SEED TO SEAL

We’re proud to offer an extensive line of authentic, essential oil-infused solutions that represent the best of nature—all purity, no compromises— through the standards of our groundbreaking Seed to Seal® program. Seed to Seal is our set of standards that ensures that with every targeted supplement, every skin care solution, and every pure essential oil you use, you’re enjoying the benefits of our global resources, industry leadership, and 23 years of innovation. The result? Pristine final products that you know have been produced with conscientious sourcing, science, and standards.

These three aspects of production contain our concrete steps for delivering transformative, innovative, and pure products to you. The standards are demanding, but a product is only as good as the process that produced it, and we’re committed to a quality process far beyond all industry expectations to transform your life for the better.

Sourcing Because synthetics, contaminants, cheap fillers, and unethical production practices are not an option for the products in your home, we guide the process of sourcing products from carefully vetted suppliers and test them extensively. If our exhaustive tests show that a product doesn’t meet our standards, we don’t buy it or we reject the batch.

Science We insist on essential oils, products, and ingredients that have passed our stringent, unyielding quality benchmarks. We create our pure, effective formulas with the cleanest and most innovative ingredients available. We also focus on what’s not in the formulas. We’ve developed an expanding list of 20 potentially harmful or harsh additives that may appear in mainstream products but will never be found in ours.

Standards As the leaders of the modern essential oils movement and a close partner with the earth, it’s part of our stewardship to do business responsibly—from sustainably sourcing rare botanicals, to uplifting local communities, to going above and beyond to comply with local environmental rules. The goal? Offering a pure product that you know is part of a greater good. Inexpensive essential oils are often synthetic, adulterated, or unethically sourced, which is why we choose to partner with sources we know produce pure essential oils and ingredients ethically and legally, setting a top-tier standard for sustainability. This unique approach sets us apart. We guide every step of production to ensure that you get pure essential oils and products you won’t find anywhere else.

HOW ARE ESSENTIAL OILS MADE? Essential oils are the concentrated extracts of botanicals, produced through steam distillation of carefully grown and harvested plants. Our sourcing and executive teams have been hand-selecting renowned suppliers of premium botanicals and building relationships with them for decades. We continue to foster and expand these relationships. All farms— whether a partner farm, Seed to Seal-certified supplier, or our very own corporate farms—sign declarations that they will seed, cultivate, and distill to our strict Seed to Seal specifications. Upon harvest, plants are dried and placed into a cooker (distillation tank), which is pressure locked, so steam can saturate through the cooker, which causes the plant’s material to release the essential oil. The steam is then carried to a condenser, which liquefies it and separates the oil from the water. The essential oil is lightly filtered to remove any remaining plant material and then quality tested and stored until ready to be used.

MODERN USE OF ESSENTIAL OILS Though essential oils have been used therapeutically since ancient times and across cultures, contemporary adaptation didn’t occur until French chemist René-Maurice Gattefossé ushered in the use of essential oils to treat soldiers in World War I. Since then, the rise in use of essential oils in wellness treatment has been on the rise, exponentially so over the last decade. In wellness centers around the world, essential oils are being used as part of energy healing and in formal care. With proper training, a licensed chiropractor, naturopathic doctor, or allopathic doctor can use essential oils as part of treatment plans for their patients. Aromatherapy provides caregivers another tool to use in their patients’ treatment plans. As a contributor to overall wellness, the addition of essential oils can provide support in a variety of delivery methods: • Aromatic: Through direct inhalation or via diffuser, essential oils can transform the experience of your patients. • Topically: Many oils are beneficial when applied directly to the skin or with a carrier oil.* • Internally: Many Young Living oils and products can be incorporated as dietary supplements.* *Always check individual product labels for usage directions and dilution instructions.

Essential oils in your wellness center The broad range of treatment available in wellness centers often allows individuals to seek whole body wellness to address specific ailments. This macro approach to healing can be supported by the incorporation of essential oils. With treatment plans carefully selected to supplement your patient’s well-being, the addition of essential oils into their daily lives can provide them with aromatic support that calms, uplifts, and soothes.

Thieves® Young Living’s proprietary combination, including Lemon, Clove, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus Radiata, and Rosemary is popular for its invigorating aroma. The warm, spicy scent of Thieves will keep your center welcoming and inviting for your patients.

Suggested Appl ication • Diffuse Thieves in reception areas to provide a welcoming aroma that also freshens the air. Add to an Aria™ diffuser and you can also play soothing sounds or your own music to help your patients feel at ease. Finding the right balance between welcoming and fresh can be difficult. The cleaning power of Thieves lets your patients know that you keep things clean but that you also prefer natural products to harsh, synthetic odors.

Suggested Appl ication • Use Thieves ® Household Cleaner to spray doorknobs, adjustment tables, equipment— anything that needs to be cleaned, without harsh chemicals.

