-regulate or feel empathy and remorse. Therapeutic Parenting is effective for ALL children, not only those who have suffered trauma. It simply works more quickly with securely attached children. Please note: Therapeutic Parenting does NOT mean parents are practising psychological therapies on their child.
Why Parent This Way? Therapeutic Parenting helps create new pathways in the child’s brain to link cause and effect, reduce fear and shame, and help the child make sense of their world. Therapeutic Parenting uses empathy and connection to guide behaviours and help children understand where they came from. Therapeutic Parenting recognises that behaviour is communication, often based on fear. It also emphasises a need for parents to respond to the child’s emotional age, not their chronological age
