NEWS SUMMER 2016

WHAT’S NEW and Noteworthy ANGEL FIRE WOULD LIKE TO BECOME AN IMBA RIDE CENTER What’s an IMBA ride center? An IMBA ride center is essentially a model trail system recognized for trails that support all aspects of mountain biking. We believe that Angel Fire has the potential over the course of the next 5 years to become one of these amazing riding destinations. Angel Fire Resort has invested a ton in creating the largest bike park in the Rockies. Now it’s time to shift gears and provide an amazing experience for those who are more up-hill and traditional single-track minded as a means to push the envelope to the next chapter. With AAFPO’s support in maximizing the experience and expanding the greenbelt trail system, as well as partnering with the National Forest, there are amazing things on the horizon in terms of recreational opportunities for mountain bikers, hikers and equestrian users alike. To learn more, Patrick Kell (IMBA southwest regional director) will be here June 11th to speak to members and evaluate the proposed vision that is currently being developed.

Golf Course Updates: We have upgraded the irrigation controllers in the field to allow central control resulting in more efficient use of water and electricity while improving playability. We’re also adding two new tees to hole 12, one longer and one shorter. Women and youth will have 100 yards and tournament/pro tee will stretch out to 175. Drainage work continues on holes 7, 15, 16, and 17. Additionally, a couple trees were removed on the left side of hole 18 allowing for more room on the tee shot to align for the second, as well as pruning of trees along the right of that hole.

Plan on Golfing this Summer? Complete our easy waiver form now and speed up the process when renting a golf cart. You only need to fill out the waiver once and it is good for the entire season! Visit bit.ly/2016GolfWaiver now.

PLATINUM ADVANTAGE: If you had a great time skiing this winter with your Platinum membership, be sure to get out on the golf course this summer for what looks to be a great year! With a quick swipe of your Platinum member card at the golf shop, you’ll be on your way to a great game of golf and the great outdoors. Also, don’t forget the Platinum guest card; a great way to get friends & family on the course with you this summer. The Platinum guest card holds 10 rounds of golf or 10 ski lift tickets and is good for 5 years. Simply stop by the membership office to get your card today. We look forward to seeing you!

He was diagnosed with ALS (a.k.a. Lou Gehrig’s Disease) in 2010, two days after his 50th birthday. Doug was able to continue competing with bike and equipment modifications. In 2012, Doug transitioned to racing tricycles and took up the challenge to become the first member of the United States Paralympic Cycling Team with ALS. Doug and his family started Oso High Endurance Sports which is committed to supporting patient service and funding research activities of The ALS Association.
