Director’s Chair [The Americade Times has gone digital! We hope you like it. It gives all of us more freedom in its creation and it gets to you much faster, easier, and cheaper than standard mail. Another new feature is live links. Clink ads and the accomodations listings to go directly to their webpages... and hey, it also saves a tree or two.] I’m blessed because I get paid to create motorcycle events in many special places, and the Adirondacks are simply one of the most beautiful places to ride in the U.S. I don’t need to tell you this; you’ve been here. But, you may not know that every year we work for months developing new rides to new beautiful places. It’s challenging, yet for 37 years you’ve loved our friendly guides, our beautiful lunch destinations, and special stops. How good were our 2019 rides? Marc D. from Scranton PA said, “This is what makes Americade so special. Other events have nothing like this. The tour guides really love what they do! The Twisties and Treats was an incredible ride. The stops were so good! The food was so good that my wife and I are heading back.” The overwhelming 2019 feedback was very good, and 2020 should be better. How? • Alonzo Bodden will return!! He’s simply fantastic, and if you haven’t treated yourself to one of his comedy shows, you really need to make time in 2020. • We’re bringing in another excellent motorcycle-themed comedian; many of you have been asking us to get him, and we did for 2020 (details announced during pre-reg in February). • We’re also offering a special boat cruise dedicated to the men and women who have served our country - The Veterans Cruise. We did this several years ago, with two F-16s flying overhead! • The Knights of the Round Table (a huge hit in 2019) will return bigger and better than before. • And, you’ll see several new, adventurous guided & unguided rides testing your fortitude - eat your Wheaties! You’ll also see more electrified bikes in 2020. At Americade 2019 and at the recent NY International Motorcycle Show, electric motorcycles were a common sight along with their digitally controlled ABS, traction control, digital dashboard, smartphone connectivity and more. Indeed, “they have landed.” Instead of an engineering exercise far from being ready for primetime, mainstream companies now feature them at Americade and other events. (Some eagle-eyed attendees may have noticed me and my father, Americade’s founder, zipping around on them during the week.) It’s exciting to see that they are a reality now. And speaking of “reality,” Americade is a wonderful break from it! It’s a week of riding, laughing, learning, and escaping. This June, consider hopping on two (or three) wheels, riding up here, and spending a week smiling.

Americade 2019 Americade 37… where to begin! Following a year where Americade had the most changes ever, we had much to reflect on for 2019. Our office staff spent months reading through feedback from the thousands of survey responses and brainstorming how to make this year’s event better than the last. So for Americade 37 we brought back classics, tweaked some of the new favorites, and crafted some new activities to keep it fresh! Keep reading to learn about the Events & Activities of Americade that kicked off at Fort William Henry HQ on Monday. Americaders could check in starting Monday morning with a line wrapped around the FWH conference center waiting for the doors to open. Monday evening brought the Opening Celebration by Rider Magazine to the Big Top Tent including a mind-blowing performance from comedian magician Matthew David Stanley, live entertainment from the Rick Bolton Trio, and thousands of dollars of prizes being awarded from Rider! In addition to hosting the Opening Celebration by Rider, our headquarters at the Fort William Henry (FWH) was also the site for many other activities throughout the week: Factory Demo Rides, Skills Challenges, a VIP Hospitality Tent, Americade University, top notch Stunt Shows, Trivia Night, a Charity Silent Auction and more! New this year, we had a shuttle for those who needed a little “assistance with distance” to get between the HQ and the EXPO. The golf cart shuttle laps between pick up locations all week and attendees loved it. New this year was Americade’s 1st ever Charity Silent Auction to benefit the Gary Sinise Foundation. Lucky Americaders took home some great gear at a fraction of the ticket price while giving back to a great organization. This was such a success this year, and we look forward to seeing it grow in the future! Around the region, Americade sent thousands of motorcyclists to some amazing locations by way of great handcrafted routes for our Guided and Unguided Rides. Our excellent guides led registered Americaders through historic New York & Vermont Covered Bridges, north through the Adirondacks to a tree top adventure, and beyond! We had all new routes for the Charity Poker Run and The Amazing Ride which sent attendees out on their own on a hunt for clues to find the next specially marked kiosk.

