AIDING PUERTO RICO, FLORIDA, AND CALIFORNIA The Foundation and YL members aid thousands on the road to recovery FOUNDER’S MESSAGE

What a year! Looking back, there is so much

for which to be grateful and excited. Along with the anticipation of the holidays and family time, December gives us an opportunity to reflect on the year’s abundance and blessings. Our 2017 International Grand Convention was the biggest YL convention ever, with nearly 30,000 in attendance at the Rice Eccles Stadium and the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City, Utah. Seeing members from around the world reminded me once again why we work so diligently throughout the year.

The Young Living Foundation provides support to Puerto Rico, Florida, and California after recent natural disasters.

Continued from page 1 FOUNDATION DISASTER RELIEF to help those in need. It’s the joining of the human spirit of those physically involved and the prayers from those near and far that make the YL community so strong and dynamic. We have all been touched by the extraordinary kindness, care, and generosity of our members, who have given so much. With your donations and Young Living’s support, we have provided well over $6 million in aid and 3,000 care kits to members so tragically affected since August when the first hurricane disaster hit southern Texas. We will always be there to help our members wherever tragedy strikes in the world. Your continuing donations to the Foundation make us stronger and more prepared. We intend to help as many as possible, at any time, by raising millions for the suffering and under privileged, as well as those faced with disaster, devastation, and tragedy. THE SCIENCE PILLAR With Chief Science Officer Dr. Mike Buch

Gou r m a n d e In Th e K

CHEWY MOLASSES SPICE COOKIES INGREDIENTS ½ cup cashew butter (roasted and unsalted) 5½ tablespoons maple syrup 2 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons dark molasses 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon coconut oil (in liquid state) ¾ teaspoon vanilla extract 2 drops Cinnamon Bark Vitality™ oil 2 drops Clove Vitality oil 2 scoops Pure Protein Complete™— Vanilla Spice 1 teaspoon baking soda ½ teaspoon ground ginger ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon ¼ teaspoon ground cloves Pinch of sea salt

INSTRUCTIONS Yield: 12 cookies • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Preheat oven to 350°F. • In a large bowl, mix cashew butter, maple syrup, molasses, coconut oil, vanilla, and essential oils until smooth. • Add Pure Protein, baking soda, spices, and salt, stirring until a sticky dough comes together. • Using a small cookie dough scoop, drop dough 1–2 inches apart on prepared baking sheet. • Bake cookies about 8 minutes until firm around the edges and starting to crack in the center. Transfer baking sheet to a wire rack to cool completely. Cookies will firm as they cool.

At the 2017 International Grand Convention, Young Living announced our updated Seed to Seal® program, created to offer a more complete story of how our pure essentials oils travel from the farms to your family. This month we’re studying Science, one of the three pillars in the updated Seed to Seal program. Although the focus of this pillar seems straightforward, Chief Science Officer Dr. Mike Buch reminds us that a lot goes into our cutting-edge research. “[The Science] pillar encompasses all of our science, quite frankly; but that involves what I would consider to be our industryleading research pillar,” Dr. Buch says in a recent podcast. In addition to studying plants and essential oils, Dr. Buch’s team researches nutritional supplements, skin care ingredients, quality testing procedures, and innovative development processes. Dr. Buch has also helped set Young Living apart by prioritizing the focus and attention of his team. “One of the things I did last year…[was] to split R&D right in half,” Dr. Buch says. “That means that I have scientists who are fully, 100 percent, devoted to research. I also have a group of scientists who are completely, 100 percent, devoted to product development; and that allows them to really focus not only on their own skill sets but to bring the best products to market.” With the ability and commitment to dive deep into both research and development, Young Living continues to set the standard in the science of essential oils and essential oil-infused products. It’s with this mentality that we move forward in the pursuit of bringing essential oils to every home in the world. Get more insider insight into Dr. Buch’s team and the Seed to Seal Science pillar by listening to the Drop of Inspiration podcast episode at YoungLiving.com/Podcast!
