GLOBAL AFRICAN AND DIASPORA LEADERSHIP TELEFORUM In an effort to build consensus across the Global African Diaspora around strategies for cooperating and coordinating, Constituency For Africa (CFA) collaborates with African Views (AV) to facilitate a conference call of diaspora leaders in Africa and western hemisphere, as part of the 2014 ronald H. Brown african affairs series. While time, distance and travel resources have proven to be significant obstacles in the coordination of diaspora in support of Africa, this effort can bridge the gap, by holding the first of several conference calls of diaspora leaders around the globe to open and strengthen dialogue. Brown was a key player in Bill Clinton's successful bid for the presidency in 1992. The following year, Clinton picked Brown to become his secretary of commerce. He was the first African American to hold this title. During his tenure, he promoted American business interests and encouraged American companies to invest in foreign countries, especially in Africa. It was during one of these journeys that he lost his life. Following Brown's death, President Clinton established the Ron Brown Award for corporate leadership and responsibility. The U.S. Department of Commerce also presents the Ronald H. Brown American Innovator Award each year. A few years after his death, his daughter Tracey L. A pioneer in the field of African Affairs. He has over 35 years of experience and has worked in over 30 African countries. And he is recognized as a leading expert on issues related to African policies and programs. He is the founder of the Constituency for Africa (CFA) : a network of organizations, groups and individuals committed to the progress and empowerment of Africa and African people worldwide. CFA’s mission is to build public and private support for Africa, and to help shape a progressive U.S. policy towards Africa.

Mr. Foote serves as an advisor to the African Union’s Ambassador to Washington and as a consultant to the World Bank on African Diaspora issues. Every year, CFA holds the Ronald H. Brown African Affairs series in conjunction with the Congressional Black Caucus Legislative Weekend. The program is named for the late Commerce Secretary, Ronald H. Brown, who was a leader in forging ties between the U.S. and Africa. Secretary Brown highlighted trade and investment opportunities in Africa and personally led trade delegations to Africa. The theme for 2009 was, “Issues, Opportunities and Strategies for Building a Constituency for Africa in the United States“. Julius W. Garvey, M.D., FACS, FRCS Š, is a board certified cardiothoracic and vascular surgeon. He has been on several missions to Ghana, Senegal, Uganda, Malawi, Sierra Leone, Jamaica and Haiti post-earthquake. He has built a school in Jamaica and a school and medical clinic in Senegal, rehabilitated the mausoleum of Kwame Nkrumah in Nkroful, Ghana, where he has been enstooled as Nana Kwesi III, the Safohene of Nkroful.

He lectures internationally on the life and legacy of his father, Marcus Mosiah Garvey. He has been internationally schooled and is an Associate Professor of Clinical Surgery at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Chairperson of the Emancipation Support Group, Khafra Kambon, talks about the struggles Africans have had to overcome through the years. The Emancipation Support Committee of Trinidad and Tobago is an African organization, which for the last 20 years, has been commemorating Emancipation with public lectures, trade shows, concerts and processions. Without a doubt, the commemoration of Emancipation in 2012 marks a significant milestone in the celebrations which contribute positively to the country's international image. Not only is it our 20th anniversary but it is also the 50th anniversary of the independence of Trinidad and Tobago. Dr. Biekman is well-known as a successful politician, lobbyist, networker and broker. She is an activist for almost 47 years in the Pan African and Women’s Movement. She is founder of the African European Women’s Movement ‘Sophiedela’. Under her leadership the Trans-Atlantic Slave trade and the enslavement of African People became a serious issue on the National agenda of the Dutch Parliament in 1998. Within the scope of this development Biekman was appointed to lead the process towards the establishing of National Platform of Dutch Slavery Past and further the building of the (static) National Slavery and the (dynamic) National Institute Dutch Slavery Past and its effects. During the UN WCAR Conference in Durban 2001 Biekman was the NGO Liaison in the Dutch Governmental Delegation. In 2006 she was one of the initiators of the Pan African Roundtable on Durban Plus 5 and one of the project leaders of the Addis Ababa Roundtable in April 2007. She was one of the leading persons from the perspective of civil society during the UN and civil society preparation sessions towards and during the United Nations Durban Review in April 2009. Up to date Biekman is involved in this very complex business. Her mission as she explained is the implementation of the DDPA and the fight against Afrophobia.