...In Review New York State Motorcycle Safety Foundation offered their always popular instruction course atop Prospect Mountain. Registered attendees could sign up starting Monday when registration opened for one of the two classes MSF was offering-- spaces filled fast! This year they offered an Advanced Rider Course for experienced riders to improve their handling, corners, and braking. MSF also offered an Ultimate Bike Bonding Course that focused on limited-space maneuvers, modeled after police training courses. This allowed attendees to learn more about their abilities and the capabilities of their motorcycles in a controlled environment. Between MSF and our five full days of seminars from industry professionals, there were plenty of opportunities to learn to be a better rider! Back again this year was Americade’s Block Party in a NEW location! At the corner of Beach Road on Friday and Saturday was a large stage, beer tent, hours of music and more! Folks could walk freely between the EXPO, the Block Party, and Lake George Village to take part in the two day music extravaganza. We had performances Friday from Dirt Cheap, Kyle Bourgault Band, Better Off Led, and E.B. Jeb, and on Saturday The Switch Band, Sly Fox and the Hustlers, Country Fresh Band, and Steal Your Peach Band rocked the block. Capping off the performances was Dashboard Anthem with a set that left the audience begging for more! Between sets, the Globe of Death was nearby to amaze crowds with their high flying overhead stunts. Saturday morning brought us back to the Queensbury Hotel in beautiful downtown Glens Falls for the 2nd Annual Americade Ride for Kids Charity Ride & Parade to benefit the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation! After a successful first year, we were excited to see how this grew in year two. WOW! Our riders did NOT disappoint. The huge line of motorcycles departed to enjoy a nice hour-long parade from Glens Falls through Lake George Village and ending with a delicious meal, great live music, and Ben & Jerry’s ice cream at the Lake George Lanes & Games. What a special day! Keep reading to see everything Americade 2019 had to offer!

Ameri-Monday Kick Off Americaders were lined up bright and early Monday morning to check in and pick up their registration packets at the Fort William Henry Conference Center. NYS MSF was on-site signing people up for their exclusive Americade week classes and spaces went quickly as eager early birds filed in. For those new to Americade or those looking to learn everything 2019 had to offer, we held the What’s New & What To Do meeting that afternoon. Americade Director Christian Dutcher and a host of volunteers were on hand to answer questions about the Events & Activities on the week’s schedule. If folks weren’t able to make it on Monday, Tuesday was a second chance to catch up on what was going on for the rest of the week. Ticket holders for the Monday night dinner enjoyed a delicious Prime Rib Buffet in the FWH’s White Lion Room for Dinner by the Lake. Diners enjoyed a lavish meal, great conversation, and fun prizes from RoadRUNNER Magazine while overlooking beautiful Lake George. Next it was time for the main event -- Americade’s Opening Celebration by Rider Magazine! Every seat was filled as Americaders spilled out onto the FWH grass to enjoy our Monday night kick off. The Rick Bolton Trio performed for the crowd as registered attendees had their choice of a dessert or drink while they waited for the awards and prizes to begin. Spectators then enjoyed a one-of-a-kind performance from comedy magician Matthew David Stanley who left the crowd in stitches. Rider Magazine was onsite and generously gave away over $6,000 in prizes to registered attendees. Congratulations to all of our winners! Don’t miss your chance to win a prize at Americade’s opening celebration by registering for Americade 2020 starting in February.

Guided & Unguided Rides...

Americade Guided and Unguided Rides brought back fan favorites as well as some new firsts that did not disappoint! Americaders on our guided rides were treated to spectacular scenery, delicious food, exciting attractions, and perfect riding roads in the Adirondacks and Vermont. Guided rides offered were the Central NY & VT Covered Bridges, Diamond Tour, The Spoiler and new this year: The Adventurer and Twisties & Treats. Highlights from the week included Wednesday’s Diamond Tour where lucky ticket holders on this sold out tour were able to “Ride with Rider.” Editors from Rider Magazine joined the group for a day of riding and an awesome lunch where they were able to chat with Americaders one-on-one and hand out some great prizes. If you missed your chance to get a spot on this year’s ride with Rider Magazine, don’t worry - they will be back again next year for another tour! The Adventurer Tour was another sold out ride for 2019 as we introduced an extended guided ride for those looking for more seat time. The tour headed north for a full Adirondack experience, first stopping along the way to take in some natural geological wonders of the area. After a bountiful lunch, the tour continued to another great venue that allowed riders to take in the beauty of the Adirondacks from a tree-top nest overlooking the mountains. Clocking in at 235 miles, this is the longest guided ride Americade has ever offered and also one of the quickest to sell out! Another first for our guided rides this year paired a scenic guided ride with a food tour around the region on the Twisties & Treats ride. Americaders made several stops along their ride to take in samples of some local

10

an Americade specialty!

treats. This allowed riders to enjoy both the scenic and savory beauty of the area like never before. Each stop provided a small sample as to not spoil the delicious lunch that awaited them. Many have raved that the Twisties & Treats lunch was their favorite meal with one attendee claiming the best meal of the last 16+ years he’s attended! This tour was a thrill for all the senses and will definitely be back to treat your palettes in 2020! For those wanting to ride on their own, we also offered a selection of handcrafted unguided rides. This year’s selection included the Star Trek Original Series Set Tour, The Sidewinder, and the VT High Gaps. The Sidewinder gave attendees a new route through many twists and turns to a quaint lunch stop. Attendees of the Star Trek Tour got to enjoy a delicious breakfast before heading to view an exact replica of the Star Trek Original Series Set, and boy were they in for a treat on Saturday when the one and only William Shatner was on-site! Getting out on the road to explore the amazing sights this region has to offer is one of the best things about Americade. Each fascinating route includes a top-notch meal & great prizes from our sponsors! Thank you to our generous sponsors!

