Isn’t summer supposed to be the season when everyone relaxes? It hasn’t even begun yet, and I’m already worn out! Summer is a busy time for the Cass County CommunicaMichelle Laird DIALS tion Network because Editor/publisher it’s a busy time for Cass County! You’ll see us out and about photographing parades, festivals and other fun summer activities. You’ll also catch us volunteering at local events. It takes a lot of volunteers to make events like the Jazz Festival, Taste of Cass County and the Cass County 4-H Fair successful, so we try to help out when we can. If there’s an event you’d like to help with, give the sponsoring organization a call — I can almost guarantee that they’d love to have your help. Once I finish this issue, my attention will turn to getting ready for the Fair. We’ll have a booth in

one of the Merchants Buildings, and even though it’s usually one of the hottest weeks of the year, I always enjoy fair week. Before that, there’s the Fourth of July — which falls on a Wednesday this year, right in the middle of our next deadline for Cass County INFO. So I guess, as soon as I get this issue sent to press, I better start designing the issue we’ll be handing out at the fair! There are lots of other fun events as well — the Storybook Festival at Spencer Park, a new series of free concerts announced by the Cass County Arts Alliance, and of course, the Fourth of July parades and celebrations! The support of local businesses and organizations is what makes everything about Cass County Communication Network possible. On July 1, we’ll be celebrating our second anniversary and we have an amazing advertising promotion for businesses. When you advertise with Cass County Communication Network, you’re also helping us maintain a comprehensive database of local events and a community information website that are visited by people from all 50 states each year. Promoting our community June was a busy month for those promoting economic development efforts in Cass County.. On June 7, Ren “Bill” Yuan, from the Department of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Government of Zheijiang Province, visited Logansport. On June 12, the Logansport-Cass County Economic Development Foundation served as a sponsor for the Japan America Society of Indiana’s Annual Gala in Indianapolis. The week of June 10, Senator Randy Head, who is also the City Attorney, represented the City of Logansport as a delegate on Lieutenant Governor Becky Skillman’s trade mission to China. Head’s wife, Lisa Swaim, was also a member of the privately-funded trade mission. See more photos on the Cass County Online page on Facebook.

Clockwise from top right: Logansport had a cow when the Class of 2012 moved the steer from Mr. Happy Burger as their senior prank; Employees at A Raymond Tinnerman biked to work in honor of World Environmental Day; the Cass County Community Foundation’s 2012 scholarship recipients; Logansport celebrated Dan Couch Day at Mid-America Radio Group of Logansport to honor the Logansport native who wrote the #1 song “Somethin’‘Bout a Truck,” and Logansport dairyman Dave Forgey, holding the famed “Bottle of Milk,” gets a laugh from WRTV 6 reporters at the Indy 500.

Each month, we select photos for our “Caught on Camera” pages from those that our fans have posted on the Cass County Calendar and Cass County Online Facebook pages, or submitted online, as well as those that we’ve captured through our own lenses at various community events. 6 | Cass County INfo: | June 2012