Biekman is among a group of civil society activists that lobbied for the creation of the “Decade for People of African descents 2015-2024”, which has been adopted by the G77, the UN Human Rights Council and the UN General Assembly. She sees the UN International Decade 2015-2024 as an excellent opportunity to realize the effective results. Above all dr. Biekman is well known as one of the leading persons/activist for the implementation of the African Diaspora African Diaspora 6th region policy. Since 2004 she has dedicated her life to fulfill the mission of the African Union for the interest of Africa and the interest of African people. Not only in Africa as she said but everywhere were Africans are: in Europe, the Netherlands, republiek Suriname and all places on the Global. She has received several awards for her longstanding work with women and youth, multicultural society, and African heritage and integration policies. Biekman was crowned as a “Knight in the Order of Orange Nassau” by the Dutch Queen for her longstanding track record on activities regarding the Multicultural society. And crowned as “Officer in the honorary order of the Palm” by the President of the Republic Suriname. In December 2008, she received the Premios Emilio D. Castellar Award in Spain acknowledging the 60-year anniversary of the UN Human Rights Declaration. Biekman received the “Gouden Zebra (Golden Zebra) 2011, Lifetime Achievement Award” for her longstanding track record on Anti-Racism activities. The “Raden A Kartini” award she received for her longstanding track record on issues women and girls concern. On August 4th 2014 she received the “African Diaspora Bridge Builders Award” from the African Union African Diaspora Forum.

Founder and Executive Director of African Views Organization, a 501 C3 nonprofit in consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). African Views serves public interest by providing research and analysis on the root causes of social challenges and facilitating sustainable development solutions through a global intelligence collaboration framework in social sciences and humanities. He founded the Foundation for Cultural Diversity. He is the architect of the AV framework, which includes African cultural exchange program for children, a program that connects classrooms in Africa by age groups with classrooms abroad through Skype.

First elected chairperson for the African Diaspora in Sweden, and recently duly elected representative of the Feminist Initiative party in Sweden with a seat in the European Parliament. Having worked for the African Union and served as advisor at both EU and parliamentary level, she was also a key figure in the Swedish boycotts against apartheid in the 1990s. Recognized for her great commitment and active participation in working to combat racism in Sweden, through her involvement in several organizations: “Racism is a real issue now” she says, “We see it spreading in Europe and Sweden”.

The founding director of the Center for African, Caribbean and Community Development at the University of Massachusetts Boston (UMB). Dr. Kamara served as dean of the College of Public and Community Service (1988-1993) and chairman of the Africana Studies Department (1996-2001, 2007-2008, 2011) at the UMB. He also served as a Fulbright Scholar at the Universite Nationale du Benin (1985-1987). He has taught at several other universities including the University of Michigan, Brandeis and Dillard Universities. During the 1990’s he helped to found and continues to coordinate the Annual Martin Luther King, Jr./ Amilcar Cabral Commemorative Program. Also, he collaborated in developing the Community Action Information Network (CAIN). Funded by Kellogg and Boston Foundation grants, this project assisted community based organizations in applying technology and data-based information to community defined purposes for development. A monograph series, Race, Space and Policy Issues, has documented the work of this project.