11

Stunt Shows Americade 37 welcomed back the Smage Brothers Riding Show again this year in the Demo Area of the Fort William Henry. PhilSmage and his riding partners Troy “Smallz” Neault and Jordan Trey pulled out all the stops for their jaw dropping performances. They rode up near-vertical walls, did backflips, jumped big gaps, wow’d with 180 degree helicopters, bunny hops, low-speed wheelies, full speed stoppies, and an endless array of balance skills. This group is always an Americade favorite and this year was no exception! Also performing was 2-time World Champion Teach McNeil with astonishing stunts aboard his BMW S100RR. Teach is a factory sponsored BMW rider and performs around the world, and we were lucky enough to have BMW bring him to Lake George for Americade 2019! He left the crowd breathless with his infamous tricks that seem impossible! Along with performing in the Demo Area, Teach was on hand Saturday and performed in the Ride for Kids Charity Ride & Parade.

Amazing Ride

Those looking to leisurely check out the region were able to take the week and complete The Amazing Ride. Folks could hit the road anytime Monday through Friday armed with clues to find kiosks hidden amongst five great communities. It was up to them to use maps, GPS, or their own homing instincts to plan a route. From there they had to visit at least three of the locations, find the kiosk, and stamp their playing card to qualify for the Friday Night Spectacular drawing of a fabulous Freecom2 Duo from Cardo Systems/Scala Rider. Congratulations to our lucky winner Cecile Browers of Lowell, MA! We hope you enjoy your new Freecom2 Duo Pack communications system on your next journey to Americade!

Americade’s staple Charity Poker Run was back again on Thursday as folks tried their luck on a brand new route. Hundreds of eager riders rode through the region, visiting scenic & tucked away locations they probably wouldn’t have found on their own while getting the chance to do some good for worthy charities. BMW, Honda, Indian, KTM, Moto Guzzi, Motor Trike, and Yamaha donated over $1,000 in prizes, and everyone who took part in the Poker Run was given a door prize ticket for a chance to win. Every year we have two categories, AMA member and Non-AMA member, that we award a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prize. Congratulations to this year’s winners!

Factory Demos & Dis

Americade 2019 was once again home to the MOST demo brands & bikes in one place in the U.S.! Americade Demos brought attendees from far and wide to try the latest rides from the top manufacturers. Demos and displays this year included BMW, Honda, Indian, KTM, Moto Guzzi, Motor Trike, Roadsmith and Yamaha. Dunlop was on-site talking tires with those who stopped by their display. Demos ran through Saturday and people were still begging for more! New this year, Yamaha brought exciting demos on their electric bicycles. Why bicycles? They’re a GREAT way to get a non-motorcyclist to become a rider. They’re lightweight, very easy to ride, and are an “automatic” transmission - the new rider doesn’t need to know how to shift. To get a feel for the bike, folks got to take the e-bikes through a handcrafted obstacle course in the middle of the demo area. That wasn’t the only new item rolling off the Yamaha truck this year either. For the first time, Americaders were able to demo the Yamaha Niken! The “leaning multi wheel” motorcycle was not one to miss, and registered

14

attendees stepped up to check out the two front wheels of this unique ride. Thank you to Yamaha for bringing these fun firsts to Americade 37! Lee Parks and his coaching crew were on-site offering a “Gymkhana course. It was a fun, serpentine course giving ebike riders a thrill as they navigated the course. More importantly, it allowed Lee and his coaches to offer riding tips (at no charge) to help improve slow speed bike handling skills. Americade is the place to test ride before making the best decision of your life!

