AGÜ Gençlik Fabrikası tarafından, SALTO-Youth Euromed Kaynak Merkezi, Avrupa Birliği Bakanlığı, Türkiye, Fransa ve İtalya Ulusal Ajansları ortaklığıyla düzenlenen Uluslararası Gençlik İstihdamı Sorunları Sempozyumu’nun bu yıl üçüncüsü gerçekleştirildi.

Dört kıtadan, 37 ülkeden, alanında uzman 200’den fazla davetlinin katıldığı sempozyum İstiklal Marşı ve Saygı Duruşu ile başladı. Sempozyumun açılışında konuşan Rektör Prof. Dr. İhsan Sabuncuoğlu, üniversiteler ve sanayi arasında çok büyük bir boşluk olduğunu, eğitim kurumlarının çoğunun toplumun ihtiyacına cevap vermekte başarısız olduğunu söyledi.
Highlighting the need for new approaches, Prof. Sabuncuoğlu added: “That’s the reason we are talking about the new generation and third generation universities.” Sabuncuoğlu also stressing, AGU is the pioneer of the new generation universities.
Yeni yaklaşımlara ihtiyaç olduğunu belirten Prof. Dr. Sabuncuoğlu, bu yüzden yeni nesil ve üçüncü nesil üniversitelerden bahsetmekte olduklarını ifade etti. Sabuncuoğlu, AGÜ’nün bu yeni nesil üniversitelerin öncüsü olduğunu vurguladı. SALTO-Youth Euromed Kaynak Merkezi Başkanı ve Fransa Ulusal Ajansı Başkan Vekili Bernard Abrignani’de konuşmasında, sempozyumda kendilerinden gençlerin geleceği için çalışmalarının beklendiğini belirtti. Ulusal Ajans Başkanı Mesut Kamiloğlu da konuşmasında, 2008 yılındaki küresel ekonomik krizden 10 yıl sonra bile gençlerin işsizlik sorununun, Avrupa ülkelerinde bile hala en önemli sorunlardan birisi olduğunu söyledi. Gençlik Fabrikası Koordinatörü Zeynep Tuğçe Çiftçibaşı Güç moderatörlüğündeki sempozyumda çeşitli ülkelerden gelen konuşmacılar, dünya genelindeki gençliğin istihdam sorunu ve çözüm önerileri ile ilgili sunumlar yaptı. The International Symposium on Youth Employment Challenges was organized jointly for the third time by the AGU Youth Factory, the SALTO-Youth EuroMed, the Ministry of European Union Affairs and the Turkish, French and Italian National Agencies. The symposium attracted more than 200 experts in their respective areas, from 37 countries and four continents and started
Mr. Bernard Abrignani, Coordinator of SALTO-Youth Euromed and Deputy Director of the French Erasmus+ National Agency, said in his speech that at the symposium they are expected to work for the future of the youth. Mesut Kamiloğlu, Head of the Turkish National Agency, also spoke at the symposium and said the unemployment of youth is a critical issue even in the European countries the 10 years since the 2008 global economic crisis. The symposium continued under the moderation of Zeynep Tuğçe Çiftçibaşı Güç, AGU Youth Factory Coordinator, with speakers coming from different countries presenting youth employment challenges around the world and their solution proposals.
