Welcome of the Irving Healthcare Foundation where $36 MILLION has been raised and granted; providing opportunities to improve the quality of life for so many through Baylor Medical Center at Irving, The Irving YMCA’s Childhood Obesity Task Force, Our Children’s House at Baylor Irving and the Irving Community Clinic.

Welcome to the 35th Annual TexasFest!

Tonight, you will be transported to a land that might just become “curiouser and curiouser” as together we go down the rabbit hole and into the whimsy of Texas in Wonderland!

I would like to give a HUGE heartfelt thanks to my friends Clem Lear, Carolyn Weinzirl, John Drake, Paula Romano, Steve Kemble, Connie Dunn, IHF Chairman, Brian Smith, the 2014 TexasFest Steering Committee and all the amazing volunteers for giving of your time and incredible talents to make this evening amazing. I would also like to give special recognition to lifelong friends of my family---The Mazons—John, Helma, Lisa, Shelley and Johnny--Thank you for your love and support of this foundation and the people of Irving. Your family has a special place in my heart and I have so much respect for the positive example you always set. Gratitude also goes to Chris Wallace and my team at the Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce for the all-around support you have given me in this role. I am blessed to have each of you in my life.

The honor of serving as the 2014 TexasFest Chair is something very special and personal to me. Supporting the Irving Healthcare Foundation and its beneficiaries is practically part of my genetic makeup. In the early 1960s, my grandfather, Leonard Pike, went door-to-door raising money to help Irving build its first community hospital, where a few years later in the maternity ward, my parents, John and Martha Pike, would welcome me and my beautiful sister, Merri, into the world. As an adult, I spent a majority of my life working in the healthcare industry in Irving and now proudly serve on the Irving Healthcare Foundation Board where I plan to continue the family tradition of supporting positive efforts for a healthier Irving!

To my best friend, Jason----Thank you for all the love, laughs, and support a girl could ever ask for. It is absolutely amazing how God knew exactly what I was looking for in a husband and he was spot on when he brought you into my life. Being married to my best friend is the best feeling in the world and I love you.

As the hospital celebrates 50 years of serving our community, I hope you will also join me in celebrating the continuous hard work

And finally, this evening would not be possible without each of you. To our sponsors, our supporters and our patrons, from the bottom of my heart – Thank you! As hundreds of people in our community become healthier thanks to your support of this event, your generosity will be creating so many big, beautiful smiles across our city…even the Cheshire Cat would be envious!

Irving Healthcare Foundation We care…

Founded in 1977 by a group of visionary-thinking civic leaders, the mission of the Irving Healthcare Foundation is to make people healthier by awarding funds raised and encouraging volunteer service to worthy local nonprofit healthcare organizations.

We give…

We provide efficient, cost-effective fundraising support to our beneficiaries so that they can focus on providing quality care. To date, more than $36 million has been disbursed to our nonprofit beneficiaries.

IHF Beneficiary: Childhood Obesity Task Force Thanks to the tremendous support of the Irving Healthcare Foundation and its partners, the Irving Family YMCA is now recognized nationally for its commitment to deliver cutting-edge programs like Salsa Sabor y Salud and F.I.T. for Health to combat the epidemic of childhood obesity. What started as a pilot program has been sustained thru your support and poised for expansion thru our increased partnership with Irving ISD. More than 300 families representing 1.000 people have been empowered by one of these two programs to take control of their own health and wellness.

We touch lives…

IHF Beneficiary: Irving Community Clinic (Formerly Irving Interfaith Clinic)

Baylor Medical Center at Irving’s Emergency Room served nearly 73,000 patients in the year ended June 30, 2013—in a space last renovated in 1998 to accommodate a maximum of 50,000 visits. A projected 100,000 visits are expected by 2025.Preparing the Baylor-Irving Emergency Department for 2014-2030 will cost $24.9 million. Irving Healthcare Foundation has been asked to secure $3 million of this total through community gifts. To date, the hospital and foundation boards (past and current members) and employees have pledged $1.6 million.

Since opening its doors on January 1, 2006, Irving Healthcare Foundation (IHF) has helped fund through donors’ generosity the care provided to indigent, uninsured patients of Irving’s only daytime and evening charitable medical and dental clinic. Gifts help provide health for Irving’s residents and those from neighboring communities in Dallas county who:

IHF Beneficiary: Emergency Department Expansion

• Have no health or dental insurance • Have total household income levels that are 200 percent of the federal poverty level or less (approximately $21,000 for an individual, for example, or $44,000 for a family of four)

Give today by selecting IHF or one of our beneficiaries on your auction tablet to make a donation through your bidder number!
