MY PARAGON OF BEAUTY You are proof that getting older does not have to be all about aches and pains, you are the strongest person I know, you never give or take any excuse and I greatly attribute your success to that. You taught me the difference between tenacity and the real action and I also learned that people will forget what you said and did, but will never forget how you made them feel. You have touched so many lives and made great impact positively in hundreds of thousands of lives directly or indirectly and you inspire me everyday The strength of motherhood is greater than natural laws and you are my ROCK mummy. You are the rock behind the woman I am today and you contributed immensely to my growth and stability. Often times I ask myself this question, why do I always want to GIVE BACK? Then I remember, I was born to a philanthropist, a pedigree of grace, a loving, gracious, awesome, beautiful and amazing woman.Words cannot truly explain or express my goodwill and heart-felt message for you today. You have a heart of gold and you mean a lot to me.A lot of times I thought you were wrong, but you were and are always right. Raising me took a lot of patience and determination. Thanks mummy for not giving up on me.Thanks for making our home the happiest place to be and for being the best mum we could wish for!Though I can never repay you for your love and care, I cannot miss to express my gratitude, love and reverence on this beautiful day of the year! Thank you for loving me, teaching me, encouraging me, and raising me.You've worked hard mummy, being a mom is a thankless job, but today, here's your annual thank you! Because of you mummy, I never get worried, I never feel disappointed. I never feel ignored. I know you are here for me always Mum, you're the glue that holds us all together. No influence is as powerful as yours mummy. You are a blessing to many people, but I am especially grateful for the amazing work you have done being my mom. One of my most awesome friends just happens to be one of the most awesome moms on the planet and no matter what I possess and what I gained or what I lost, I was never unfortunate and lost in life just because of your divine presence in my life. To my beautiful, caring, loving and sweet mummy. You make the best Okro and Egusi soup, and today I will be making the same for you! Put your feet up and let me take care of you today! Love you mum! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY PARAGON OF BEAUTY Uloma nwosu

Pedigree of Grace Sometimes I stood in front of my bathroom mirror at our home in Jos, miming and pretending to be polite, poise and elegant. All my effort was to uphold this image of refinement and niceness my mother so effortlessly portrayed irrespective of the circumstance; good, bad or ugly. The harder I tried, the more awkward my reflection seemed. It became clearer after numerous attempts that my mum's charm, diplomatic command of respect, her ability to be kind to everyone and always say the right things was beyond the physical. It had to be divine! The origin of such mannerisms was from God and of God; what I call divine grace! Being a mother is not an easy task (I know now because I am one) but mum you made it seem like a walk in the park. You knew perfectly when to caution your children and when to compliment us. I never experienced peer pressure from friends because you made me feel like I was enough for me and you believed in me.You are a great model and I am proud that I am of your loins. You have a great heart and a beautiful spirit, your presence is always uplifting and encouraging. You selflessly put the happiness and well-being of others before yours. Today, I look back at all the things you have done, the countless lives you have touched and the innumerable anonymous yet note worthy works you have accomplished. I just can't imagine how you do all these with ease. Again, it can only be grace! You stand as a part of God, a part of love, a part of my strength and a part of my success. I'm certain that it's not about standing in front of the mirror and mimicking you but it's about taping into that grace HE has given you. I affirm your unconditional love all the time and I am honoured to have you as my mother.Today I celebrate a pedigree of grace! Happy Birthday Mummy! I love you with all my heart. Uju Rochas- Anwukah

Dear Mother, On this day, you are a year older; your wisdom constantly expanding, your beauty transcending the bounds of commonplace reality and your kindness and determination to change the lives of those less fortunate remains as present as the air that surrounds the earth. Five decades ago, the universe won the lottery with your birth. A perfect gift, you have been nothing but an outstanding blessing to this generation, a venerable role model in dark times such as these: constantly searching for great character and light in the face of overwhelming despair. As a mother, you have been everything and so much more. I truly believe that man I am today is in great part as a result of your amiable, compelling and empathic influence. Happy Birthday Mother. The best friend I did not search for and most certainly do not deserve. You are indisputably and coherently the best person I know. You are the woman described in Proverbs 31 .... your prayers as strong as Hannah's, a dedication reminiscent of Ruth, courage as portrayed by Esther and a purpose as consequential as that of Mary. Thank you for shining brighter than your sun. I pray your warm and encompassing light keeps burning fervently and relentlessly on and on throughout this ephemeral eternity. Life has been complete and exuberant with you in it. Please remain unapologetically and perfectlyYOU.You are most loved beyond compare. God bless my best friend. Your son, Aham Rochas sixteen 16

