Although EASA 013 is not over, we sometimes feel the need to wonder about the future. After everything is done here and the town goes back to its normal state, easa activities won’t go into hibernation until next year. A reduced crowed of people are going to gather up again in 2 months in Bucharest for the INCM where they will meet, consult and discuss the direction in which the future easa’s themes and workshop will head up. Last year in Vienna the Bulgarians managed to win the bidding with their “symbiosis” theme, bringing easa’s 34th edition home for the first time. They will try to experiment with different forms of architecture that enrich and develop together rather than destroy each other.

Next year’s assembly site is called Veliko Tarnovo. Located in the northcentral part of the country, it’s a city full of interesting spots that the organizers found perfect for all sort of interventions. Also the fact that is one of the oldest settlements and that is has so much culture and rich history, being the first Bulgarian capital, makes it perfect for the chosen theme of the next year. For 14 days, beginning 27th of July, workshops and debates will be held and 500 students will occupy the city with their ideas, interventions and experiments. More on the subject and what to expect from organizers will be presented tonight in the castle by the Bulgarian team. So don’t miss it!

REVIEW REKUKIVATE
WHAT MAKES THIS CITY MAKE ME THINK YOURS?
Umbrella isn’t too sure what to expect from Rekukivate at the final presentation but you should certainly expect something different.

While Easians are catching their 30 minute morning sleep, the Rekukivate team are starting their day. The morning is still cool and a thin mist hangs over the hills surrounding Žužemberk as a line of girls (and sometimes tutor Patrick) jog down the winding road away from the school. After a while they divert from the road into a small clearing by the river. Surrounded by trees, and a wooden swinging bed (looks like the perfect napping spot) the group form a circle and start their morning exercises, followed by a dip in the cold water. Its a wonderfully refreshing start to your morning, and if you do manage to catch more than forty winks Umbrella reccomends you join them once in while. But Rekukivate isn’t just about a morning jog, they are exploring architecture through the movement of their body. Using the discipline of Somaesthetics the group are learning afresh how to connect their body and mind, and forget their inbuilt impressions of how to experience the spaces around them. This is all taking place through a series of exercises, such as a 5 hour session in which they explored each layer of their own and eachother’s bodies. Yesterday this Umbrella reporter joined them for a while, as they tried to experience the space without the use of sight. It really is an odd sight to see a group of people crawling around and over eachother. Later, they brought the exercise to the woods, to experience a space without limits.
T he work shop ca l led M a ke me think Ludwig Wittgenstein is shrouded in a mystery, because almost nobody knows what tutors Manos and Myrsiny from Greece have been doing with their participants in the castle over the last week. Actually this workshop looks pretty interesting. Even though the explanation is more philosophical, they were firstly building a reconstruction of an art installation. Via this construction they try to transfer the philosophical and mental impact of an art installation to functional space and define all kinds of reaction. Each workshop could share their experience from this space with them (some of them already did it). The participants are reading some philosophical articles and spend their time discussing them. That is what makes them think like the philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein. The tutors take advantage of the different backgrounds, knowledge and culture of their participants to create a universal way of designing. They tell us it is going pretty well.
This workshop is probably one of the most integrated in Žužemberk’s everyday life. The 5 participants are intending to make a navigation system of the town based on their own emotional experiences in Žužemberk. Personal approach is crucial here, and that’s why we’ll discover four different ways to explore the city. The final output is being kept a secret, but we can say for sure that there’s gonna be a map exhibition, with the maps of all possible kinds and themes. There is one map, made for locals mainly, to indicate where easa workshops and other events are located. Another map is based on stories and narratives, accurately collected and pictured. There’s also a sort of abstract diagram-drift map, filled with notes and observations, made while walking aimlessly through town and talking to people. And of course the overview of the whole city is to be made. In general, the main goal is to make EASA useful for local people and to participate in development of Žužemberk people. PICKING UP WHERE WE LEFT OFF OTHER SHIT PEOPLE DO
On Sunday night the cold and the exhaustion after national evening gave the participants the chance to take a well-deserved break from the official partying. But then again last night the party schedule came back to normal: each night bringing with it a smashing party accompanied by the good music and good spirits. The night took off with the second episode of easa TV after which followed last night’s special: a towel fashion show in which miss and mister easa were supposed to be crowned. The task was to
do a catwalk wearing a towel in a most creative way, and how better to walk around highlighting a towel than bare naked. So there were a lot of nice bodies being shown off last night in the cheering of the crowd. In the end everyone present got a towel and not even the chilliness from last night managed to ruin a beach party and stop people from crazy dancing. The fact that the party had to be ended at 3 o clock did not mean the participants would go to bed but rather to find other places to continue the celebration until dawn.

