DIRECTOR’S NOTES Let me be the first to welcome you to Mainstage’s production of AN ACT OF GOD by David Javerbaum. This play was adapted from Javerbaum’s book, THE LAST TESTAMENT: A MEMOIR BY GOD and premiered on Broadway in May of 2015. God is here to deliver his new ten commandments to you, the people of DFW. Now, I am not going to give anything away, so you’ll have to watch the show to find out the rest. Believe me, the irony of mounting this play during a current “Act of God” has not been lost on me. However, I believe now more than ever it is important to laugh, to listen, and to wash our hands vigorously for 20 seconds under hot water. Please see that you do all three. JAKE BLAKEMAN Director P.S. Oh, and enjoy the show.

WHO’S WHO SHERRY ETZEL (God) has, at various times in her life, wanted to play God, but she never knew the opportunity would present itself during a pandemic and with so many changes going on throughout the world. Be careful what you wish for! She was last seen at MainStage as Vicki/THE FULL MONTY and Dolly Levi/ THE MATCHMAKER. Sherry’s hope is that this play will safely allow audiences to return to a sense of normalcy, provide an occasional laugh, and give us a chance to come together in the name of irreverence. Shout out to her husband for providing

love, support, and lots of line-running for this production! ERIC J. CRINER (Gabriel) is honored and feels blessed to be a part of this talented cast and wonderful production. His stage credits include Cogsworth/BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, The King/CINDERELLA, Bustopher Jones/CATS, The Lion/THE WIZ, The Conductor/THE MUSIC MAN, Stew Pot/SOUTH PACIFIC, The Wizard/ ONCE UPON A MATTRESS, Van Buren/DAMN YANKEES, Yussel/FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, The Mayor/ BYE BYE BIRDIE, Barnaby/

Bravo MainStage!

During this most difficult time Tom, and his co-producer Joan, are ensuring that all aspects of safety at rehearsals, as well as at the Irving Arts Center, are fully following all CDC guidelines.