Cruisin’ Lake George

Anchors away! After a great day of riding, Americaders looking for something to do off their bikes hopped on one of our dinner cruises on gorgeous Lake George. Nicknamed the “Queen of American Lakes,” Lake George was voted the most beautiful lake in the United States, and it was easy to see why during these breathtaking Cruises. Much of the Lake George shoreline remains as it was in the early 1900s and offers views of secluded bays, quaint cottages, and pristine shores. The mood of the lake changes from day to day and there’s always something stunning to see. With a cruise happening nightly Tuesday through Saturday, Americaders had ample chances to get out on the lake for one (or more) of the four special two-hour cruises. Wednesday night brought back an Americade fan favorite - the Mardi Gras Cruise! With party beads in hand, Americaders boarded the Lac du Saint Sacrement to a true New Orleans vibe including an incredible six piece Zydeco band. The mouthwatering dinner menu brought those on board right to “The Big Easy,” featuring Chicken & Sausage Jambalaya, Cajun Catfish, Salad Bar, Red Beans with Rice, and Bread Pudding. On the open deck, folks enjoyed a perfect spring night as they kicked back and relaxed while taking in the lush scenery. Friday night, those lucky enough to snag a ticket to the Fireworks Cruise enjoyed an up-close, breathtaking display of pyrotechnics over the lake aboard the Minne-Ha-Ha. Everyone on board each cruise also received a door prize drawing ticket as they boarded the ship and were entered to win cool prizes from the sponsor of the night. Thank you to our sponsors!

Americade’s EXPO... The EXPO had it all from A to Z! • Accessories • Brakes • Chrome • Communication Systems • Ear Protection • Helmets • Insurance • Jackets • Leather • Lights • Oil • Pinstripers • Seats • Tires • Windshields • And More! Tuesday morning the EXPO, sponsored by AARP/Foremost Insurance, kicked off with attendees from all over shopping for great deals! The FREE motorcycle parking, located right outside the Beach Road entrances, filled up quick with eager shoppers. Once inside, shoppers could stop by one of the many booths for their motorcycle needs! Motorcyclists are always looking to add something new and different to their “baby” and the EXPO had it all. Need a new seat...no problem! Need your oil changed...you got it! Need new lights…we’ve got those too! And you could get them all installed right on-site! And you can’t forget to buy for yourself! Need a new jacket…done! Need new ear protection…we have that and you can get them custom made too! How about a helmet or eyewear...yeah, we have those too! And the food…YUM!

Where you can try it, test it, and install it! Back again on display was the Official Gear of Americade. Americade partnered with top companies in the industry with each having a special display at Americade’s EXPO. Registered full week attendees had the opportunity to win this top notch gear among the grand prizes at the Friday Night Spectacular. This gear is truly the best of the best the industry has to offer and the best part is -- it is all available on-site to try on, test out, and purchase right at the EXPO! The entertainment inside the EXPO was rocking all day long. While attendees were dining on burgers, chicken, and steak, they were able to enjoy live music from local talent Richie Ortiz. Not one to miss, he sings, he plays the guitar, AND plays bass pedals with his feet--all at the same time! He is truly a one man show and a new favorite at Americade. While Americaders at the Fort were enjoying all the shiny new motorcycles, EXPO goers could see the other end of the spectrum with a stroll through the Vintage Garage. The Americade fan-favorite returned again for 2019, and attendees were able to admire the vintage BMWs, Hondas, Indians, Safticycle, Suzukis, & Triumphs brought by the Antique Motorcycle Club of America. These classics spanned the 1900’s from the early teens through the 70’s. Americaders were awed by the styling and technology of earlier years and were thrilled to trace the origins of some of the best features in the bikes they ride today! Makoto Endo was back again this year and was hunkered down in the Vintage Garage Tent showing off his astounding one-of-a-kind painting technique. Makoto uses chopsticks and ink to create intricate paintings and was using the beautiful antique motorcycles as his subjects. Once you were done at the EXPO, it was a quick walk up the stairs to the Fort William Henry to catch a demo ride, stunt show, and more. Also right outside the EXPO, on Beach Road, was the free battery check courtesy of Yuasa! Tuesday through Saturday folks could pull up to Yuasa’s convenient location on their way to and from the EXPO to have their battery checked and learn how to get the most power possible. A big thank you to Yuasa for keeping our Americaders ready to ride! 2019 EXPO was a hit and we can’t wait to see what 2020 has in store!

19

Trivia Night & Silent Auction New for 2019 was the Motorcycle Trivia Night and Silent Auction! It was a completely unique and fun approach to a trivia night, focused on motorcycling, using sounds, images, props and fun questions. Americaders teamed up and took their turns with trivia such as trying to hear the difference between a V-twin and parallel twin, guessing who is the oldest American motorcycle company, and figuring out manufacturer logos from their silhouettes. Those who were a wealth of trivia knowledge took home the top prize with some great Ameri-gear and free Americade 2020 packages! Along with their trivia cards, ticket holders got to enjoy a tasty menu with an abundance of finger foods including Buffalo Chicken Wings, Chips & Salsa, Mozzarella Sticks & Marinara, Soft Pretzels, Pulled Pork Sliders & Lemonade. The first ever Americade Charity Silent Auction took place simultaneously next to the Trivia Night. The auction featured a wide variety of gear such as $500 Klim helmets, $600 Shoei helmets and even a chance to win dinner with Americade Founder Bill Dutcher! The top bidders walked away with a great deal on some amazing items and even better than that, 100% of the proceeds went to the Gary Sinise Foundation, benefitting our vets! If you missed this year’s Silent Auction, don’t worry! It will be back again in 2020 even bigger and better!