EURIE-2018 Yükseköğretim Zirvesi / EURIE-2018 Higher Education Summit
Rektör Prof. Dr. İhsan Sabuncuoğlu, İstanbul’da düzenlenen dünyanın en büyük üçüncü eğitim zirvesi olan Avrasya Uluslararası Yükseköğretim Zirvesi’ne (Eurasian Higher Education Summit EURIE) konuşmacı olarak katıldı. Rector Prof. İhsan Sabuncuoğlu attended the EURIE - Eurasian Higher Education Summit, the third biggest education summit of the world held in Istanbul, as a speaker. Zirveye 70’den fazla ülkeden 2 bin 500’ün üzerinde rektör, rektör yardımcısı, akademisyen ve uluslararası eğitim sektöründen uzman katıldı. 112 konuşmacının katılacağı zirvede, 42 panel ve seminer gerçekleştirildi. Zirvede ayrıca, Türkiye’den 300’e yakın devlet ve vakıf üniversitesi ile çok sayıda ülkenin stantları yer aldı. AGÜ’nün standının da yer aldığı zirveye konuşmacı olarak katılan Rektör Prof. Dr. İhsan Sabuncuoğlu, “Yeni Nesil Üniversiteler ve AGÜ Modeli” konulu sunum yaparak, AGÜ’nün eğitim, araştırma ve toplumsal fayda misyonlarını anlattı. Zirveye AGÜ’den Uluslararası Ofis Direktörü Emeric Abrignani ile Gençlik Fabrikası Koordinatörü Zeynep Tuğçe Çiftçibaşı Güç de katıldı. Over 2,500 people from more than 70 countries composed of rectors, vice rectors, academics and specialists of the international education sector joined the summit. 112 speakers appeared in 42 panels and seminars within the summit. Moreover, around 300 Turkish state and private foundation universities set up booths for the summit next to booths from Russia, China, USA, UK, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Iran, Iraq, Malaysia, Spain, Germany, France and TRNC. AGU also had a booth at the summit where Rector Prof. Sabuncuoğlu presented “New Generation Universities and the AGU Model” and discussed AGU’s missions of education, research and social impact. Participants at the summit were Emeric Abrignani, International Office Head, and Zeynep Tuğçe Çiftçibaşı Güç, AGU Youth Factory Coordinator.

AGU Talks Series
AGÜ Gençlik Fabrikası tarafından düzenlenen kültür, sanat, spor, eğitim ve iş dünyasının önde gelen isimlerini öğrencilerle buluşturmayı hedefleyen “AGÜ Talks” söyleşileri devam ediyor. AGÜ Talks söyleşilerine bu kez İTÜ Rektörü Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karaca konuşmacı olarak katıldı.
Dr. Karaca, “Bu işler artık küresel. Türkiye olarak yerel hareket etmemiz lazım ama yerelde de kalmayıp, küresel aktörlerle birlikte hareket etmemiz gerek” dedi. Söyleşinin sonunda Prof. Dr. Karaca’ya, kendi adına dikilen 3 fidanın, Fidan Bağış Sertifikası verildi. Karaca’ya sertifikasını Rektör Prof. Dr. İhsan Sabuncuoğlu verdi.
Rektör Prof. Dr. Karaca söyleşide, “Küresel ve Bölgesel İklim Değişikliği Ekseninde Türkiye” konulu sunum yaptı. İklim değişikliği ve küresel ısınmanın, dünya ile Türkiye üzerindeki etkilerini anlatan Prof. Dr. Karaca, sıcaklık artışı ve kentleşme konularına da değindi.
Organized by the AGU Youth Factory and aimed at bringing together leading figures from culture, arts, sports, education and business with students, the “AGU Talks” seminar series continues. ITU Rector Prof. Mehmet Karaca was the guest of the latest edition of the AGU Talks.
Bu konularda uluslararası çalışmalarda Türkiye’nin de yerelde kalmayıp küresel bir aktör olması gerektiğini belirten Prof.
Rector Prof. Karaca presented “Turkey on the Axis of Global and Regional Climate Change” for the talk. Prof. Karaca discussed the effects of climate change and global warming on the world and Turkey and touched upon temperature rise and urbanization as well. Prof. Karaca stated, Turkey should look not only at local concerns but also at international ones. He added, “Things are global now. Turkey has act locally, for sure, but we also need to go beyond the local and act with the global players.” At the end of the talk, Prof. Karaca was presented a Sapling Donation Certificate for three saplings planted in his name. Karaca received his certificate from Rector Prof. İhsan Sabuncuoğlu.