My Mother, My Hero, My Mentor My Mother, my friend, my sister, my supporter, my disciplinarian, my shoulder in times of weakness, and overall, my biggest fan. It is indeed a rare pleasure to have such a strong woman to look up to daily and learn from every second. You have always been there for me, a listening ear and a stern voice stirring me in the right direction.Your prayers have guided me through the tough times and your smiles and hugs ahve given me joy through the best times. They say it is every parent's prayer that their children grow up to be better than them. Over the years, this saying has become a point of strength and nervousness. Strength in the sense that I get excited for what the future holds because if there's a remote chance that I can be better than you as a woman, then the sky would be a starting point. On the other hand, I get nervous because it is such great shoes to fill and there is a lot of work ahead. I have literally learnt some of the most important life lessons from you, and for that, I am eternally grateful. You have the biggest heart out of everyone I have come across and somehow, over the years, it seems to be getting bigger. I remember our early days in Jos, in the small house, Wase Close. Although the house was small structurally, it never felt small inside. I soon realised it could only be attributed to your large heart.Your calmness, your poise, your humility and your determination in life, all makes it an honour and joy learning from you. But most important is your love for God; through the years I have always called you to pray for all situations whether it was for me or a friend. You are indeed an evidence of God's love for me and the entire family. It is no coincidence that He gave us to you to groom and train; I honestly consider you God's gift to me. I love you from the bottom of my heart and I only pray that I turn out to be all and more than you expect. As you turn 50, I pray for God's continuous guidance and protection. I pray that on this day, He can truly show you how much you mean to me, the family as a whole, and all your well-wishers. Lots of love Emoji Ucy Rochas

“YOU CAN DO IT At 8 years old, like most of my pairs, getting ready for school was definitely not the highlight of my day. I did not love to read or study, all my ears would hear is the sound of the bell indicating break time. Due to this, I was definitely not amongst the top students academically. I was just an average student. Ironically, the only thing I dreaded more than going to school was the end of semester because it was result day.The fear of failing and disappointing my parents would always build up. But at showing my mum my very average result she would put it aside first give me a hug and congratulate me.Then no matter the result she would look at me and sayYOU ARE SMARTER,YOU ARE BETTER,YOU CAN DO IT. This became a ringtone whenever I fell short. As I progressed with my education I began to do better and better, having her words of inspiration constant in my ear. From my second term in SS1 till I graduated I was always the 1st position in my set. I graduated as the most outstanding student and all that came to my mind were the wordsYOU ARE SMARTER, BETTER,YOU CAN DO IT. Today, I have two bachelors of science in Mechanical Engineering and Mathematics and a minor in Economics. I know I still have more in me to achieve, records to break and lives to touch but I know I CAN DO IT. My mother, My mother, on this day I thank God for giving us a gift like you. I wondered how best to tell you happy birthday and all I could think of was talking about me because 99.9% of my success today is you.The bible says, by their fruits you shall know them, I am mostly what the tree, you, have groomed me to be. MUM, you are the smartest, you are the best, you did it and I know you will do more. I LOVEYOU. Amen Rochas 17 seventeen

Hi Mummy, In typing out these words to you, I began to think of the million ways you have impacted my life and I went on to wonder if you knew how much you meant to me because you deserve every second and fraction of love in my heart. I am truly happy that the almighty God has brought you to a landmark in your life (your 50th Birthday) and that I am able to share this great moment with you. In writing this letter, I sought to tackle one of the most confusing questions I have ever been asked in my years from childhood to an engineering physics major in college. This particular question is so confusing yet short in length. It has so many answers to which I could give. The question is as put: "Describe your mother in one word”.This for many years has been the toughest question until I found the answer today, on your special day. I would describe you as “My love”, I got this answer from the greatest book (the Bible) and I personalized it. I took an excerpt from 1st Corinthians 13:4-8. My love is patient towards me, My love is kind to me, My love is not easily angered by me, My love rejoices with me in truth, My love always protects me, My love always trusts me, My love always hopes the best for me, My love always perseveres for me, My love does not envy me, instead she wants me to be better than she ever was, My love never fails me in any situation of life. Mummy, today there are so many things I want to say to you but please pardon me as I summarize and say, I love you with all my heart, as you have been my idol, my inspiration to keep tackling life, my help, and most importantly my love. Happy Birthday and may the good Lord continue to bless and keep you. Your son, Amamchinefe Akataka Rochas th

ATRIBUTETO MY MOTHER-IN-LAW ON HER 50 BIRTHDAY They say age is just a number, but to my mother-in-law age 50 represents 50 years of an amazing life on earth filled with joy, good health and abundant love from an amazing husband and six wonderful children. As far as I am concerned, as blessings go, there's none better than that of a loving and understanding mother-in-law. She not only took me in as one of her sons but equated the same love and care as to her biological child. I indeed won the best Mother-in-law Jackpot! She remains a constant source of advice and support. As an astute business woman and philanthropist mum still goes about her life with minimum fuss despite the societal pressure and responsibilities attached to the office of the wife of an executive governor of a state. Her humility and leadership abilities endeared her to her peers and I was not surprised when she was elected the chairperson of Southern Governors wives' forum. During her most recent academic sojourn, I watched with fascination her impeccable attention to detail, a feat she applies in all other daily activities. She gets thing done timely and efficiently! Today she has a PhD and I am without doubt she is in pursuit of more academic accolades. I cannot go without acknowledging the challenges she faced early in life as a young teenage lady married to the love of her life, a man with large dreams and aspirations but without the deep pockets to finance such dreams. She stood by him and supported him every step of the way. A feat rarely seen in young women of today. I doff my hat to her doggedness and patience and I am glad her beautiful daughters inherited this amazing attribute and much more from their mum. Every day, I am thankful for knowing such an amazing amazon of a lady, she has always been there for my family and I and will always remain an inspiration. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUM! Lots of Love.
