Dear Friend, We’re in the midst of another great season here at the Arden, and we want to thank you for being a part of it! We’ve hosted a thrilling season of critically acclaimed productions and the world premiere of Under the Skin by Michael Hollinger. Up next is the ever-stunning Macbeth. In just a few short months, we will open Passion and celebrate composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim as the first recipient of the new Master Storyteller Award! Here are three of the five great stories we’re bringing to you next season: Metamorphoses September – October 2015 Based on the Myths of Ovid Written and originally directed by Mary Zimmerman From a simple, rippling pool of water, Metamorphoses conjures the force of Ovid’s myths into gorgeous imagery and breathtaking storytelling. Lost love, dangerous passion and reunited soul-mates wrestle with fate in this awe-inspiring Tony Award-winning play. Performed in and around an onstage pool, Metamorphoses is a dazzling theatrical event not to be missed. Funnyman February – March 2016 A World Premiere by Bruce Graham New York City, 1959. A fading vaudeville comic tries to revive his career when presented with the chance to star in an avantgarde off-Broadway play. Inspired by Bert Lahr’s legendary performance in Waiting for Godot, this world premiere by Philadelphia playwright Bruce Graham tells the story of a man whose legacy is on the line and for whom comedy is a serious business. The Secret Garden May – June 2016 Book and Lyrics by Marsha Norman Music by Lucy Simon Orphaned and alone, ten year-old Mary Lennox is sent to live at her estranged uncle’s estate, where she finds herself haunted by the ghosts of her past and the secrets that lie within. Adapted from the beloved novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett, this Tony Award-winning musical is an exquisitely beautiful story about hope blooming from the darkest of places.
