THE LOVEBOX UNFOLDED... HOLD THE PRESSES! tisgruzdys.com

THE NATIONAL FEVER

Word has come to Umbrella that the strange caravan behind the tents is not the infamous Lovebox. Rather, it is owned by the circus people that set up the sleeping tents. For your own safety, don’t go too near, for you might be caught redhanded and transported off to the continent to travel around eastern Europe dressed as a circus bear.

… it has arrived. Yesterday we had the first stroke of the National Evening series, so today is just a little bit more miserable for all of us, and it’s our fault of course – nobody forced you to have the last schnapps, ah?

So where is the f’king Lovebox, ha?

The Poles served the amazing Zubrowka with some meat snacks, the Hungarians forced everyone to eat spicy paprika and drink a palinka which certainly didn’t wash off the spice, but the strongest were awarded with some paprika earrings… Lovely! The French awarded people with stickers talking about French Kiss and served an ouzo-smelling yellow drink… Something tasty. Liechtenstein schnapps was amazing as well, but the Swiss served way too much absinth…

QUOTE OF THE DAY The advice of an Irish nurse for a sick participant from Norway: “Just have a glass of whiskey”.

BREAKING NEWS: YES. YOU CAN DRINK THE YELLOW WATER!

The best performance of the night was definitely held by the Danes, who, after declaring earlier yesterday that they now own Ireland, built a massive ship. And took some axes. And put some horns in. And took over the Events tent, which had been previously occupied by other Scandinavian and Central European countries… The Danes were not the only late country. The Swedes arrived even later, but that has an explanation. They were dressing up for a long time. Putting stockings on. Putting make-up on. We are not talking about the Swedish girls though… The masculine side of the beautiful country found their feminine sides yesterday. Due to GayPride, held in Sweden earlier this year. The Dutch then decided to take control over the situation and invited eight countries to participate in a… Dutch game. First the participants had to do Spijkerpoepen, which means putting a nail into a bottle, then high rise Koekhappen, which is eating a piece of cake tied to a long pile… in the end the Danes and the Norwegians won, kind of, but, as they say, “You all won”. The party transferred to the lounge later on and continued as randomly as every night. Up to early in the morning. At 4AM a bi-curious workshop was supposed to be held in the ex-lovebox (which never was a lovebox anyway), but we have seen no alive participants today yet, so we are not sure if it happened.

The other side of the Swedes.. Or is it Robert Smith from “The Cure”?

Three more NE’s to go – and we will have some political reunions! By the way, those who are wandering if CLEA/ELEA will be presented – yes. The Southern Americans will stick to the Mediterranean!

Have something to say? 1

They open at noon till midnight and the menu is just like we would expect in Heaven or in Wallhalla or also even in Nirvana. You can start with Homemade Atlantic Seafood Chowder or Fried Goats Cheese and then you can go on to the Old Favourites like the Traditional Connemara Lamb Stew or the Sirloin Steaks, served with Onions and Mushrooms, Chips and Garlic Butter. They also have tasty Side Orders: French Fries, Fresh Vegetables, Mixed Salad. Besides Beer you can also enjoy the Winecard. *Real* Stuff, as I told you. They serve White and Red Wines from Italy, Spain, France or even Australia. There is no local wine, so if you care about environment, then….you know what I mean and it s to expensive for architecture students anyway, you better save money for health insurance. Bon Appetit!

The Currach Restaurant

Molly’s

SALSA WORKSHOP!!!!!!!11!1 After popular request, the lovely South American participants will once again organize a salsa workshop! Everybody with loose hips and quick feet, but also those of us who are afraid to indulge in rhythmic movement, are invited to join in the dance of love, intimacy, dynamic ergonomics and of course crazy fun.

Where, you ask? In the events tent. When, you want to know? Tomorrow, Sunday evening around 9-ish, after the excursions. So, put on your shoes and dance with me!

WORKSHOPS: TOO COOL FOR STOOL To think that the chairs, couches, sofas and stools we sit on nowadays all come from the same origin, the rock around the corner, is something we'll probably easily forget. That is why Mira and Aleksandar from Serbia are organizing the Too Cool for Stool (2C4S) workshop, focusing on the investigation of one of the traditional local furniture typologies, the three-legged stool.

The workshop, located in the small dome next to the stairs to the tents - pop in to have a try on their products - started out with testing different setups of stools, researching ways to create 'funky, funny furniture' in various colours. They have experimented with shapes, inspired by local folklore and vernacular typologies, which resulted in a shamrock one, an arrow one that tells you the direction and a heart shaped one that can cozily fit two. Of course there also was time to fool around, resulting in the batstool. Mira told us the participants also worked on making joints that

do not use glue, nails or screws, making the stools very easy to deconstruct and change, and at the same time very sustainable as well. The tutors described the design process as 'genetically modifying' the stools in a fashion that is pretty similar to 3D programs such as 3Dmax or Maya, using scaling, rotating and multiplying to invent new generations of stools.

For the final products the workshop will focus on designing and producing sets of stools that play out scenarios inspired by both the local countryside and the events that happen in EASA. They are also discussing with the guys from the Lunchbox to design furniture that can accompany the finished pavilion. Perhaps the most interesting thing that is planned for next week is the creation of the 'notstool', which is not going to be a stool, but will be something of an interpretation of the anti-typology of a stool.

TODAY IN HISTORY

1977 – Elvis Presley "The King of Rock and Roll", was found dead on the floor of his bathroom. Although it was officially ruled as a fatal heart attack, many people have claimed to have seen Elvis alive since then. The king is alive!!!

Oh, and the participants are happy, because they can work inside ;-) 5

1981 - Taylor Rain, American po rno graphic actress was born

Pelle from Sweden lost his wallet ... with cards and stuff in it, so easy to recognize. Geerte, the always smiling Dutch participant, has lost her poncho. It’s very yellow and features a LEGO man and a sun on the back. So, if you are Danish, please return it. MAIL LOSTIES AND FOUNDIES TO easa008umbrella@gmail.com

HORRORSCOPE FOR TONIGHT AND TOMORROW Aries Concentrating on your looks will help you score tonight. Use some perfume as well.

Leo At least five kilos have fallen off you since EASA started. Eat something, i.e. be in time for breakfast, i.e. don’t drink that last beer tonight!

Taurus Try avoiding wearing red. Shoes included. It seems that this colour can bring you bad luck! Thanks God beer is yellow, ha?

Virgo You may be left to pick up the pieces of someone else’s failures. Sorry...

Capricorn Have a candy. This will make your day brighter, because beer doesn’t have enough glucosis.

Gemini You should experience a meeting with a person having a rich nationality. So leave your tokens in the circus tent!

Libra Having had a taste of victory last week, this week may seem like the ideal opportunity to go wild. The future might see a need for you to call attention to yourself.

Aquarius The stars are whispering today that youc an experience an alcohol stroke, so... keep it low. and don’t mix.

Cancer Let’s just say “The Rolling Stones”. You can’t get no satisfaction, can you? Just enjoy the small details then!

Scorpio You can’t go wrong today - everything is set up for success. This might cause problems controlling the lucky situation!

Pisces Call home - EASA is a heaven on earth, but the relatives might be slightly worried about the hell side of it ... luck.

Saggitarius Thinking and drinking at the same time can be hazardous for you today.
