Time flies, when you’re having fun, and this issue of Cass County INFO has been so much fun to design! A few years ago, when my husband worked in retail, and I did the morning news on Hoosier Country 103.7, I talked my mom into venturing out on Black Friday. It’s become an annual tradition — but we stay here in Logansport. With the help of American Express, the following day has become known as Small Business Saturday and the goal is to make it “the biggest day of the year for Small Business.” For the last couple of years, I’ve also chaired the Downtown Christmas Open House for Logan’s Landing and this year, I am so excited to report that we have 25 downtown businesses and organizations who will be participating! This is the 13th annual event, and it’s a wonderful opportunity to ring in the holiday season downtown. Twenty-four participating merchants will each be holding open houses from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 29, and Cass Area Transit will provide a shuttle service for shoppers. In addition, each of the participants will offer a drawing for a prize. To enter, you simply bring donations of non-perishable food or pet products to the Depot at Fourth and Melbourne and exchange them for tickets to win prizes from the participating merchants. We tell you the prize value, but it’s up to you to check and decide where you want to drop off your tickets. (And there are some really, really awesome prizes this year!) Another really great aspect of the event is that Logan’s Landing will be distributing Logan’s Landing Bucks for shoppers to spend with the participating merchants during the event. You get a discount, and Logan’s Landing reimburses the merchant for the value of the Logan’s Landing Bucks, so everyone wins. Be on the lookout for Santa’s Helpers on November 29 because they’ll be handing out more than $500! Now that the gift list is finished, I’ll get back to work on one of my other favorite holiday projects — posting the air dates for

Cass Solid Waste now accepting electronics The Cass County Solid Waste District is now accepting electronics, including television sets, five days a week. This will be by appointment only. As in our other programs, this service is for the residential sector in Cass County only, and appointments can be made by calling the office at 574-7329253. If the director is not in, leave a message. You can also leave a message on the district cell phone at

People often post photos of their missing pets on the CassCountyCalendar page on Facebook. We’re glad to be able to help by sharing the photos on our page and we always love it when their owners share they they’ve been reunited. Hope (far left) was one of the missing pets whose photo we shared last month. Her owner, Hillary Hartoin, writes “she was missing for five days, and posted on this site, and we recovered her a week ago yesterday, thanks to everyone‘s tips and searching, and phone calls. She is pictured here at home, along with her two buddies, and is doing well. She has gained her weight back, and is so happy to be home. Needless to say, she is “grounded”, and has a very sturdy leash and collar. She will being getting her microchip soon. A very big thanks to all of you members again, for your help in the way of tips, phone calls and anyone who looked for her. God Bless.”
