The new era of WVU golf begins as players arrive on campus for the first time since the program was cut in the early 1980s.

West Virginia competes at its first-ever Big 12 Men’s Golf Championship at Whispering Pines Country Club in Trinity, Texas. Then-freshman Max Sear just misses a top-10 finish.

West Virginia starts the season with another win, this time taking top team honors at the Janney VCU Shootout.

Sharpstene shoots a then-program low round of 64 to lead the Mountaineers to another win at the Martin Downs Collegiate in Palm City, Florida.

Freshman Matthew Sharpstene becomes the first Mountaineer to ever win Big 12 Golfer of the Month after his play at the Ka’anapali Collegiate Classic in Lahaina, Hawaii.

West Virginia caps the fall season at No. 37 in the Golfstat rankings.

West Virginia qualifies for its first NCAA appearance since 1947. The Mountaineers place sixth at the NCAA Louisville Regional.

The Mountaineers record a new team 54-hole low round and total versus par at the Ka’anapali Collegiate Classic with a 273-273-280=826 for 26-underpar, besting the previous records of 835 (Ka’anapali Collegiate Classic, 2018-19) and -22 (Janney VCU Shootout, 2017-18). NOVEMBER 2019

Mark Goetz became WVU’s first-ever individual qualifier for the NCAA Regional Championship. He finished second, just missing a spot in the NCAA Golf Championship. After the season, he became the first WVU golfer to earn All-America honors. MAY 2021

Sear becomes the first Mountaineer in more than 30 decades to win a tournament, claiming medalist honors at The Health Plan Mountaineer Invitational in Bridgeport. WVU takes the team title at its home event, hosted at Pete Dye Golf Club.

The Mountaineers host their first-ever Big 12 Championship at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. Etienne Papineau earns the first record of the season with a program-best 54-hole total of 203 at the Old Town Club Collegiate Invitational; he shaves three strokes off the previous record of 206, which was set in 2017. WVU earns its first top-25 ranking. . Logan Perkins earns a new 18-hole record low score at the Florida Gators Invitational in February with a 62, besting the previous record of 64, which was set in 2018.
