AGÜ Değerleri / AGU Values Öğrencilerinin akademik gelişimlerinin yanısıra sosyal, entelektüel ve kültürel gelişimini de önemseyen AGÜ, bir dünya vatandaşı yaratma hedefiyle öğrencilerinin kişisel, duygusal, sosyal ve profesyonel olarak gelişimlerine de katkı sağlıyor.
AGU cares about the social, intellectual and cultural development of its students in addition to the academic one, thus contributes to the personal, emotional, social, and professional development of its students with the goal of nurturing world citizens.

Deutsche Bahn İle İş Birliği /
Partnership with Deutsche Bahn
AGÜ öğrencilerinin Deutsche Bahn firmasında staj yapabileceği anlaşma kapsamında, ortaklaşa uluslararası proje ve etkinlikler gerçekleştirilecek, ortak Ar-Ge çalışmaları ve araştırma projeleri ile seminer ve dersler de düzenlenebilecek. Üniversite-sanayi iş birliği konusunda aktif çalışmalar yürüten AGÜ’nün yaptığı bu anlaşma ile aynı zamanda, Kayseri ulaşımı için Ar-Ge faaliyetleri yapılması da düşünülüyor. Deutsche Bahn firması yöneticilerinin, önümüzdeki aylarda AGÜ’ye ve Kayseri’ye yapacakları ziyarette de çeşitli iş birliği alanları belirlenecek.
Almanya’da, dünyanın en büyük ulaştırma ve lojistik firması, Avrupa’nın ise en büyük demiryolu işletmecisi olan Deutsche Bahn (Alman Demiryolları) ile iş birliği anlaşması imzalandı. Anlaşmayla, AGÜ öğrencileri Almanya’da Deutsche Bahn firmasında staj yapabilecek. Anlaşma Berlin’de, Rektör Prof. Dr. İhsan Sabuncuoğlu ile Deutsche Bahn’ın üst düzey yöneticileri Andreas Wegerif, Vincent van Houten ve Olena Tsymbal’ın katıldığı toplantıda imzalandı.