ATV Rides New this year for the fun-seeking adrenaline junkie, Americade offered the perfect adventure: an off-road, all-terrain vehicle guided ride through the forests of the Adirondacks. Those lucky enough to get a spot experienced the thrill of driving a high-performance side-by-side along rolling paths, past sunny meadows, and through shaded groves of trees. This off-bike Adirondack Adventure was a HIT for year one, and we look forward to bringing it back again for 2020!

Brew Tour & Dinner Back by popular demand: Brew Tour & Dinner! The lucky Americaders who were able to get a ticket during the first week of registration enjoyed an inclusive tour of three of the region’s finest breweries with a dinner stop in beautiful, historic downtown Glens Falls. Ticket holders left their motorcycles behind and hopped aboard a uniquely decorated brew bus and headed off to enjoy their tour. They tested samples of many different types of beer and saw the beer making process from behind the scenes right on the brewing floor. After their final tasting, folks enjoyed a delicious pub dinner including Fish & Chips, Bacon Cheddar Burgers, Flatbread Pizza, Pulled Pork sandwiches and more. Following dinner, the bus brought attendees safely back to their starting point at the FWH Miss your chance at one of the coveted spots this year? Don’t worry! We are bringing back the Brew Tour again for 2020! WARNING: THIS SELLS OUT FAST. You will want to sign up as soon as registration opens if you hope to join this experience next year!

Americade University

Americade University is the only FREE University to learn everything about motorcycling. For 2019 you could learn how to buy the right battery for your bike, to communication systems, to riding techniques, to riding around the world, and even how to cook on two wheels! On Tuesday Jenny Smith, Rider Magazine Managing Editor, reminded us all why we love to ride - with her hilarious and colorful seminar “Oh the Places You’ll Go!” Wednesday kicked off with Fred’s Coffee Club. This laid back group chat was full of unique motorcycle stories! And the coffee was pretty good too! Wednesday night Lee Parks had a full house as he explained Counter-steering, Geometry and the 3 Handling conundrums. This informative seminar taught us why bikes sometimes go wider or tighter when you apply the brakes, throttle, and steering. Thursday began with Ladies Coffee Club by Diane Ortiz from the Big Apple Motorcycle School. Women riders discussed everything about being a female motorcyclist, and although this seminar was about the ladies, men could join in, too! Thursday night concluded with the Knights of the Roundtable, an evening of silliness including motorcycle notables Bill Dutcher, Fred Rau, David Hilgendorf, Brian Rathjen & Momma D. They had everyone laughing & gasping as they lied about the past and predicted the future. This is one seminar you won’t want to miss for 2020! Friday brought us more seminars from some of the industry’s best. AMA’s Heather Wilson presented a hands-on workshop, Jeff Vey from Motortrike shared his considerable knowledge about trikes, and Steve Turner from Yuasa told us about current and future batteries. Americade University was full of information. Those who attended at least one seminar & one featured speaker were entered into a prize drawing and became an official “roads scholar.” Congratulations to this year’s winner JoAnne Ramm from Carlstadt, NJ. She won a 2 Amp Battery Charger from Yuasa Battery! Thanks to all our presenters (full list on americade.com) and Yuasa for keeping the learning fun! Make sure to keep time in your 2020 schedule to stop by Ameri-University!

Skills Challenge Wednesday afternoon’s Skills Challenge brought new and old faces back to the demo area to test their skills. There were a couple of new challenges also. First up was the Water Cup Challenge, weaving through cones and avoiding obstacles while trying to keep as much water as possible in the cups that were attached to helmets. Challengers and onlookers held their breath as they watched riders complete their run. In the end, it was down to a few drops difference, but Michael Donlon of Albany, NY took home the inaugural Water Cup Challenge win! The next new challenge on the docket was the Biker Balance Beam. Riders got to take their shot to see how far they could ride down beams running back to back without slipping off. What many thought had looked easy, required strong handling skills to keep their tires on the narrow beam. Frequent competitor Ed Nevin of Downsville, NY was the victor in the long run, taking home the plaque! Scott & Jessah Fabian of Norfolk, VA displayed what years of teamwork can do: the trust and precision riding required with a passenger reaching off the bike, holding five golf balls in one hand, trying to place each one on top of the small end of a traffic cone without dropping any. Their patience and skill paid off with the big win in the Golf Ball Balance Challenge! Congratulations to all of our winners and thank you to everyone who entered or showed up to cheer on our challengers. Brush up on your riding skills and let’s see who takes home the 2020 gold!

