Director’s Chair
Americade WILL happen in 2021! It will. We and the motorcycle industry are very excited about that, and I suspect you are too. This year, you’ll see an exciting, vibrant return of motorcycling events across the U.S., and Americade especially will be a memorable one. We expect that there will be a surge in interest, an increase in vendors, more demos than any event in the U.S. and lots of smiles. Get ready!
Our 2021 dates are September 2125, putting us SMACK DAB in the middle of foliage season! The Weather Channel shows that the average daily highs average 72 degrees (!), and the weather is historically very dry. So, the fall colors combined with excellent weather will make for an amazing Americade. And, the trajectory of Covid-19 is very promising. This will be an Americade to remember. While we’re excited to look forward, it’s important to take a moment and reflect on what we’ve experienced in the past 12 months. Virtually everyone’s 2020 was challenging, some far worse than others, and my thoughts drift to them as I prepare for 2021. It’s an odd position to be in, planning for a post-pandemic mass event while the virus continues to affect the lives of many in the country. Yet, it’s that future back-tonormal moment that fuels me today, when we can hop on our bikes, ride anywhere we want, and throw that damn mask away. Carpe Diem Throttle. I can’t wait. What will Americade 2021 look like? It will be the Americade 2020 that never happened, in part because we won’t accept defeat to Covid! This is what I wrote last year, slightly tweaked for this year: The overwhelming 2019 feedback was very good, and 2020 2021 should be better. How? • Alonzo Bodden will return!! He’s simply fantastic, and if you haven’t treated yourself to one of his comedy shows, you really need to make time in 2020 2021. • We’re providing you access to several spectacular mountain tops in 2021. See the website for details and get your camera’s ready. • We’re also offering a special boat cruise dedicated to the men and women who have served our country - The Veterans Cruise. We did this several years ago, with two F-16s flying overhead! • The Knights of the Round Table (a huge hit in 2019) will return bigger and better than before.

• And, you’ll see several new, adventurous Guided Rides testing your fortitude - eat your Wheaties! Get ready, look forward, hug your family, turn off the news, and stay safe-

Americade 2020 The Year That Never Was Lake George Village looked a little different for the first full week of June 2020. The rumble of motorcycles and buzzing around the Fort William Henry was muted and the usual Americade excitement did not fill the air. As an event that has historically boasted “we run rain or shine,” canceling was never something even discussed amongst our office in our 38-year history. Then came a global pandemic... We put on our thinking caps and went through every variation of an Americade that we could think of that would comply with the state guidelines and restrictions that were put in place. In the end, there was no way that we could craft an Americade that would honor what we have all come to know and love and
we had to make the gut-wrenching decision to cancel Americade 2020. Though we officially were canceled, many Americaders still came to the region to enjoy their own “Americades” throughout the summer. We were thrilled to see motorcycles roll into town and our local businesses and hotels were ready to welcome them with open arms! Lake George LOVES Americaders! We thank everyone who supported Americade through a year like never before and appreciated hearing many people’s reminiscence of Americades past. We look forward to getting back to our regularly scheduled programming!

GPS Led Unguided Rides Though Americade 2020 was canceled, that didn’t stop Americaders from making their annual voyage to the Lake George Region throughout the motorcycling season. Since we couldn’t offer our usual Americade activities due to Covid-19, we had to get creative. For 2020, we offered GPS Led Unguided Rides for a couple of Americade classics - VT High Gaps and the Covered Bridges tour. Using a smartphone app, Americaders were able to guide themselves along the route with specially noted stops and lunch options they could enjoy along the route. This was a great addition in a strange year and we were so glad to be able to provide a hands-off, covid friendly alternative for those who still wanted to enjoy the Adirondacks and Green Mountains on 2 wheels.

Highlighted Listings provide Volunteer Rooms during Americade Week. These are paid listings and don’t imply endorsement or inspection by Americade Staff. The “Savvy Traveler” is advised to seek feedback from other Americaders, Facebook, or the Americade Message Board.
We would like to thank the unsung heroes of Americade Week, the local lodging businesses that make Americade happen by graciously housing for our Volunteer Staff. Without these accommodations, we would not be able to have the staff needed to bring you the Americade you’ve come to love over the last 38 years. Please help us show our appreciation by booking your stay with one of the many businesses who support Americade!

Lodging Tips
*
If you still need to reserve accommodations, try these tips: • Check out the Accommodations Guide on the preceding pages for motorcycle friendly places to stay. • Don’t just call the first few places in the guide; they tend to get called the most because they’re at the top of the list. • Many small hotels don’t open up their reservation system until April, so a call to them then will often have success and a lower rate. • There are many small towns within a 25 minute ride and they tend to have more available space and lower rates. • The list on right of this page estimates mileage from Lake George to each of the towns with participating properties.

