Several Project REACH members had an experience of a lifetime during spring break. They traveled to Ireland to participate in a course entitled, “Peat, Potatoes and Pubs: the Culture of Ireland.” Among the 42 Caz students on the trip were REACH members Salat Ali, Shakiya Booker, Carlos Garcia, Elliott Kelley, Melonie Madramootoo, Angela Martini, Gillian Riggall, Sonja Skalecki, and Brittany Whitehouse. Brittany said she learned about “how another culture lived outside of the United States. The people who live in Ireland are so kind and helpful.” Carlos agreed, “As soon as I landed in Ireland everyone was just friendly and helpful in anything I needed.”

When asked about her favorite day trip, Brittany responded, “My favorite day trip was when we went to see the Cliffs of Moher. I enjoyed this one because I’m afraid of heights and I climbed to the top. It made me feel free and like the world was in my hands.” Salat and Carlos also chose the Cliffs of Moher as their favorite day trip. Salat commented that the scenery was “breathtaking.”

Salat said the street signs surprised him. “They were located on the sides of the buildings, which made it difficult to spot. Over all, Ireland was amazing, and I learned something new every day. It is a place you can go and never get bored.” Cliffs of Moher