Dr. Kamara has been involved in educational, environmental and economic development projects both in the United States and West Africa. He serves as an international coordinator for the Youth, Education and Sports (YES) with Africa Program which has served nearly 3000 African youth with branches in Senegal and Benin. From 2001-2002 he was a Senior Fulbright Professor at the Universite Gaston Berger in St.Louis, Senegal. Ms. Admassu is the founder of the African Communities Public Health Coalition (ACPHC), a Los Angeles based nonprofit organization. This organization was birthed from her passion for and understanding of the complexities of her underserved Ethiopian Community. She recruited a multidisciplinary Board of Directors, of which the majority represent the African populations. Ms. Admassu is extensively recognized for her expertise in community social mobilizing and culturally appropriate facilitation of trainings. In addition to providing community-based workshops and trainings to Ethiopian Immigrants, Ms. Admassu assisted the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (LACDMH) African/ African America (AAA) Under Represented Ethnic Population (UREP) subcommittee in assessing mental health service provision in the African Communities. King Charles brings a wealth of wisdom from Osei Tutu and Obiri Yeboa lineage of strong African kings. He is currently the president of African Center, in Kyiv, Ukraine. Before leaving for Ukraine, Charles Asante-Yeboa worked with the Center of Research for the Improvement of Mankind (CRIM), an NGO based in Accra, Ghana, as General Secretary. In executing his duties, he travelled to several countries across the globe, often meeting with African communities as part of his mission. Stanley Straughter is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Center or Black Culture and International Understanding. He is also the past Chairman of the Board of the Constituency for Africa (CFA), the founding Chairman of the Mayor’s Commission on African and Caribbean Immigrant Affairs in Philadelphia and the past Chairman of Echoes of Africa in Philadelphia. Mr. Straughter also served as an advisor to the late Reverend Leon H. Sullivan and participated in the design and implementation of the OIC International programs around the world. He also worked for Reverend Sullivan to create the African – African American Summits that were organized by the International Foundation for Education and Self Help (IFESH). Mr. Straughter serves as the Managing Director of the International Division of Bazilio Cobb Associates, the largest black certified public accounting firm in the United States. The firm provides a range of professional services to its clients which includes auditing, information technology, financial services and management consulting.

Kenia S. Guimaraes is Afro-Brazilian, a multilingual and international consultant. She has managed grants and international projects in Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America. Provided interpretation service for Africare, where she interpreted for former Brazilian President Luis Inacio " Lula da Silva", National Democratic Institute and General Board of Church and Society. She is a graduate of Clark Atlanta University with M.A in International Affairs and Development. She assisted in organizing exchange programs through Morehouse College, Clark Atlanta University and Spelman College with universities in Brazil. She also served as a liaison for Spelman College and Brazilian's black women's HIV/AIDS conference. She has conducted many language and cross-cultural trainings. While in DC she has also worked with immigrant survivors of human trafficking and domestic violence through Ayuda and Second Chance Employment Service.. She possesses widespread cross-cultural knowledge gained from extensive living, traveling and working abroad. Having travelled to approximately 30 countries and being fluent in Portuguese, English and Spanish and proficient in French, she is able to relate to a diverse range of cultural traits. She is passionate about gender and immigrant issues, violence against women and overall Diaspora issues.

He obtained his Bachelor Degree in Agronomy and his Master of Science Degree in Agricultural Engineering at the University of Abomey Calavi in Benin. He has a Ph.D... in Plant, Insect and Microbial Sciences at the University of Missouri (USA) where he graduated as the Doctoral Marshal (first of his class). Ramnath Siddi from India. Activist, in the Siddi Community. The Siddi Community peoples have five hundred years old history in India. Siddis are African Decedents brought to India mainly by Arabs, the Portuguese and the Dutch during slavery period.

In India we Siddi communities’ people are located in Gujarat, Hyderabad, and Karnataka, in the Bombay (Maharashtra State) region and along the western coast, including Goa. Most of the Siddis in India are living in forest and village. Among Siddi Community in India we are following three different religions. Majority of them are Muslim Siddi who is staying in villages especially in Karnataka and Gujarat state. Following by Christian Siddis, Most of them are living in village settlement. But Hindu Siddi are about 90% of them are living in Forest. They live in small clusters constituting settlement of a villages or an independent settlement.

