AGÜ’de 15 Temmuz Demokrasi Zaferi ve Şehitleri Anma Günü Düzenlendi Saygı Duruşu ve İstiklal Marşı’yla başlayan programda, darbe girişimini konu alan belgesel film gösterimi yapıldı. Rektör Prof. Dr. İhsan Sabuncuoğlu konuşmasında, bir cemaate veya gruba biat etmenin ülkemize verdiği zarara hep beraber şahit olduğumuzu, bundan önemli dersler çıkarmamız gerektiğini söyledi. Prof. Dr. Sabuncuoğlu, 15 Temmuz gecesi vatan uğruna hayatını kaybeden sivil ve devlet görevlisi vatandaşlarımıza bir kere daha Allah’tan rahmet ve acılı ailelerine sabırlar dileyerek, gazilerimize de minnet ve şükranlarını sundu.
The July 15 Democracy’s Victory and Martyrs Remembrance Day A Remembrance Day program was held for the July 15 Democracy’s Victory and Martyrs at the Conference Hall of the AGU Sümer Campus. The event began with a moment of silence and a recital of the national anthem. Then, a documentary on the July 15 coup attempt was screened. In his speech for the day, Rector Prof. İhsan Sabuncuoğlu said that we all witnessed the damage to our country and people caused by obeying a sect or group and that lessons should be taken from that experience. Prof. Sabuncuoğlu once again wished the mercy of God be on civilians and civil servants who lost their lives protecting the motherland on the night of July 15. He offered his condolences to grieving families and extended his gratitude to veterans.

ÖSYM tarafından açıklanan 2017-ÖSYS sonuçlarına göre, Abdullah Gül Üniversitesi’nin tüm bölümleri, Türkiye’nin en başarılı öğrencileri tarafından tercih edildi.
The 2017 ÖSYS (Student Selection and Placement System) results showed that the most successful students in Turkey showed a preference for programs at Abdullah Gül University (AGU).
AGÜ, devlet üniversiteleri arasında, tüm bölümleriyle en başarılı ilk 10 üniversite içinde yer aldı.
AGU ranked among the top 10 state universities in every program.
Taban puan sıralamalarına göre, Bilgisayar Mühendisliği, Elektrik-Elektronik Mühendisliği, Mimarlık, Moleküler Biyoloji ve Genetik 5’inci, İşletme 6’ıncı sırada yer alırken, İnşaat Mühendisliği 7’nci, Makine Mühendisliği 8. ve Endüstri Mühendisliği ise 10’uncu sıraya yerleşti. Türkiye’nin çeşitli bölgelerinden toplam 31 ilden gelen öğrencilerin yüzde 63’ü ilk 5 tercihinde AGÜ’ye yer verdi. Kontenjanların tamamını doldurduklarını vurgulayan Rektör Prof. Dr. İhsan Sabuncuoğlu, AGÜ’yü tercih eden öğrencilere teşekkür etti.
Based on the ranking of base points, Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Architecture, Molecular Biology and Genetics ranked 5th, Business Administration 6th, Civil Engineering 7th, Mechanical Engineering 8th and Industrial Engineering 10th. 63% of students from 31 provinces in various regions of Turkey chose AGU as one of their top 5 choices. Stressing that all quotas were filled, Rector Prof. İhsan Sabuncuoğlu thanked all students who preferred AGU.
2017 Yılı TÜBİTAK Ödülleri 2017 TUBITAK Awards
Bilgisayar Mühendisliği Bölüm Başkanı Doç. Dr. Çağrı Güngör, Mühendislik Bilimleri dalında 2017 yılı TÜBİTAK Teşvik Ödülü’ne layık görüldü. Doç. Dr. Çağrı Güngör, Mühendislik Bilimleri dalında, “Gelecek nesil haberleşme ve akıllı enerji sistemleri alanında kablosuz algılayıcı ağları ve akıllı şebekelerde haberleşme sistemleri” konularındaki uluslararası düzeyde üstün nitelikli çalışmaları nedeniyle TÜBİTAK Teşvik ödülü kazandı. TÜBİTAK tarafından Teşvik Ödülü, yaptığı çalışmalarla bilime gelecekte uluslararası düzeyde önemli katkılarda bulunabilecek niteliklere sahip olduğunu kanıtlamış bilim insanlarına veriliyor.
Assoc. Prof. Çağrı Güngör has been Awarded the 2017 TUBITAK Incentive Award in the Field of Engineering Sciences. Assoc. Prof. Çağrı Güngör received the TUBITAK Incentive Award thanks to his internationally acclaimed studies on “Wireless sensor networks for next generation communication and smart energy systems and communication systems in intelligent networks” in the field of Engineering Sciences. TUBITAK gives the Incentive Award to scientists who have proven with their studies that they have the qualities to contribute significantly to the science at an international level in the future.
