In 2007, Led Zeppelin reformed to play their first and only full set since they split up in 1980. Considered by many to be the greatest rock ‘n’ roll band in the world, the one night event saw over 20 million fans trying to get hold of just 20,000 tickets. The reviews from the show were incredible and it has never been seen on film, until now. The theatrical presentation will feature exclusive footage of band rehearsals and TV cuttings of the hype surrounding the event.

Burton’s first animated film for studio Disney as a director, Frankenweenie centres on the disastrous decision by little Victor Frankenstein to revive his dead dog Sparky using the power of science. When his home-sewn creation gets out, fellow students, teachers and the entire town soon have to deal with the fallout.

In 1962 London, two teenage girls, best friends since they were toddlers, are driven apart by a scandalous betrayal. Writer-director Sally Potter has crafted an intimate, riveting coming-of-age story - one made all the more powerful by a revelatory performance by Elle Fanning as the bright, anxious Ginger, increasingly affected by both the misery of her parents and the era’s all-too-real fears of nuclear destruction.

Daniel Craig returns in this 23rd official James Bond outing as the secret agent is torn between his dedication to the agency and his superior, M (Judi Dench). Sam Mendes directs from a script by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade, and John Logan. Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, and Albert Finney co-star.

When 35-year-old Jesse is invited to speak at the retirement dinner for his favourite professor, he’s glad to leave his uninspiring job and broken heart behind and escape New York for a few days. Jesse believes his best days are over, and once he’s on campus, college nostalgia hits him hard - although not as hard as the beautiful Zibby, a precocious theatre student.

At long last, Jack Kerouac’s groundbreaking novel about youth finding freedom, and themselves, has been turned into a film. This most American of books was adapted by Brazilian director Walter Salles and Puerto Rican screenwriter José Rivera, who brought us another unforgettable road movie, The Motorcycle Diaries. Theirs is a vision of American mythology as perhaps only an outsider can see it, a film as lyrical and liberated as the beloved classic that inspired it. On the Road is a portrait of a generation not afraid of breaking rules in their search for meaning. Toronto Film Festival

On an isolated stretch of land called the Bathtub, in the midst of the Mississippi Delta, six-year-old Hushpuppy and her father lead a fiercely independent existence, one seemingly built upon the flotsam and jetsam from a recently struck catastrophe… or perhaps one that is yet to come. First time actors Dwight Henry and Quvenzhané Wallis give powerhouse performances as father and daughter, two souls whose devotion to each other takes on mythic proportions. In this arresting work of fantastical realism, writer/director/composer Benh Zeitlin conjures a startling, triumphant vision of a childhood at the edge of the natural world. LA FILM FESTIVAL

Nicholas Barclay was 13 years old when he disappeared from his San Antonio home in 1994. Three years later he was found in southern Spain and returned to his overjoyed parents. Yet how could they not notice their son’s change of hair and eye colour, or the fact he now spoke with a pronounced French accent? Truth is definitely stranger than fiction in this highly original and compelling documentary. Edinburgh Film Festival

“The wittiest, most perceptive campus comedy in years.” Entertainment weekly

FROM FRI 5

“One of the best films of the year.” St. Louis Post-Dispatch

“Funny, dark and whimsical, this gloriously crafted stop-motion animation playfully turns the Frankenstein story on its bolted-on head.” Clare Stewart, BFI

“The wittiest, most perceptive campus comedy in years.” Entertainment weekly

FROM FRI 5

“One of the best films of the year.” St. Louis Post-Dispatch

“Funny, dark and whimsical, this gloriously crafted stop-motion animation playfully turns the Frankenstein story on its bolted-on head.” Clare Stewart, BFI

In 2007, Led Zeppelin reformed to play their first and only full set since they split up in 1980. The reviews from the show were incredible and it has never been seen on film, until now.

“The wittiest, most perceptive campus comedy in years.” Entertainment weekly

FROM FRI 5

“One of the best films of the year.” St. Louis Post-Dispatch

“Funny, dark and whimsical, this gloriously crafted stop-motion animation playfully turns the Frankenstein story on its bolted-on head.” Clare Stewart, BFI

The Soloist portrays a homeless man in Los Angeles who suffers from mental health problems and struggles with psychosis. The film highlights connections between mental illness and homelessness and accurately depicts the challenges in supporting someone in their re-housing and recovery. The Soloist will be preceded by Headshifts, a short film made by Penny Arnold and Daniel Saul.

A man from Ohio suffering mood swings, nightmares and hallucinatory episodes, is convinced the world is about to be consumed by an apocalyptic storm and seeks to protect his family. “Writer-director Nichol is as concerned with the minute, everyday pressures of modern life - as well as the portrayal of mental illness.” Time Out.

Starring: Benedict Wong, Omid Djalili

Director and composer Gary Tarn (Black Sun) takes Kahlil Gibran’s classic novel and spins it into a cinematic exploration of love, life and loss. An intimate narration, performed by actress Thandie Newton, is integrated into a minimal score for orchestra, guitar, cello and synthesiser. This fictional text is juxtaposed against footage shot on Tarn’s solo travels to Lebanon, Serbia, New York, Milan and London. We’re pleased to welcome director Gary Tarn to attend a postscreening discussion.

GROW YOUR OWN (PG)

Dir: Jeff Nichol United States 2011 120m

THE PROPHET (CERT TBC) + DIRECTOR’S Q&A

Starring: Robert Downey Jr, Jamie Foxx

Starring: Jessica Chastain, Michael Shannon

2007 97m

Dir: Gary Tarn United Kingdom 2011 75m

A feel-good comedy which celebrates the diversity and inclusivity of allotments. “A gentle, astute, lifeaffirming British comedy.” Film4

Evidently...John Cooper Clarke records and celebrates the life and works of Punk Poet John Cooper Clarke, presenting his life as a poet, a comedian and a recording artist, revealing how he remains a significant influence on contemporary culture. As comedians, lyricists, rock stars and cultural commentators pay homage to him, the film depicts John Cooper Clarke as a dynamic force who remains as relevant today as he ever was. We’re delighted to welcome John Cooper Clarke to Broadway for a live appearance following the screening.
