Artist Profiles
Kyung Yu, violin
Violinist Kyung Yu has appeared as a soloist, recitalist, chamber musician, and orchestral performer throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia. She performs extensively with Yale faculty pianist Elizabeth Sawyer Parisot, with whom she has recorded sonatas and chamber music. The duo has played numerous recitals in Connecticut and Pennsylvania and performed to acclaim in concert tours of South Korea and Italy. Yu was also concertmaster of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra for 11 years.
At the Yale School of Music, Yu teaches a studio of undergraduate-level violinists and has been featured in performance on the School’s Faculty Artist Series. Previously, she taught at the Aspen Music Festival and School, was an assistant to Dorothy DeLay at the Juilliard School’s Pre-College Division, and served on the Fulbright Scholarship Screening Committee. Yu has also taught violin students at Lehigh University and Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania.
Yu holds bachelor of music and master of music degrees from the Juilliard School and a master of music degree from the Yale School of Music. She has studied with Dorothy DeLay, Paul Kantor, and Emanuel Zetlin.
Lohan Park, piano
Pianist Lohan Park made his debut with Sir André Previn and appeared as a soloist with the Göttinger Symphonie Orchester, Akademisches Orchester Leipzig, Musikkollegium Winterthur, Mozarteum Orchestra, Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie, Morocco Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre de chamber de Paris, and Brazilian Symphony Orchestra in venues such as the Kennedy Center, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Gewandhaus
zu Leipzig, Stravinski Auditorium, Salle Gaveau, Theatro Municipal, and Seoul Arts Center. He is a laureate of Concours Clara Haskil and top prizewinner of the Concours Long-Thibaud, BNDES Rio de Janeiro, Concours International de Piano de l’Orchestre Philharmonique du Maroc, Stiftung Animato, Rotary Germany, and Mozarteum Mozart Prize.
Park is a graduate of Yale University School of Music and Musikhochschule Hannover under the guidance of HungKuan Chen, Claude Frank, and Arie Vardi.