Araştırma Görevlileri Buluşması / Meeting of AGU Research Assistants Öğretim Elemanı Yetiştirme Programı kapsamında çeşitli üniversitelerde lisansüstü eğitim gören Araştırma Görevlileri AGÜ’de biraraya geldi. Research Assistants who have been pursuing graduate studies at various universities within the Academic Training Program came together at AGU. Toplantı, AGÜ’ye mensup tüm araştırma görevlileri ile AGÜ’nün araştırma görevlilerinden bugüne ve geleceğe dair beklentilerini paylaşmak, araştırma görevlilerinin yaşadığı problemleri tespit etmek ve çözüm önerilerini tartışmak amacıyla düzenlendi. Rektör Prof. Dr. İhsan Sabuncuoğlu, toplantıda yaptığı konuşmasında araştırma görevlilerine AGÜ’nün misyonunu, vizyonunu ve AGÜ’deki gelişmeleri anlattı. Rektör Yardımcısı Prof. Dr. Yusuf Baran ise konuşmasında araştırma görevlilerine nitelikli akademik kadrosu ve araştırma faaliyetleri gibi konularda bilgiler verdi. Toplantıda, Tanıtım Koordinatörü Doç. Dr. Niğmet Uzal “Yeni Nesil Bir Üniversite”, Yrd. Doç. Dr. Elif Bengü de “Geleceğin Akademisyenliğine Doğru” konulu sunum yaptı. Araştırma Görevlileri daha sonra Sümer Kampüsü ve kampüs içindeki Abdullah Gül Cumhurbaşkanlığı Müze ve Kütüphanesi’ni gezdi. Both research assistants working at AGU and those currently affiliated with AGU or to be affiliated in the future gathered together for a meeting which was organized to listen to their expectations, to identify problems and to discuss possible solutions. On the one hand, Rector Prof. İhsan Sabuncuoğlu talked about the AGU mission and vision and the developments at AGU in his speech for the research assistants. Vice Rector Prof. Yusuf Baran, on the other hand, informed the research assistants about qualified academic staff and research activities in his speech. In the meeting, the Promotion Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Niğmet Uzal and Asst. Prof. Elif Bengü gave presentations entitled “A New Generation University” and “On the Way of Becoming Academics”, respectively. They visited the Sümer Campus buildings and The Abdullah Gül Presidential Museum and Library situated on the campus.
Bilgisayar Mühendisliği’nden AB Projesi EU Project by AGU Computer Engineering
Bilgisayar Mühendisliği Öğretim Üyesi Yrd. Doç. Dr. M. Şükrü Kuran’ın dahil olduğu Avrupa Birliği üyesi 8 ülkeden üniversitenin ortaklığıyla yürütülecek olan “Improving Employability through Internationalization and Collaboration” isimli eğitim ve araştırma projesi, AB ERASMUS+ koordinatörlüğü tarafından kabul edildi. Proje kapsamında yüksek lisans ve doktora programlarında eğitim gören öğrenciler yenilikçi proje tabanlı eğitim yöntemiyle farklı ülkelerden bilişim sektöründen firmalar ve akademisyenlerle ortak araştırma ve geliştirme projeleri ve tezleri yürütecek. Danimarka’dan Aalborg Üniversitesinin koordinatörlüğünde yürütülen proje ekibinde Abdullah Gül Üniversitesinin yanısıra Almanya’dan Hamburg-Harburg Teknik Üniversitesi, İspanya’dan Katalunya Politeknik Üniversitesi, Polonya’dan UTP üniversitesi, Norveç’ten Stavanger Üniversitesi, Letonya’dan Riga Teknik Üniversitesi ve Hollanda’dan Saxion Uygulamalı Bilimler Üniversitesi bulunuyor. The research and development project entitled, “Improving Employability through Internationalization and Collaboration” has been approved by the EU ERASMUS+ Program. It will be implemented by 8 European Union member countries and it also includes Asst. Prof. M. Şükrü Kuran from Computer Engineering at AGU. Within the project, students of master’s and doctoral degrees will carry out joint research and development projects and work on theses together with firms and academics that are from different countries. Students will gain experience in digital technology through an innovative project-based education method. Under the coordination of Aalborg University in Denmark, the project team is composed of Abdullah Gül University, Hamburg-Harburg Technical University (Germany), Polytechnic University of Catalonia (Spain), UTP University of Science and Technology (Poland), University of Stavanger (Norway), Riga Technical University (Latvia) and Saxion University of Applied Sciences (The Netherlands).