Block Party

Americade’s POPULAR & FREE Block Party was back and in a NEW LOCATION for 2019. Moved to the corner of Beach Road & Canada Street, the Block Party kicked off on Friday night with a huge stage and LIVE music from some of the best bands in the region! Friday Block Party goers enjoyed the musical stylings of Dirt Cheap, Kyle Bourgault Band, Better off Led & E.B. Jeb.

Saturday kicked off with the musical entertainment of The Switch Band, Sly Fox and the Hustlers, Country Fresh Band, Steal Your Peach Band, & Dashboard Anthem. While the bands changed sets, party-goers enjoyed fresh cold drinks and watched the spectacular Globe of Death! Since the Block Party was all day, you could also stop by the EXPO and check out all the different motorcycle accessories that were available. With its location near downtown Lake George, you could grab a bite to eat or drink at one of the many restaurants that offered discounts to Americaders. Americade 2020 will host the block party again with new entertainment and live music. We’ll see you there!

Wounded Warriors A highlight of our Americade week was hosting the Wounded Warrior Project again. 26 Warriors from around the Northeast met up at Americade 2019 for several days of riding fun. We set them up with a full schedule of Americade activities from guided and unguided rides, boat cruises, dinners and more. Memories and friendships were made, fun was had, and we can’t wait to have them back again next year. Thank you to the Wounded Warrior Project for allowing us to be a part of their efforts and THANK YOU to our Warriors for their service! “Being able to spend a few days with my fellow warriors in what I call throttle therapy, has a value for which you can’t put a price-tag on!!! Can’t wait to do it again! THANKS WWP and Americade!!!” - Kevin “There’s no singular American experience that more completely embodies freedom than the liberating joy of the open road, wind in your face and the excellent company of like minded riders. I so sincerely appreciate Americade for hosting our Wounded Warrior group during the 2019 rally. There is no more like minded riders than those who have paid the price to preserve freedom such as the Wounded Warriors. There aren’t words that can convey the therapeutic value of us being able to get together to enjoy and participate in the epitome of American Freedom at its best. Looking forward to Americade 2020!!” -Butch E., USMC “We had a wonderful time attending and riding in Americade 2019 thanks to Nancy Beestra and Wounded Warrior Project. Through their careful planning and organizing of our group of Veterans and guests, it was an enjoyable experience for all in the beautiful Lake George region. We hope we can do it again! Thank You” - John and Susan Hendricks “I have to say coming up to the Americade is always special to me. First, my family lives in Lake George so I basically grew up here, and you can never get tired of the view especially riding your bike through the picturesque roads with your brothers and sisters. The Americade in L.G. will go on forever, and I’m glad to be a part of it with the WWP.” - Craig McNabb

Friday Night

The Friday Night Spectacular kicked off with the Audio Stars rocking the Big Top Tent at Fort William Henry! Americaders packed the tent and the FWH lawn overlooking beautiful Lake George, eager to find out who this year’s big winners would be of tens of thousands of dollars in prizes, including a brand new Indian motorcycle! Before the awards, Friday Night Dinner ticket holders enjoyed a tasty menu including Penne Alfredo, Chicken Piccata, Roast Sirloin of Beef Madera Demi Sauce, Roasted Pork Loin Apple Compote, and a slew of mouth watering sides to fill their plates. It was the perfect way to enjoy a delicious dinner right under the Big Top Tent and diners were able to secure their seats for the big show early. Friday Night was also home to People’s Choice Judging. Spectators were able to see and vote for some of the best bikes of the week. This year’s winner was Rocky Zagari from Floral Park, NY with his 2003 Honda Gold Wing 1800 Trike. Congrats, Rocky! FNS goers got to enjoy a special moment with the first award of the night when one lucky Americader took the stage (with a little inside help) to win an Ameri-swag bag. Much to everyone’s surprise, including his girlfriend by his side… he proposed and she said yes! The happy couple left the stage to cherish the moment with their close friends… and a few thousand fellow Americaders! Congrats to Christian & Tristan! Other winners from events throughout the week also received their awards on Friday. This included the AMA and Non-AMA Poker Run winners, Longest Distance to Americade, Oldest Rider, & the Amazing Ride. The grand prize of the night was a brand new 2019 Indian Scout Sixty and the entire tent of ticket holders was on the edge of their seats as a winner was picked. This year’s top prize went to Justin Sorrell of Mooers Forks, NY. Justin and his friends’ excitement could be felt from afar as he took the stage to claim his prize. As Americade Director Christian Dutcher teased the winner’s town before announcing the name, Justin knew (since its population is just over 1000) that it had to be either him or his friend next to him who would be taking the new motorcycle home. Cheers rang through the Big Top Tent as Justin announced that he had arrived to Americade on a 1982 Yamaha Maxim and now would be leaving with a brand new 2019 Indian Scout Sixty with 0 miles on it. Congratulations Justin on your big win! We can’t wait to see you ride into Americade 2020 on your new Indian motorcycle! After the awards and prizes were done, the AudioStars took the stage again while our landside spectators awaited the start of the Friday Night fireworks over Lake George. Americaders who were able to get a ticket aboard the Fireworks Cruise on the Minne-Ha-Ha enjoyed an up close view of the spectacular fireworks show while floating on beautiful Lake George. There is no better way to experience the Americade fireworks than from the middle of the lake! Want your chance to join the ranks of the winners’ list in 2020? Register for a full week Americade wristband starting in February!