Rolling Thru America 2020 brought us back to the Finger Lakes! Many years ago we had done a tour in the Finger Lakes that was loved by many, so we decided to head back to explore an entirely new region of the southern Finger Lakes and Central New York. We could not have asked for better weather or more beautiful scenery as the leaves were changing before our eyes to fall colors more and more every day. Rolling Thru the Finger Lakes also gave us our first experience with an even smaller group of 40, down from our usual 100 person tours, to keep in accordance with NYS Covid restrictions on group size. We were thankful for the opportunity to really get to meet and learn about each attendee, and attendees were happy to get out on their motorcycles with their fellow RTA friends after a crazy year. The group meandered up and down the lakeside roads, past waterfalls, and green pastures for 2 gorgeous days of riding. It was a great tour and we are looking forward to 2021! We are headed back to Virginia to ride the Blue Ridge Parkway after having to postpone the trip in 2020. This is a great tour - you won’t want to miss it! Interested in the 2021 tour? Rolling Thru America tours span four days, and include lodging at a stunning hotel, two full days of guided rides on wonderfully crafted routes, and seven outstanding meals. They sell out VERY quickly and are usually 90% filled by repeat attendees, but every year a few lucky first-timers are able to get a coveted spot. Don’t miss your chance! Hurry over to rollingthruamerica.com to sign up. Good Luck!

Touratech DirtDAZE was back again for its 5th year in a brand new location! 2020 brought us to beautiful New Hampshire for a fun-filled 5 days at the North Haverhill Fairgrounds. After quickly outgrowing our previous headquarters, the fairgrounds were a welcomed change and provided us tons of space to spread out and host a socially distanced event during the pandemic. A little over 200 adventure bike riders joined us onsite to enjoy the beautiful off-road riding that the region had to offer. Our experienced guides took small groups of 12 people through the woods to several small, outdoor lunch venues. One ride took the group to a farm stand where the group was served pies of all varieties. The group enjoyed a selection of savory pies and side salads for lunch and topped the meal off with a sweet pie treat for dessert. Word of this lunch stop spread far and wide as people stopped by the registration tent to find out where they could get their hands on the delicious treats they had heard of. Unfortunately for them - this ride was SOLD OUT! Luckily this ride is back again for 2021! Touratech DirtDAZE again offered riding seminars and trainings including topics from first aid to the Trans-Continental Trail, how to fix a flat, GPS tracking, and much more. Attendees would return from riding, take a cool shower, and sit back to learn how to be a better rider. We had world-class on-the-bike training offered by Dragoo Adventure Bike Training. One session with them and you were a better rider! Another highlight of the weekend was the riding contest that happened every day. Attendees tested their skills to see who could master our riding challenges and take home the prize. We offered a solo slow ride contest, a 2-up slow ride contest, a dabs contest through the obstacle course featuring several

of our pro guides, and the true test of the weekend: the water cup challenge. Riders had to pick a hand to hold their cup of water and weave their way through the course without spilling water. Whoever ended the course with the most water in their cup took home the cash prize. Get to practicing your handling skills for 2021’s contests! Saturday night was one for the books! The evening started with an over-the-top steak feast brought to everyone courtesy of the North Haverhill Volunteer Fire Department! One thing for sure, this group knows their way around the grill. Hundreds of DirtDaze attendees enjoyed a delicious steak dinner before the evening awards kicked off. Triumph was on hand to award thousands of dollars in prizes to attendees as well as debut sponsored rider Ernie Vigil’s new movie following his wild off-road racing adventures. Festivities continued into the evening with s’mores and riding tales being told around the Triumph Bonfire. It was certainly a night to remember after a long year of being secluded! For 2021, we are back at North Haverhill Fairgrounds for another year of exploring what New Hampshire has to offer. We are excited to introduce a new Women’s Program! SheADV will be on hand offering a program for women who are new to adventure riding and will offer women-focused training, seminars, and group rides. Don’t worry fellas, the women’s program is open to ALL if you want to join and learn some basics of adventure riding. Stay tuned for further announcements: www.dirtdazerally.com

Over here at the Americade office, we are busy planning for Americade 2021! We are excited to be able to host an autumn Americade like never before. If you think you have seen the best of the Adirondacks during a June Americade, just WAIT... there is no better time to see the beauty of the Lake George region than late September and fall foliage season. You will not want to miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! Wounded Warrior Project Silent Auction - After a successful first year in 2019, we are bringing back the Charity Silent Auction to benefit our friends over at the Wounded Warrior Project. Americade has the honor of hosting a group of Warriors every year during the event and we are so thrilled to have them back again for 2021. These Veterans have sacrificed so much and we want to honor their service with both the Silent Auction benefitting WWP and also on our Veterans Cruise that will set sail Wednesday night.
Activity/Event Title Americade Rides - We have some awesome rides lined up for 2021 to take advantage of the stunning autumn colors in New York and Vermont. You asked we answered: we’re heading back to Lake Placid! An overwhelming number of attendees requested we send another guided ride

An Autumn Americade!
to the Lake Placid area, so we are pulling out all the stops for the Lake Placid Adventure. Enjoy a delicious lunch as well as a trip to the top of Whiteface Mountain to really take in some prime leaf-peeping on two wheels! For our more adventurous folks, one wave of the ride will make an optional stop at the mountain coaster for an off-bike adventure down the mountain! Comedy Show with Alonzo Bodden - after taking 2019 off to host the Celebrity Edition of Family Feud, Alonzo is back to take the stage at Americade on Wednesday & Saturday nights. We are so excited to see what he has in store for us this year. If you’ve seen Alonzo perform, you know he does not disappoint. We are also thrilled to have him joining the panel for the Knights of the Round Table on Tuesday night. Welcome back Alonzo - we missed you!! Registration - we are returning to the Holiday Inn! Registration will move back up the hill to the Holiday Inn to make it easier for packet pick up. This will also open up more parking space at the Fort William Henry for our wristbanded attendees to enjoy! That’s just a little bit of what to expect at Americade 2021 - we can’t wait to see you there!