Bilgisayar Mühendisliği öğrencileri, mobil uygulama geliştiriyor. Computer Engineering students are developing mobile applications. Bilgisayar Mühendisliği öğrencilerine, diğer tüm üniversitelerden farklı olarak, daha ikinci sınıfta iken “Mobil Programlama” dersi veriliyor. Ders kapsamında akıllı telefon, tablet ve giyilebilir elektronik cihazlar için uygulama geliştirmeyi öğrenen öğrenciler, 14 haftalık bir eğitim sonunda mobil teknolojiler konusunda tecrübe kazanıyor. Böylece öğrenciler, ikinci sınıfta yaz stajlarında çeşitli sektörlerin ihtiyacını karşılayan mobil uygulamalar geliştiriyor. Bilgisayar Mühendisliği Öğretim Üyesi Yrd. Doç. Dr. Şükrü Kuran, günümüzde yazılım sektöründe en çok rağbet gören alanlardan birinin mobil uygulama alanı olduğunu söyledi. Bu nedenle öğrencilere diğer üniversitelerden farklı olarak “Mobil Programlama” dersi verdiklerini belirtti. Computer Engineering students are offered a “Mobile Programming” course in their second year, which is different from all other universities. In the course, students learn how to develop applications for smart phones, tablets and wearable electronic devices and they gain experience in mobile technologies by the end of the 14-week course. Thus, students develop mobile apps needed by many sectors during summer internships after their second year. Asst. Prof. Şükrü Kuran from Computer Engineering said that mobile application development was on high demand in programming at present. For that reason, students are offered the “Mobile Programming” course, stated Asst. Prof. Kuran.
AGÜ, TOEFL Merkezi Oldu / AGU Became a TOEFL Test Center
Dünyanın pek çok merkezinde düzenlenen TOEFL sınavları, artık AGÜ’de de yapılacak. TOEFL, which takes place at many sites around the world, will now also be administered at AGU. Abdullah Gül Üniversitesi, dünya genelinde İngilizce eğitim veren kolej ve üniversiteler tarafından lisans, yüksek lisans ve doktora programlarına ana dili İngilizce olmayan öğrencileri kabul kriteri olarak kullanılan TOEFL (Test Of English As a Foreign Language) sınavlarının yapıldığı merkezler arasına kabul edildi. Üniversitenin uluslararasılaşma stratejisini yürüten ve üniversiteye yabancı öğrencilerin kazandırılmasını planlayan Uluslararası Ofis ile üniversitenin var olan bilgi ve tecrübe birikimini toplumun tüm kesimlerine ulaştırmak ve artı değer üretmek için faaliyet gösteren AGÜ Akademi’nin girişimleri ile TOEFL sınavının yapıldığı merkezler arasında yer alan AGÜ, Ankara’nın doğusunda TOEFL sınavlarının yapılabildiği iki devlet üniversitesinden biri oldu. ÖSYM’nin, Yabancı Dil Sınavlarının Eşdeğerliklerini Belirleme Yönergesi ‘ne göre sınav Türkiye’de yapılıyorsa, sadece devlet üniversitelerine ait binalarda yapılması şartı aranıyor. Abdullah Gül University has been certified as a test administration site for TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), which is valid as an admission criterion for undergraduate, masters and doctoral programs of English-medium colleges and universities worldwide for students whose mother tongue is not English. Thanks to the initiatives of the International Office, carrying out the international strategy of the university and planning how to attract new foreign students to it, and the AGU Academy, working to channel the current accumulation of knowledge and experience to all levels of society to produce added value, AGU has become a TOEFL test administration site and one of only two universities certified to administer the TOEFL test East of Ankara. Pursuant to the Directive on Determination of Equivalences of Foreign Language Exams of the ÖSYM (Student Selection and Placement Center), if the test is administered in Turkey, it can only be administered in state university buildings.

Moleküler Biyoloji ve Genetik Bölümü Araştırma Görevlisi Yağmur Kiraz, TÜBİTAK’ın doktora öğrencileri için açtığı 2214-A Yurt Dışı Araştırma Burs Programı’ndan ABD, New York, Stony Brook Üniversitesi’nde 1 yıllık araştırma yapmak için burs kazandı. Öğretim Üyeleri Prof. Dr. Murat Durandurdu, Doç. Dr. Evren Mutlugün ve Yrd. Doç. Dr. Erkin Aydın’a TÜBİTAK’ın 1001-Bilimsel ve Teknolojik Araştırma Projelerini Destekleme Programı kapsamında destek verildi. The 1001 - Funding Programme for the Scientific and Technological Research Projects of TÜBİTAK support was awarded to faculty members Prof. Murat Durandurdu, Assoc. Prof. Evren Mutlugün and Asst.