Her unique skills set was developed from a 25-year national and international career. Lena cultivated strong partnerships across sectors, cultures, interest groups and organizational levels to lead fundraising, and major donors’ and stakeholders’ development activities in three comprehensive capital campaigns between $250 million and $750 million. She raised over $150 million in gifts from personal and team efforts. As the Associate Vice President for Institutional Advancement in two public university systems and the Interim Campaign Director for a private university between 2002 and 2011, Lena co-chaired a university strategic planning council and served as a member of two university foundation boards. Hermine G. Zossoungbo, Founder and President of African Immigrant, is a Sociologist and Cultural Anthropologist and expert on African immigrant/African diaspora and African Women and gender issues. Founder and president of the Afro-European Medical and Research Network (AEMRN), Switzerland, explained the AEMRN network is a tool to reach out to the various partners in the world. Although the network has increasingly facilitated this process, innovative ideas to improve practices are always necessary. These could include more frequent virtual education sessions that members with low bandwidth can easily access. The importance of knowledge access for poor countries is one of AEMRN's main focuses with the goal of broadening peoples' skills and thereby increasing the quality of life for individuals in developing countries. Currently he is the Director of the Center for PanAfrican Studies,] President of the Pan-African Center, has been Director of the Journal of Migrations of the Federation of Balearic Immigrant Associations, and has been a member of the Group of African Studies at the Autonomous University of Madrid.

ToasijĂŠ lived his early years in Ibiza in the Balearic Islands where he took up painting and poetry. He was a member of the poetic group Desfauste and participated actively in the cultural life of the island. In 2003, together with a group of African intellectuals, he founded the Association of African and Pan-African Studies, whose journal Nsibidi was the first Spanish-language journal of African social studies. In 2005 he directed the scientific committee of the 2nd Pan-African Congress in Spain under the auspices of the National University of Distance Education. Later he became involved with the Hispanic slavery reparations movement, culminating on 17 February 2009 with the passage of a non-binding motion on the matter by the Congress of Deputies. ToasijĂŠ is a recognized figure of afrocentricity and Pan Africanism in the Spanish Speaking world. Grenadian-born award-winning writer, education campaigner, consultant, lecturer and researcher, who moved to the UK in 1964. He has done notable work in the fields of education policy, management and international development. As a social analyst he specializes in social audits, change management, policy formulation and review, and programme evaluation and development. Since leaving Hackney in 1996 Gus John has worked as an education consultant in Europe, the Caribbean and Africa, and is director of Gus John Consultancy Limited. He has been Chair of the Communities Empowerment Network (CEN) since 1999, and is Chair of Parents and Students Empowerment (PaSE), an organization devoted to empowering students and parents in schooling and education. He chaired the "Round Table" for the National Union of Teachers (NUT) October 2006/March 2007 and produced Born to be Great, the NUT's Charter on Promoting the Achievement of Black Caribbean Boys.[14] In 2010 he produced The Case for a Learners' Charter for Schools, a charter that articulates the educational entitlement of all school students and the rights and responsibilities of everybody engaged in the schooling process – local authorities, school governors, teachers, pupils and parents.

Dougbeh-Chris Nyan, M.D. is medical doctor and a biomedical research scientist of Liberian origin. He earned his medical degree from the Medical Faculty of the Humboldt-University of Berlin in the Federal Republic of Germany and was trained as a scientist at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Dr. Nyan specializes in infectious disease diagnostics. His expertise focuses on developing simple and rapid diagnostic tests for detecting blood-borne infections/pathogens such as HIV, Hepatitis B virus, Hepatitis C virus, Hepatitis E virus, Dengue virus, West Nile virus, and Chikungunya virus. Dr. Nyan is currently a scientist at the Laboratory of Emerging Pathogens of the Division of Emerging and Transfusion Transmitted Diseases at the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). His latest work on Hepatitis B virus diagnosis was recently published in the journal, “Clinical Infectious Diseases�.
