FIND SOMETHING TO DO IN CASS COUNTY THIS SUMMER!

“Preventive medicine is as much about setting priorities as it is about eating right and getting enough exercise.” Dr. Jeffrey VanCuren, an OB/GYN at Logansport Memorial, believes setting priorities for yourself is a form of preventive medicine--particularly when it comes to women’s healthcare. As a husband and the father of five daughters— triplets age 14, a Purdue freshman, and a five-year-old from China—he should know. “All that’s going on in the world can take its toll, physically and emotionally. Stress builds up; stress weakens the immune system and causes other health problems.” To minimize its impact, Dr. VanCuren suggests, “Work from the inside out. Put God and family first. Your family needs you and God is pretty capable of solving problems on His own.” Good advice from Dr. VanCuren, who is here to care.

Logansport City Council approves funding renovations of former Ivy Tech building BY MICHELLE LAIRD DIALS

Ivy Tech Community College opened the doors to its new Logansport campus in the Spring. In the fall, the city plans for a satellite campus of Trine University to do the same — in the space formerly occupied by Ivy Tech. The Logansport City Council has appropriated $60,000 for renovations to the building at 2815 E. Market and $20,500 to cover utility costs for the building for a period of 24 months. The money will come from the Eastgate Fund, which is where rent previously paid by Ivy Tech to the city for use of the facility was deposited. Trine University has agreed to a 3-year lease

of the facility after the initial incentive period SHQGLQJ VXIĂ€FLHQW FODVV VL]HV DQG HQUROOPHQW City and County employees, as well as Ivy Tech graduates, will be offered discounted tuition rates.
