Putting his life on the line, Marc travels to the Middle East in search of frankincense.

Marc Schreuder, Young Living’s Director of Product Formulation toured the country in April, spreading the word about his greatest passion: essential oils. In a six-day whirlwind tour spanning Sydney, Tasmania, Melbourne, Adelaide, Darwin, and finishing in Brisbane, Marc educated Australian members about Young Living’s products and how they are a step above the competition. According to Marc, the overuse of conventional medicines can be more detrimental to the body than beneficial. Prescription drugs can have many side effects. Often, doctors prescribe one medication to help with a certain condition, but this medication may induce unwanted side effects. To help nullify this, additional medications may also be prescribed to treat the symptoms caused by use of the initial drug. To counter the overuse of conventional medicine, Marc discussed the ‘holy grail’ of natural medicine. One noteworthy supplement providing beneficial support for many body systems is omega-3 essential fatty acid. Fats are a crucial part of a balanced diet. However, not all fats are created equal. Some fats are essential for your
body to function to its fullest potential. Not surprisingly, these fats are called ‘essential fatty acids’. The omega-3 essential fatty acids found in fish oil are among the best good fats. Studies suggest that regular consumption of omega-3 may have a positive impact on cardiovascular health, cognitive performance, eye health, inflammatory diseases, mental health, nervous system, renal disorders, skin, and general wellness.1 While fish oil is a fantastic way to supplement health, the addition of an antioxidant can be favourable to the body. Clove essential oil contains the most antioxidants of any measured essential oil. For this reason, Marc made the decision to add clove oil to Omega Blue, Young Living’s own omega-3 fish oil supplement, to provide an antioxidant boost. Meeting attendees also experienced a sneak-peak into Marc’s presentation for the 2010 International Grand Convention, viewing raw video footage from his journey on the Frankincence Trail. Having travelled extensively around the world in search of new essential oils, Marc recently accompanied Young Living founder Gary Young on a trip to the Middle East, both putting their lives on the line in search of true frankincense. According to Marc, frankincense is only available in three countries: Somalia, Yemen, Oman, and Yemenese island of Soqotra, however many suppliers of frankincense oil purchase other varieties of frankincense and pass it off as the high-demand Omani frankincense. All true frankincense essential oils contain four to six boswellic acids. Unlike other essential oils on the market, Young Living’s frankincense has been independently tested and shown to meet these stringent quality standards. 1
