We couldn’t have put the event together so successfully without your commitment and contributions. This report expresses in detail our gratitude and highlights of the event. Bruce Lee’s influence on the World transcends martial arts, film, race, and culture. Many individuals, among them professionals in the arts and entertainment fields, and those in the various categories of Scientific and technological fields, including political and athletic fields all over the world credit Bruce Lee as one of their biggest influences. The great Stan Lee credited him as the first to open Western eye to the remarkable Chinese martial art of Kung Fu. Bruce Lee has inspired generations of people across cultures. His influence in the African worlds was successfully demonstrated in the blockbuster movie, “The Last Dragon,” while other celebrities like Chuck Norris, Jackie Chan, Jean Claude van Damme, Jim Kelly, Taimak, Kareem Abdul Jabar, the great Mohammed Ali, and several others echoed his far-reaching influence across Asia, Europe, America as well as Africa. Bruce Lee’s legacy opened the door for better understanding and appreciation for the invaluable Chinese martial arts in the western worlds. Bruce should be recognized, appreciated, embraced, and celebrated everywhere -- in the spirit of peace, harmony, equality, and the freedom that he stood for.

The event features speeches from Martial art experts, celebrities, cultural and social Icons, public officials, as well as presentations, workshops, exhibitions that pays tribute to Bruce Lee and those that promotes cultural harmony within the American cultural diversity. The program is designed to promote recognition of ethnic contribution in the American Popular Culture. The program was designed to promote recognition of ethnic contribution in the American Popular Culture. This is an agenda of the African Views Organization, who brought all the parts together for the goal of the celebrating Chinese contribution to world cultural development and the American Society. Those contributions are important to celebrate, and in this case, we have a rare opportunity to promote the SDGs when people from various professional sectors, including Nonprofit organizations, social activists, and martial arts centers around the tristate gets a rare chance to pay tribute to the idolized Bruce Lee on his birthday. Individuals and groups from various professional sectors, including Nonprofit organizations, social activists, cultural performers, and martial arts centers around the tristate came together to pay tribute to Bruce Lee on his birthday, November 27th, at the historic Federal Hall National Monument located at 26 Wall Street, New York. The event featured speeches from Martial art experts, celebrities, cultural and social Icons, public officials, as well as presentations, workshops, exhibitions that pays tribute to Bruce Lee and those that promotes cultural harmony within the American cultural diversity. It was a remarkable experience. Chinese Americans, which includes American-born Chinese, are Americans who have full or partial Chinese ancestry have contributed enormously to the American social and economic development for centuries. Many Chinese Americans are immigrants along with their descendants from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, as well as from other regions that include large populations of the Chinese diaspora, especially Southeast Asia and some Western countries like Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and Brazil. Across the country, while Chinese people are still clustered in Chinatowns, most Chinese people live everywhere, and in fact they are one of the highest educated and income earners in the United states. Bruce's death is a loss to the film world, and even a loss to the Chinese people. However, he has accomplished his goal which was to win glory for the Chinese people through films and martial arts. A seven-foot bronze statue of Lee, Nunchucks in hand, was erected in Los Angeles’ Chinatown. The monument is the first of its kind to honor The Dragon in the United States and was cast by an artist in Guangzhou, China. These statues can be found all over China, which is indicative of the affection and appreciation of the People’s republic of China.

MARTIAL ART EXHIBITIONS JI HAN JAE: Grandmaster Ji Han Jae, or Dojunim, translated as Honorable Founder of the Way, was a very influential Korean born in Andong in 1936. He came up with a very effective and practical martial art which he called Hapkido Techniques and worked for the government training the Presidential Security forces, who work on guarding the president in the Blue House, the Republic of Korea’s equivalent to the US’s White House. In 1969, Ji Han Jae was invited to the US as part of President Richard Nixon’s exchange program to train the US secret service, the CIA, the FBI and Special Forces. It was during this period that he met Bruce Lee, who was very impressed with Ji Han Jae’s fighting skills. Bruce Lee asked Ji Han Jae to teach him the spinning kicks that he was well known for. Bruce Lee insisted that Ji Han Jae accept a role in his film, ‘Game of Death’, which he did, and appears in a scene in the movie, and was also a martial arts advisor in making the film. VINCENT LYN: Moderator Performers: ALEX RICHTER & STUDENTS| JOHN LIBUTTI | JI HAN JAE’S STUDENTS|SIFU RICHARD TORRES AND VINCENT BENITEZ Bruce Lee’s real name was Lee Jun Fan, which means “to make prosperous.” Living in Japanese-occupied Hong Kong, the family hoped the name would bring good fortune. He was given his English name, Bruce, as a baby by one of the pediatric nurses at Jackson Street Hospital in San Francisco, where he was born, on November 27, 1940. But Lee didn’t call himself that until high school, when he and his fellow students were asked to choose an English name. Bruce Lee began studying martial arts to fend off childhood bullies. At 18, he enrolled at Washington University and taught Kung Fu to pay the bills. He eventually married one of his students, Linda Lee Cadwell. The couple had two children together, Brandon Lee (who was killed in 1993 while filming The Crow) and Shannon Lee. In 1973, while working on the film The Game of Death, the actor took a painkiller, went to sleep and could not be revived. The cause of death was a cerebral edema. Bruce Lee was also the man behind the original series, Kung Fu, which he originally pitched as a series of Kung Fu episodes, reprised in 1993 as Kung Fu: The Legend Continues. It was his idea to do a show starring a monk who roamed the countryside helping people. Warner Bros. green lit the show in 1972, but cast David Carradine in the starring role instead of Bruce. The news came as a disappointment, but soon after that, Bruce Lee began a flurry of big screen roles that would immortalize him as a cultural icon. Bruce Lee taught martial arts to many celebrities among them are Steve McQueen and James Coburn. Bruce Lee developed a unique expression of martial arts that was personal to him called Jeet Kune Do (JKD) translated: Way of the Intercepting Fist. The idea of intercepting is key to JKD, whether it be the interception of your opponent’s technique or his intent. The basic guiding principles are: simplicity, directness and freedom (the form of no form). JKD has its symbolic representation known as Bruce Lee’s Core Symbol and has its root in Chinese culture and philosophy of the Yin and Yang. Bruce Lee adapted this symbol as a representation of the culmination of his own self cultivation. This symbol is the final in a series of four that show this progression. The stages of cultivation are: 1.) Partiality: The Running to Extremes; 2.) Fluidity: The Two Halves of One Whole; 3.) Emptiness: The Formless Form; 4.) Jeet Kune Do. In Chinese philosophy, yin and yang (陰陽 yīnyáng, lit. "dark-bright", "negativepositive") describe how seemingly opposite or contrary forces may be complementary, interconnected, and interdependent in the natural world. Duality is found in many belief systems, but Yin and Yang are parts of a Oneness that is also equated with the Tao. This duality lies at the origins of many branches of classical Chinese science and philosophy, as well as being a primary guideline of traditional Chinese medicine, and a central principle of different forms of Chinese martial arts and exercise, such as baguazhang, taijiquan (t'ai chi), and qigong (Chi Kung), as well as appearing in the pages of the I Ching. In the ethics of Confucianism on the other hand, most notably in the philosophy of Dong Zhongshu (c. 2nd century BC), a moral dimension is attached to the idea of yin and yang.