TAKE HOME A LITTLE BIT OF TAPAL AND
Have you been waiting eagerly for the daily Tapaland offerings like Umbrella has? Well now you too can make them at home. Umbrella has collected some more recipies from some of the latest tasty bites. We’ll cover the rest in the next issue...
Spanish gazpacho
Cut everything. Fill a 2 liter container with tomatoes, add everything. Blend. Feel free to adjust the recipe and put more of the ingredients you fancy the most.
Hungarian lecso You’ll need: Tomatoes ½ green paprika 1 garlic clove ½ large onion Cucumber Salt Olive oil Vinegar
You’ll need: Eggs Tomatoes White onions Yellow peppers Chili Paprika powder Garlic Bread Olive oil Cut the tomatoes, onions, peppers, chili and garlic in to pieces. Sauté them with paprika powder and any other seasoning you fancy. Add eggs to the mix and cook for a few minutes. Fry the bread with some oil. Assemble the dish and as a final touch add a pile of yoghurt on top.

Swedish potato patties
Meatballs from Cyprus
You’ll need: Potatoes
You’ll need: Minced meat Potatoes Onions Garlic Cinnamon Perslie Dried mint Salt Pepper Eggs Bread crums Baking powder
Cut the potatoes approximately the same size. Deep fry them twice, first in 120 degrees for about 5 minutes to cook them and then in 180 degrees for about 5 minutes as well to make them crispy and golden brown. To make the mayonnaise mix the egg yolks, pepper, salt and mustard. Add the oil slowly, mixing it constantly. Add lemon juice and mix.
Yoghurt Oregano Olive oil
Grate the potatoes, onions and garlic. Mix everything except the baking powder. Leave the mixture in a fridge for an hour. Add the baking powder and roll the mixture in to small balls. Put the balls in to a fridge for an hour again. Deep fry the balls till they’re dark brown and cooked trough out. To make the sauce, mix oregano and olive oil with yoghurt.
BAR PRICES AND DEPOSIT As most of you have probably noticed, it now takes more tokens to get yourself in the party mood. The prices at the bar have increased because they were losing money and they just went from ridiculously cheap to cheap, really. And to be honest, maybe we all could cope with a drink or two less than what we’ve been enjoying recently. There are also a lot of rumours going around about the deposit. The story behind them is that some of the speakers broke down during national evening because people were having so much fun, and now they need to be fixed. There’s no need to point fingers at anyone and nothing has been decided yet so just hold on. Umbrella will report as soon as we have some facts instead of rumours.

EASTERN LAB INCM
Not only the Bulgarian are presenting tonight but also the Romanians have something to show, as they are hosting the next INCM. These letters stand up for Intermediate National Contacts Meeting, which means the each country will send people to meet, consult and make decisions. Romania has come up with a different and new approach this year, combining the decision making stuff with a series of discussions and analysis on the “eastern lab” subject. This theme about observing the east European urban chaos resulted
in the simultaneous existence of different layers of traditions, history and foreign inf luences and Bucharest is a good example to experience that. So for 10 days begging the 3rd week of October around 120 people will gather in Romania to organize and decide on the next easa that you will all be waiting for. ….Happening also in Bucharest is the bidding for easa015, so if you’ve heard any rumors on the bidding teams place share it with us as this will be the big buzz in the days to follow….
Hello my dear EASAians. Last night was a great success, if you are desperate for some attention. Go on stage and take of your clothes, just the thing to help you out with if you have problems getting people to notice you.. The organizers add to their arsenal of awkwardness with a towel fashionshow for the desperate and needy. At least Gossip Girl really likes Mr. EASA this year, hot! Congratulations. Sponsors are probably proud. Oh by the way, the couple getting busy in the shadows by the castle moat, everybody can see you, and we did.. In other news the gay guys are totally gay this year. Gossip Girl has hardly seen any gay action up until now, not compared to earlier years. Maybe we need some green pillows to get this festival startet properly. Maybe the Sangria tonight can get things going again, because the manlove hasn’t really been that visible in Zuzemberk. But be careful, Gossip Girl is watching.. Especially And who am I?