Ride For Kids

Having fun, helping sick kids, and winning a new Honda! Back even BIGGER and BETTER than last year was Americade’s Ride for Kids Charity Ride & Parade to benefit the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. Motorcycles gathered in beautiful downtown Glens Falls at The Queensbury Hotel to take part in the hour long ride from the city center to Lake George. Based off the feedback we received in 2018, we changed the route for this year so the parade route went through Lake George Village, and lapped back down Canada Street, ending at the Lake George Bowling Alley.

Upon arriving to the end of the parade, those who had signed up and donated through RFK were greeted by the delicious smell of Outback Steakhouse being grilled fresh on-site! Outback Steakhouse of Queensbury graciously donated a feast fit for kings and queens for the RFK attendees to enjoy for lunch. After an amazing meal, Ben & Jerry’s of Lake George was on hand to scoop up some free ice cream for anyone looking for a sweet treat. After an amazing first year, we are thrilled to see how the Ride for Kids Charity Ride grew in its second year. We were able to raise nearly $20,000 for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation to help some truly wonderful children in their fight against an awful disease. We could not be more proud to have been a part of this wonderful cause and look forward to seeing it continue to grow in the years to come! The fun didn’t stop there as we gave away thousands in prizes, including a 2019 Honda motorcycle! (Your odds of winning a new bike in this ride are better than just about ANY lottery on the planet!) Congrats to our winners and thank you to everyone who donated and helped make this ride such a success!

2020 RTA Tours:

Virginia: Sept. 7-10 & Finger Lakes: Sept. 21-24

We pulled out all the stops this year for Rolling Thru America’s 10th Anniversary! 2019 brought us back to Maine for what has been deemed the “BEST Rolling Thru America tour EVER!” The group called a breathtaking resort overlooking Penobscot Bay in a classic Maine coastal town their home-away-from-home for four days. They enjoyed two full days of riding along the most scenic coastal routes on the east coast. They rode down winding peninsula roads, periodically riding along the seaside, passing by and visiting lighthouses along the way-- including the famous lighthouse seen in Forrest Gump! We could not have asked for better riding weather and as an added bonus, the monarch butterflies were out in full force along the wild flowers of the coastline. New this year, we headed down for our most southern tour to date -- Rolling Thru Virginia! The riding on this tour was some of the best we’ve ever enjoyed with two days of more twists, turns, and scenic overlooks than we could even count, including the famous Blue Ridge Parkway. On top of being in riders’ paradise, lucky attendees enjoyed five-star meals prepared by award winning chefs at several exquisite venues, including one that is over 200 years old and has had 23 presidents dine there. We originally planned to only have one year of Rolling Thru Virginia, but due to the overwhelming response, we’re bringing it back again for 2020!

Along with Virginia, we have a great new tour up our sleeves: The All-New Rolling Thru The Finger Lakes! We will be exploring the hidden gems of the Finger Lakes Region & Central New York on some of the best riding roads New York has to offer, including Amish country, scenic lakeside wineries, and astonishing glacier-made waterfalls. Interested in joining one of the 2020 tours? Rolling Thru America tours span four days, and include lodging at a stunning hotel, two full days of guided rides on wonderfully crafted routes, and seven outstanding meals. They sell out VERY quickly and are usually 90% filled by repeat attendees, but every year a few lucky first-timers are able to get a coveted spot. Don’t miss your chance! Americade’s sister rally for ADV riders took new form for its 4th year as Touratech DirtDaze Adventure Rally! A new partnership with Touratech + a new name + a new headquarters based in South Pomfret, VT = the perfect off-road vacation! Hundreds of off-road enthusiasts converged at Suicide Six Ski Area for four days of guided & self-guided rides on dirt roads, along with camping, seminars, and entertainment. Attendees were also able to demo the latest from Honda, Triumph, Beta, and KTM. Honda had the new Africa Twin on hand, KTM their new 790, and Triumph showed off its new Rocket 3GT to excited onlookers. Like Americade, the Touratech DirtDaze Guided Rides were some of the most popular events, taking people deep into Vermont’s Green Mountains and New Hampshire via remote dirt roads, leading to an excellent lunch way out in the country. With the miles and miles of dirt roads in Vermont, this was the best riding at DirtDaze yet. The Suicide Six crew knocked it out of the park with this year’s obstacle course. They spent weeks prior to the event setting up a course filled with rocks, jumps, hay bales, and a huge water crossing! This was definitely a highlight of the attendees’ week, and not everyone used a big adventure bike on it. Touratech Dirtdaze offered numerous riding seminars and training about topics from first aid to African Adventures, how to fix a flat, GPS tracking, and much more. Attendees would return from riding, take a cool shower, and sit back to learn how to be a better rider. We had world class on-the-bike training offered by Dragoo Adventure Bike Training. One session with them and you were a better rider! Thursday began with Spencer & Mike from MotoVermont with their seminar “Adventure Riding & Wilderness First Aid Principles.” They presented on ways to mitigate risks and provided detailed steps to follow in case of an emergency in a remote location. Spencer returned Thursday to show the simplest ways to change a flat and the tools you should always have on hand to do it. Eric Archambault, Touratech USA’s showroom manager and resident GPS expert, showed some tips and tricks to loading GPS tracks