III. Yaşam Bilimleri Kongresi III Life Sciences Congress
Yaşam ve Doğa Bilimleri Fakültesi’nin ev sahipliğinde bu yıl 3. düzenlenen Yaşam Bilimleri Kongresi’ne Türkiye genelinden 42 üniversiteden çok sayıda bilim insanı katıldı. Kongrenin açılışında konuşan Rektör Prof. Dr. İhsan Sabuncuoğlu genetik, moleküler biyoloji ve yaşam bilimleri alanlarının, içinde bulunduğumuz çağda çok önemli olduğunu belirterek, bu alanlarda yapılan çalışmaların tıp dünyasına da ışık tuttuğunu söyledi. Rektör Yardımcısı ve Yaşam ve Doğa Bilimleri Fakültesi Kurucu Dekanı Prof. Dr. Yusuf Baran ise konuşmasında bu yılki kongreye özellikle çok genç ve Türkiye’nin parlayan yıldızlarını tercih edip konuşmacı olarak davet ettiklerini vurguladı.
Kongrede, hedefe yönelik kanser tedavisinde protein bazlı ajanlar, dermatolojide kök hücre araştırmaları ve uygulamaları, antibiyotik direnci ve sistem mikrobiyolojisi yaklaşımı gibi yaşam bilimlerinin temel konuları tartışıldı. İki günde toplam 7 oturumun gerçekleştirildiği kongre “En İyi Bilimsel Çalışma Ödül Töreni” ile sona erdi.
Hosted by the School of Life and Natural Sciences, the Life Sciences Congress was held for the 3rd time this year and attracted many scientists from 42 universities in Turkey. Rector Prof. İhsan Sabuncuoğlu delivered the opening speech of the congress and said, the fields of genetics, molecular biology and life sciences are extremely important in our age and research in those areas illuminate the medical world. Prof. Yusuf Baran, Vice Rector and Founding Dean of the Life and Natural Sciences, said they preferred and invited very young shining stars of Turkey as speakers to the new edition of the congress. At the congress, fundamental topics of life sciences, such as protein based agents in target-oriented cancer treatment, stem cell studies and practices in dermatology, antibiotics resistance and systems microbiology, were discussed. 7 sessions were held in the two-day congress and the event ended after the “Best Scientific Study Award.”
AGÜ’nün Yıldızları Ödül Töreni / Award Ceremony for AGU’s Stars Abdullah Gül Üniversitesi, YÖK’ün akademik teşvik olarak başlattığı proje kapsamında, 100 tam puan alan öğretim üyelerini, “Üstün Başarı Ödülü” ile ödüllendirdi. Törende konuşan Araştırma ve Geliştirmeden Sorumlu Rektör Yardımcısı Prof. Dr. Yusuf Baran, “Üstün Başarı” ödüllerini AGÜ’nün değerlendirme kriterlerinin yanısıra YÖK’ün ulusal anlamda uyguladığı kriterlere göre belirlediklerini söyledi. AGÜ’nün gelişme süreci devam eden bir üniversite olduğunu belirten Rektör Prof. Dr. İhsan Sabuncuoğlu da, üniversitedeki öğrenci, akademik ve idari personele birlik ve beraberlik mesajları verdi. Daha sonra, Elektrik-Elektronik Mühendisliği Öğretim Üyeleri Yrd. Doç. Dr. Kutay İçöz, Doç. Dr. Evren Mutlugün, Malzeme Bilimi ve Nanoteknoloji Öğretim Üyesi Doç. Dr. Hakan Usta, Bilgisayar Mühendisliği Bölüm Başkanı Doç. Dr. Çağrı Güngör ve Rektör Yardımcısı Prof. Dr. Yusuf Baran’a “2018 Üstün Başarı Ödülü” verildi. Abdullah Gül University awarded “Outstanding Success Award” to its faculty members who collected 100 total points within the academic incentive program of YÖK. Prof. Yusuf Baran, Vice Rector responsible for research and development, spoke at the ceremony and said “Outstanding Suc-
cess Award” holders were chosen based on AGU’s evaluation criteria in addition to YÖK’s national criteria. Rector Prof. İhsan Sabuncuoğlu stated, AGU still continues its development and called for unity and solidarity among students, academics and administrative staff of the university. Afterwards, Asst. Prof. Kutay İçöz and Assoc. Prof. Evren Mutlugün from Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Assoc. Prof. Hakan Usta from Material Science and Nanotechnology, Assoc. Prof. Çağrı Güngör, Head of Computer Engineering, and Vice Rector Prof. Yusuf Baran received their “2018 Outstanding Success Awards”.
