advice is simple: “Buy a lot of wine and do your research.” He also believes that a general love of wine is a crucial factor for a winemaker. “I bought a ridiculous amount of wine from 2001 through 2009. And I drank it… usually with friends,” he continued. “And I
paid attention and learned a lot. Our wines today are so much more nuanced and fresh and complex than they used to be.” Kent notes his father’s influence as a key element in his career and says he would not have become as immersed in wine without his father’s enthusiasm. Passion is contagious and passionate people spread the word. I am an example of this phenomenon. Being introduced to my first great Arizona wine 17 years ago started me on the path of telling others about it and seeking more.