August 20 - 23, 2020 North Haverhill, NH and optimizing a Garmin GPS unit. Steve Kamrad, a gun for hire in the ADV world who has written for many adventure magazines and has tried every adventure bike on the market, brought his wisdom and explored the pros and cons of the bikes. Gary from Barnstormers Off Road brought his motorcycle scale to the EXPO during the day to “Weigh your Babe.” Attendees could ride up on the scale with their gear still on and find out how much their bikes really weighed. He ended the evening by showing attendees how to pick up their bikes should they tip over from all that weight. After riding on Friday, attendees could start their training with Paul Guillien, the CEO of Touratech USA and President & Co-Founder of Backcountry Discovery Routes, and his “10 Tips for Packing your Gear on an Adventure Motorcycle.” Up next was a Q&A with Ernie Vigil, a pioneer of street freestyling and the one to call if it has two wheels and a motor. Avid South African adventure rider Rika (Rieks) de Bruyn, owner of multiple Adventure Bike events in SA and owner/guide of Tour Africa, ended Friday evening with a slide show of her African trips. Her photos and videos left everyone wanting more. Saturday kicked off with Greg Reich, US Sales & Marketing Manager for Magura USA, who talked hydraulic clutch conversions and how they make a ride better. Touratech’s Eric Archambault was back again with his knowledge on how to use Garmin basecamp. Mike Botan, a senior writer for ADVrider. com, and his wife Kim, talked about Iceland. They’ve ridden there twice and it’s one of their favorite ADV riding destinations. Ending the evening was a former Backcountry Discovery Routes board member Tim James who gave a short introduction to Backcountry Discovery Routes and what they offer to the ADV community. For 2020, we’re moving again because we maxed out the property capacity in year one. While it is hard to leave our mountainside home -- and the AMAZING staff that came with it -- we are excited that our new venue will allow us to grow and add some more camping and events! Plan Ahead:

Activity/Event Title Our office staff is back at it, planning for Americade 2020! We appreciate all of the feedback we have received and are excited for what Americade #38 has in store. We can’t reveal all the details yet, but we have a lot of great things up our sleeves! Here are a few things to look forward to in 2020‌ Ride For Kids Charity Ride & Parade - This will definitely be back again for 2020 and even bigger than it was this year! The website to sign up and donate is already live and and has donations coming in so we are expecting a big turn out for our 3rd Annual Ride for Kids Charity Ride. Sign up alone or sign up as a team now! Americade Rides - We had some great feedback for where you all would like to go on an unguided or guided ride in the future and we are pulling out all the stops. 2020 will bring back an Americade classic as well as a new fun route that will take Americaders on roads we have never ridden before. That is all we can say for now-- stay tuned for registration in February for full details!

June 1-6, 2020 Off Bike Adventures - back again this year, we will be cruisin’ Lake George on our Veterans Boat! We’re taking one of our great Americade cruises and combining it with our love of those who have served. All our welcome to join, not just Veterans! We are also bringing a new fun way to experience the Adirondacks to Americade 2020. Registration - we are returning to the Holiday Inn! You asked, we listened and to make parking easier, we are moving registration package pickup back to the Holiday Inn just up the road from Fort William Henry. While we loved having one central location at the FWH, this will help improve traffic flow at the Fort William Henry and allow for those arriving with large vehicles (trailers, RVs, toy haulers, etc.) to access registration with a bit more ease! 2020 also brings back the hilarious Alonzo Bodden and the comical jokes of Russ Nagel. Knights of the Round Table will be hosting some of the motorcycle industry’s biggest leaders. And if that isn’t enough, we will have more factory demos than any other event in the country and will offer more training for on the bike and in the classroom!