L av e n de r Many treatment plans include the use of Lavender. One of the most popular essential oils in the world, its aroma is a tool that can increase feelings of relaxation in patients. It takes 27 square feet of the flowering tops of the Lavandula angustifolia plant to create just one 15-ml bottle of Young Living Lavender essential oil.

Suggested Appl ications • Soak a cotton ball in 1-2 drops of Lavender and pin to a patient’s shirt to inspire feelings of calm and relaxation. • Use the Rainstone™ diffuser with Lavender essential oil to bring the calming aroma of Lavender into the environment before a chiropractic adjustment.

Peppermint From therapeutic massage to providing an afternoon lift for patients, Peppermint is invigorating for both the body and the mind. Menthol, the primary active component in Peppermint, activates the same receptors in nerve endings that are involved in sensing cold, which leads to a cooling sensation upon use. Menthol is extracted from the leaves and flowering tops of the peppermint plant, and it takes nearly a pound of peppermint to make one 15-ml bottle of the essential oil.

Suggested Appl ications • Combine with a carrier oil such as V-6™ Vegetable Oil Complex and use in a cool, soothing massage that will invigorate muscles. • Combine with Lavender in a diffuser for an aroma that can provide a sense of calm while inspiring positivity.

Lemon Bright, fresh, and energizing, Lemon essential oil is cold pressed from the rinds of lemons, giving it the aroma of the freshly picked fruit. Lemon oil contains the naturally occurring constituent limonene and can be used as a natural cleaner.

Suggested Appl ications • Soak a cotton ball in 1-2 drops of Lemon essential oil and then insert the cotton ball into a handheld container. Patients can reach for this throughout the day when they need a pick-me-up or when they need to avoid harsh chemical smells or bad odors. • Keep patients hydrated with refreshing Lemon Vitality water. In a large, glass dispenser, dilute 1 drop of Lemon Vitality™ essential oil per 12 ounces of water for a light, refreshing drink to keep in waiting rooms.

Pur ification® From piles of laundry to stuffy supply closets, wellness centers occasionally have an unpleasant odor to tackle. Purification essential oil blend is a natural solution that has numerous other uses. Comprised of Citronella, Lemongrass, Rosemary, Myrtle, and Tea Tree essential oils, it contains the naturally occurring compounds neral, cineol, and geranial, all which contribute to its odor-fighting abilities.

Suggested Appl ications • Combine 8–10 drops with distilled water or witch hazel in a small spray bottle and spritz into the air and over surfaces to freshen any room. • Diffuse after every adjustment or patient visit so that every patient enters a clean, fresh space.

Oregano Occasionally, your center will need an essential oil heavy-hitter. Oregano is a potent, herbaceous essential oil with a high concentration of phenols.

Suggested Appl ication • Apply Oregano oil topically with a carrier oil such as V-6™ Vegetable Oil Complex for use in massage on fatigued muscles.

Lemongr ass Bright, sweet Lemongrass may have some of the limonene of its namesake, Lemon, but don’t mistake it for the citrus fruit. Distilled from the woody stalks of the lemongrass plant, the citrusherb aroma can bring a sense of clarity and relaxation to your wellness center. Its warmth is a welcome complement to sports massage.

Suggested Appl ications • Place 1–2 drops in patients’ hands, have them rub them together, and then hold their hands over their nose and take deep, calm breaths. The relaxing aroma will create a calm environment before adjustments or energy work. • Make your own substitute for chemicalbased air fresheners. Add up to 10 drops to a small spray bottle filled with distilled water and spritz anywhere rooms need freshening.

ABOUT YOUNG LIVING

Our communit y of wellness started small in 1993, when D. Gary Young and Mary Young developed their first organic herb farming and distilling operation. At the time, Gary had already discovered the incredible power of essential oils; but because the quality of available oils varied so greatly, he’d been unable to fully harness their potential. After establishing Young Living in 1994, the Youngs developed more farmland in Utah and Idaho and began cultivating lavender, peppermint, melissa, clary sage, and many other botanicals. Fueled by a growing demand for top-quality essential oils, Young Living designed and built the largest, most technologically advanced essential oil distillery in North America. Now our farms and community span the globe. Because of our proven commitment to provide nature’s best, millions trust us to deliver superior essential oils. Young Living is proud to be one of the largest female-owned and operated companies in Utah. Mary Young became the CEO in 2015, with over 20 years of experience as a corporate executive and a successful career as a direct-sales marketer before joining the company. Mary has helped lead the company to reach incredible success, including hitting $1 billion in sales and 3 million members in 2015. Her hands-on leadership has allowed her husband, the company’s founder and Chairman of the Board, D. Gary Young, to step back from some of his executive duties to focus on his passions: developing farms, focusing time and energy on philanthropic and civic initiatives, global peace, world health, and community giving. Their collaborative efforts have made Young Living what it is today, a global leader in essential oils and wellness solutions.

We believe that a product is only as good as the process that created it. ®

is our commitment to crafting pristine products without compromise.