A partnership agreement was signed with Deutsche Bahn, the largest transport and logistics company in the world and the leading railway operator in Europe. Thanks to the agreement, AGU students will be able to do internships at Deutsche Bahn in Germany. The agreement was signed by Rector Prof. İhsan Sabuncuoğlu and senior managers Andreas Wegerif, Vincent van Houten, and Olena Tsymbal from Deutsche Bahn in Berlin. Besides internship opportunities, the agreement sets the stage for joint organization of international projects and events and implementation of joint R&D work, research projects, seminar and courses. Actively working for the university-industry cooperation, AGU also aims at carrying out R&D activities for Kayseri transportation within this agreement. During the visit of Deutsche Bahn managers to AGU, Kayseri in the following months, various cooperation areas will be determined.
Career Talks
Kariyer Merkezi tarafından düzenlenen Kariyer Sohbetleri etkinlikleri kapsamında, yüz tanıma teknolojisi alanında faaliyet gösteren teknoloji firması Ayonix’in kurucusu, akademisyen ve iş adamı Doç. Dr. Sadi Vural, “Dünyanın Tanıdığı Bir Mühendis Olmak” konulu konferans verdi.
Within the Career Talks series, organized by the Career and Employability Office, Assoc. Prof. Sadi Vural, founder of Ayonix, a technology firm developing face recognition products, an academic, and businessman, gave a seminar on “Being a World-Renowned Engineer.”
Doç. Dr. Vural, Microsoft ve Apple gibi dijital dünya devleriyle rekabet etmenin yollarını ve sektörü takip eden değil yönlendiren bir mühendis olma konusunda tecrübelerini öğrencilerle paylaştı.
Assoc. Prof. Vural shared his experience with students on competing with giants of the digital world such as Microsoft and Apple and becoming an engineer guiding the world rather than following certain sectors.
Toshiba ve Sony gibi şirketlerle birlikte çalışmalar gerçekleştiren ayrıca ABD ve G20 ülkelerinin istihbarat servisleri için yüz tanıma teknolojileri tasarlayan bir bilim insanı olan Doç. Dr. Vural, konferansta öğrencilerin sorularını da yanıtladı.
As a scientist working with Toshiba and Sony, developing face recognition products for intelligence services of the USA and G20 countries, Assoc. Prof. Vural also answered students’ questions at the seminar.
Corona Virüsü ve Korunma Yolları Coronavirus and How to Protect Yourself Son Corona virüs salgını haberi dünyanın çok ciddi olarak endişe duymasına yol açtı ve küresel anlamda bir aksiyon alınması hususunda Dünya Sağlık Örgütü bir dizi kararlar aldı ve internet sitesinde de bu konuda bilgi ve veriler paylaşmaya devam ediyor. Bilimsel çalışmalar 2019-nCoV virüsünün insan kaynaklı bir virüs olmadığını, insandan önce yarasa veya değişik canlılarda değişimlere ve rekombinasyonlara uğradıktan sonra insanı enfekte ettiğini desteklemektedir. Her ne kadar kültürel olarak bizde tüketilmiyorsa da bu dönemde işlenmeden tüketilen suşi, midye ve hayvansal gıdalardan uzak durmak da önemli bir korunma olacaktır. Tüm bunlara rağmen bir enfeksiyon şüphesi (öksürük, ateş, burun akması vb.) duyuluyorsa kesin teşhis için mutlaka doktora gidilmeli, kendi kendine tedavi uygulanmamalıdır. Scientific studies support that the 2019-nCoV is not a man-made virus, it has infected humans after undergoing changes or recombination in bats or other living things. Although they are not culturally consumed in our society, another important measure is to stay away from raw food, be it sushi, mussels, or animal source foods in this period. Nevertheless, if you suspect an infection (due to cough, fever, runny nose, etc.), see a doctor for diagnosis and avoid self-treatment. Öğrencinin gelişimi ve kendine kattığı değerler açısından öğrenim gördüğü şehir oldukça önemli bir unsur. Aynı zamanda üniversite yılları kişinin kendi ayakları üzerinde durmak üstüne yoğunlaştığı ve yeni çevreler, arkadaşlıklar, dostluklar geliştirdiği yıllardır. Şüphesiz ki bu yıllar yaşamın en değerli zamanlarından. Bu sebeplerden ötürü, üniversite yıllarınızı geçirdiğiniz şehir, kişisel gelişim ve edinilecek sayısız deneyimler açısından oldukça değerli. The city where a student is studying is very important in terms of self-improvement and values one gains. At the same time, university years are when one concentrates on standing on one’s own two feet and making new circles of acquaintances and friends. Undoubtedly, these years are one of the most precious times in one’s life. For these reasons, the city where you spend your university years is very valuable in terms of personal development and countless experiences to be gained. Kayseri is a quiet city with a developed public transport system considering its population, unlike other metropolitan cities. It is also an advantage that the city is economical, especially for students compared to the big ones. If you stay at the AGU student village, you are already within walking distance to the university. in Business
Mimarlık’tan Mezun Oldu, Kuveyt’te Çalışmaya Başladı Graduated from Architecture, Got a Job in Kuwait Mimarlık bölümünün ilk mezunlarından Hülya Düzbiçer, inşaat sektöründe uluslararası faaliyet gösteren Limak İnşaat’ın Kuveyt’teki şantiyesinde iş hayatına başladı.
Hülya Düzbiçer is one of the first graduates of the Architecture program and has been employed by Limak Construction to work in Kuwait, at one of the company’s international construction sites.
Kuveyt Uluslararası Havalimanı şantiyesinde mimar olarak çalışan Hülya Düzbiçer, 10 farklı ülkeden insanla bir arada çalıştığını ve AGÜ’de eğindiği İngilizce eğitim sayesinde iletişim kurmakta zorlanmadığını belirtti.
As an architect at the construction site of the Kuwait International Airport, Hülya Düzbiçer said, she worked with people from 10 different countries, and thanks to the English-medium education at AGU, she did not find it hard to communicate with them.
AGÜ mezunu olmanın ufkunu açtığını ve ön yargılarını kırdığını belirten Düzbiçer, edindiği dil eğitiminin ve yurtdışı tecrübelerinin kendisine faydasını ise şöyle anlattı:
She stated that graduating from AGU opened up her horizon and broke down her prejudices. About the advantages of the language education and overseas experience, Düzbiçer said:
“Bu soru en beklediğim soruydu çünkü açıkça söylemek gerekirse AGÜ’nün bana en büyük faydası iyi bir dil eğitimi vermesi oldu ve gerçekten bu konuda özgüvenimi geliştirmemde çok fayda sağladı. CV’me de yurt dışında yaptığım projeleri eklemiştim zaten. İş yaşamıma gelecek olursak şu an ofisimde bir Kuveytli ve bir Hintli arkadaşla beraber çalışıyorum, Türkçe bilmiyorlar dolayısıyla iletişimimi AGÜ’nün verdiği eğitim sayesinde yapıyorum. Farklı ülkelerden yabancı firmalarla bazı toplantılara da katılıyorum, dolayısıyla dil bazen teknik bilgiden bile önemli olabiliyor.”
“I was expecting this question, because frankly what I benefited most at AGU was the good language education and it helped boost my self-confidence. I also added the projects I did abroad to my CV. Right now, I share my office with two coworkers, one from Kuwait and another from India. As they cannot speak Turkish, I can communicate with them thanks to my education at AGU. I sometimes attend meetings with foreign companies from various countries and see that sometimes a good command of the language might be more important than technical knowledge.”

Hülya Düzbiçer also highlighted the significance of teamwork in business life and gave the following advice to future graduates:
“Daha önce söylerlerdi de inanmazdım ama öğrencilik ve iş dünyası çok farklıymış gerçekten, öncelikle öğrenciliklerinin tadını çıkarsınlar diye başlayayım söze. Kendilerini geliştirmeye başlasınlar, bireysel düşünmesinler, iş dünyası tamamen ekip işi dolayısıyla insanlarla olan ilişkilerini iyi tutsunlar, grup çalışmalarına önem verip etkin rol üstlensinler.”
“I did not use to believe that university and business world were very different when people pointed it out, yet they are really different, and firstly I must say that students should enjoy being students. Then they should improve themselves, stop thinking in terms of individualism as the business world is all about teamwork, thus they should have good relations with other people, give weight to teamwork and play active roles.”
