Summer Fun

Tot Lot is like our supervised summer playground with one exception: it is designed especially for kids ages 5 and under. Each week is given a unique theme (bugs, space, animal safari, etc.) that is explored through stories, arts and crafts, projects, organized games and special events. Throughout the summer, Tot Lot kids are also given the opportunity to participate in fun activities such as walking in the West Allis Independence Day Parade on July 2nd, performing a routine for Dance Fest, and making a splash at the Fun Run & Pool Party at the end of summer. Children must be able to provide self-care including using the restroom. This program is free. Tot Lot, however, is NOT intended to be a childcare program. Each child must be signed in and out by an adult, and emergency contact information must be filled out on site. Drop off begins at 8:30 am, but kids can join in the fun at any time during the morning. All children, however, must be picked up

Breakfast/Lunch

A child’s need for good nutrition does not end when school lets out. Good nutrition is crucial for children to have safe and productive summers. The summer food program made possible through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) provides an opportunity to continue a child's physical and social development while providing nutritious meals and fun activities at local summer recreation program sites. The West Allis-West Milwaukee Recreation and Community Services Department in partnership with Sodexo Foods, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, and Hunger Task Force, is proud to offer this FREE service to the children of our community.

In the United States approximately 12.5 million children and adolescents aged 2-19 years old are obese. Because roughly 60% of families in the West Allislis West Milwaukee School District live at or below the poverty level, many children cannot afford to participate in after school youth sports programs. Our sports programs help children gain fundamental skills and learn the importance of teamwork all while being physically active. Help us KEEP CHILDREN ACTIVE.

Just $25 can pay for one youth to participate in a Recreation Department youth sports program.
